Unknowingly, the monster had caused a scene anyway didn’t he? He said nothing as brows furrowed until suddenly someone actually spoke to him and he jolted a bit blinking out of his thought process and turning his head on a swivel.
Something sparked a bit when he met those eyes, a kindred soul he once knew perhaps? A long time ago, memories like that were long since faded, feeling did remain.
Whomever this was, they were warm, and nervous and he realizes now that this burger joint probably wasn’t normally this packed or busy. he caused a disturbance.
‘ I… oh dear, I didn’t mean to make a mess of things. ’ he mumbled tsking heavily to himself a hand on his cheek.
‘ I suppose I must though, if I’ve caused you any trouble. ’
‘N-no, no, it’s alright.’ Maybe it wasn’t, not really, but Grillby could tell that he at least felt bad about the disruption to dinner service. ‘By all means, come in.’
Unfortunately, that now meant things were very likely about to escalate. Things had already been chaotic with Mettaton standing around outside, and now he was coming inside. So much for a peaceful night serving up his regulars’ usuals as he listened in on the neighborhood gossip. He hadn’t been prepared for this, certainly not with the bar’s consistent staffing of One.
He was mildly successful in keeping the worry from his face, until he turned back around and saw much of the restaurant on the edge of their seats, watching them with clear excitement.
And finally, the tightly coiled string that constituted Grillby’s patience had snapped. He crossed his arms over his chest, the magic that projected his voice spreading throughout the bar, such that every, single patron could hear him over the ruckus.
‘This isn’t a celebrity meet-and-greet. You bother my customers and you’re out on your ass.’
It wasn’t often that Grillby laid down the law. Most of the room quieted immediately, with regulars frantically shushing the rowdier newcomers who weren’t as familiar with the bartender’s temperament. He let out a breath, and turned his attention back to Mettaton.
‘My apologies,’ he said, managing a hesitant smile. ‘Please, come in.’
