When discussing fandoms, particularly fans of shows or movies you yourself are not a fan of, a lot of people seem to have a need to find some way to make those fans out to be morally bankrupt in some way. Like it’s not enough to say they like a thing you don’t, you’ve apparently got to insinuate they hate homeless people or kick babies or something. When in reality most of the time you probably just find them a little annoying, but being that relentlessly mean about something so petty can make you feel not so good about yourself. So instead you joke about how they find mentally ill people gross or something to let yourself feel justified.

I just find it all incredibly tiring, why do we have to define our interests by what we hate?

I know I don't shut up about this but frankly not enough people are angry about the 5-day/40 hour workweek (and I am AWARE a lot of people work even more than that). I feel like a lot more people should be absolutely furious that we only really have two days a week and some occasional hours in the evening to socialise, run errands, do chores, or relax.

It's no wonder so many people are profoundly lonely and disconnected from their communities when maintaining a social life in what little free time we have is incredibly difficult. If you have kids, a second job, a very long commute, or other responsibilities, it's nearly impossible.

We literally aren't meant to live like this and I'll never stop being shocked how many people just take it as the natural state of things and don't want to throw a brick through a billionaire's window every time they think of it.

As my husband works in education, this summer I was the only person in our house that did not have a summer break.

My 7yo was INCENSED. About a week into summer break he asked why I was still working and I said I didn't get summer break and he launched into a full-on RANT. Pacing the room. Gesticulating wildly. About how it wasn't FAIR, and EVERYONE should get a summer break.

I thought that was the end of it, but no. At least once a week he would go off about how it wasn't fair I didn't get a summer break, that everyone needs more breaks from work and school. And you know what? He was right. Everyone should get the equivalent of 9-10 weeks of paid vacation.

trying to explain the concept of dogwhistles to older people is so frustrating. my mother will see a tweet like "men shouldn't be allowed in women's bathrooms" and her response will be "well, of course they shouldn't! men have their own bathrooms that they can use!" and when i try to explain to her that men here is code for trans women, she'll go, "but how do you know that? it doesn't say that anywhere. i'm sure you're just reading into things." look ma idk how to tell you this but occasionally, every once in a while, people will say one thing and mean something else. sorry you had to find out this way

It’s especially frustrating with parents, even more so if they’re the type to automatically assume they know more than you because they’re the parent and you’re the child. Because for them to really grasp the point, it would mean accepting their child has a better working knowledge of ongoing cultural issues.

Conservative parents especially almost always instinctively assume their progressive kids only believe the things they do because they’re naïve and or brainwashed by “cultural marxists”. Trying to get them to understand that they’re not as tuned in to current events as they think they are is a Sisyphean task lmao

I've been seeing a lot of Youtube clips/thumbnails saying "lore accurate Link" where he's a total badass or whatever and I've never thought of Link as that type of character. He's not fantasy Master Chief or Doomslayer or whatever. I've always thought of Link as an underdog that rises to the occasion (with some help from destiny depending on the game.) That said I suppose if any Link would be an unstoppable badass type of character it would be BOTW/TOTK Link, since he was already established as Hyrule's best knight before BOTW even started.

I think that’s accurate to a degree, but not always, what’s honestly more precise for me, is that he often starts off as a plucky underdog, but by the end feels like a total badass. Not in a macho manly kind of way mind you, but I think about the Hero of Twilight fighting off the Bublin boss on the great bridge of Eldin, and The hero of the Skies solo-ing a monster army to get to Zelda at the climax of Skyward sword, and I’m like, “holy fuck, this guy is a force of nature”.

And on the other hand, the Hero of winds, and other younger presenting Links totally feel like a plucky underdog all throughout
