You don’t have to love yourself. But it helps to behave as though you do. Not in a nebulous, spiritual way… in a practical way.

We know someone can say “I love you” all day and not mean it. What matters more is how they behave. The actions they take. Are you saying you love yourself but not taking the real world actions to express that love?

What does it look like when someone loves you? What kinds of things do they do, even when they’re tired or stressed or bored or irritated?

If you loved someone, wouldn't you try to help them prioritize their needs? Make sure they got enough sleep? Ate something? Ask them to go on a walk with you to get out of their head if sad?

If so, why not do those things for yourself too?

☝️🤓 it’s because the further you move toward the earth’s poles, the lower the angle of the sun is at the hottest parts of the day, meaning the radiation hits your whole body, causing it to feel 10-20 degrees warmer than the thermometer reading will tell you. People from tropical climes, aka close to the equator, are used to the sun’s radiation hitting a much smaller target- their head and shoulders.

Also the further you move toward the poles the more pronounced the difference between the length of day and night is. Worst part of a far-north (or south) heatwave is it doesn’t get dark long enough for meaningful cooling.

It’s not the heat. It very literally is the sun.

Not like that. he lives in my brain.
