One At A Time - Emily, Spencer & Christian
Emily had been playing with Sidney in his room while the meeting was happening, She held her little boy in her arms as she tried not to overhear anything. If she was needed she’d be called. In the meantime, she was just going to keep her son busy, who continued to look up at her with big blue eyes that mirrored his parents own ones. She had made a spot for them on the floor as she continued to look at the boy. He really was the best thing she had ever done and while she had only just given birth to him, she already wanted a house full of kids like Sidney.
When the door opened, Emily looked up to see Spencer in the doorway. She wasn’t sure what could be happening, but it really seemed like she was needed. ” Okay,” she replied as her eyes looked over his face to see if there was any tell on it about why she was suddenly needed back in the room with the brothers. Emily had considered herself good in figuring out what Spencer was thinking, but in this case her mind came up blank. As soon as he left the room, she kept her son in her arms and readjusted him so he’d be safe when she stood back up and headed back out into the hall following Spencer into the hall ” What’s going on?” She asked bouncing her son in her arms as she looked at his face.
A small smile broke on his lips, which let up on the grinding of his back teeth that he hadn't even realized before. He was glad that Emily was so quick to agree to be with him. That was one of the main reasons he loved her so much. She was always there for him. He started out of the room, but her question stopped him before he could return to his brother, who he'd left alone without thought. He turned back around to face her. "Nothing," he said. Spencer was unsure of how to answer her, because there really was nothing going on. That was why he needed her. He was too overwhelmed with what was going on to be without his main support.
He took a step in her direction and wrapped his arms around her waist, pulling their son between them. He dropped his head to her shoulder and let his eyes wander over Sidney's face. He took a deep breath, bringing one hand up to rest on her hip, which he then squeezed. He lifted his head and pressed his lips against her neck, before stepping away from her. He kept one arm around her waist, though, as he led them all back into the room where he had left Christian. He took his seat, again, on the couch next to the younger boy. With Emily there, he felt more comfortable. He eased up around Christian, and found himself enjoying his little brother's company. It was then that he realized, adding Christian to his family was a good thing, and that was something he had an easier time dealing with.
