i'm in a group for people who own those 12 foot tall home depot halloween skeletons (i do not own a 12 foot tall home depot skeleton; do not tell on me). the skeleton owners post daily about how they're decorating their skeletons seasonally to circumvent local ordinances about "seasonally appropriate" outdoor décor. they post anonymous fan & hate mail neighbors leave in their mailboxes which appear to be 100% genuine and a number of people are regularly posting updates as they pursue litigation against HOAs and entire cities to defend their rights to keep their 12 foot skeletons standing outside year-round. with lawyers and everything. it's a look into the lives of people who have money to spend on things i can never imagine, but i am compelled by their conviction.

grad school ramblings and ~anxiety~

i fucking HATE that my one (former but not officially fml) phd advisor has made my graduate school experience SO actively hostile that i have full-blown anxiety just *opening* my dissertation to edit it.

i already got a week extension to file my master's thesis (of which i am only getting because i need a M.S. to teach a course this summer that my other advisor recommended me for) and i JUST started writing it seriously today. and i need it signed off on by my advisor (who nominated me to teach) and a reader (someone from my committee that i just TA-ed for) by tomorrow.

like i *know* i have severe anxiety and executive dysfunction from multiple TBIs (the TBIs are what prompted Former Advisor to tell me multiple times to drop out of the program / leave her lab) and like i'm working with professionals + meds but somehow it just is. not. clicking.

any way fuck ableist academics and brains that don't want to work!!!!!

well fuck my already fucked life - campus vpn & network are down

just sent a panicked 4am email to the department advisor that the vpn and campus network seem to be entirely down and therefore i can't access ANY OF MY DAMN DATA.

part of the reason i've been mentally justifying putting off working on writing my M.S. thesis is because I've had data running around the clock that is pretty damn essential for the entire chapter. i just ran what i thought would be my second-to-last computational job for this stupid project and i literally can't get back on. i am hoping beyond all odds it finished and/or is not affected by whatever the fuck is going on with campus web infrastructure.

also supposed to drive 6 hours to go visit family in less than 12 hours and haven't packed, showered, or submitted the humiliation ritual of emailing my advisor + committee member what looks like a half-assed project.

don't do a phd kids. and only do a master's if you absolutely need it.
