Codex Tyranids: A horror from beyond the known universe, inescapable, inevitable. Possibly *the* biggest threat around. The ones here can make entire sectors go dark and they may just be a scouting force. Led by hyper-intelligent Hiveminds who can play the long game on the millennia scale, able to coordinate unprecedented forces with precision.

Tyranids in the books and videogames: Slaughter fodder for the glorious space marines (or Da Boyz if we're feeling spicy) to test their mettle against who never ever win when theres anything approaching stakes. Prone to frequent tactical blunders and kinda stupid, even if they are tough.

Reading through PtC to try and force myself to like it, but just... the all pervasive humanity-as-a-goodism is so hard to stomach. "humans do awful things, but those don't count against humans being fundamentally good and the only good things to be. Monsters are real and can be just as empathetic or more than a human, but that doesn't count either." Reaching the part on the Centimani was kind of my breaking point (hah), just. The scorn towards anyone who doesn't want to become what hates them, the fact that virtues like "empathy" and "cooperation" and "not killing people more minor slights" are all stated to be in the domain of humans alone... its just not very well thought out. Especially because Prometheans *already have* those traits! The only real difference between them and a human is their torment, their disquiet, and their powers. Its so frustrating. Game about self-actualization where the only option to self actualize is by becoming the people that get to murder you guilt free. The base level of a created being becoming what it wants should appeal to every it/its tgirl out there but instead you can't really blame the Average Human for wanting to kill you, you're an incomplete tranny! Don't you wanna be like them? ugh.
