Blog intro

Hello! I am a biomedical science student very interested in science and nature, and this is my blog for posting about those things.

I will mostly be posting pictures of and trying to identify fungi I find out and about. I am by no means an expert, this is just something I find fun, a lot of my identification attempts will likely be wrong and so if anyone knows better please feel free to correct me.

As well as fungi I’m interested in microbiology and marine biology, as well as anything to do with animals.

Feel free to request shitty mspaint doodles or posts about a specific organism !

Also this should go without saying, but if you’re a TERF, transphobe, or otherwise anti-LGBT, stay the fuck away from this blog. This blog is about real biology and not transphobic bullshit

GUYS NEW SHARK JUST DROPPED

Well, technically it's not new : it's a nurse shark. What's new, however, is that it's the first xanthic (imagine albinism but in yellow) nurse shark ever found !! Not only it's not common AT ALL to find fishes with xanthism (it's the first cartilagenous fish ever recorded with this type of genetic "anomally"), but if it's there and still existing as an adult, it means the species is chill-ish with other predators (it probably would have been eaten by then). Its eyes are white so it can also be a form of albinism, in addition to xanthism !!!!!

And most of all : ITS SO CUTE !! AND IT'S SUCH A COOL FIND !!

Please if a marine biologist or someone with more info can interact with this post to feed me some more info or correct me on wrong infos i'e given I'd love it !

(Also if you have pics of animals with xanthism, it's also very appreciated!!)

Potentially hot take but I’ve noticed a lot of young queer ppl are just transphobes using more ‘progressive’ terminology. They’re always so woke until you tell them that they shouldn’t be calling trans people amabs and afabs, or that sex isn’t a binary characteristic that can never be changed.

I’ve seen people in queer groups say shit that would sound indistinguishable from a JKR tweet were it not for a couple of pronouns or acronyms. Acting like testosterone is bad for “afab bodies” or claiming that trans women have “amab socialisation” or whatever.

I know it’s not a real problem it’s just exhausting to have to deal with dysphoria and cishet bs all the time and not even being able to escape it in queer spaces
