ITS DOECHII BITCH MISS D-O-E DON DADA BITCH YOU NOTICE ME!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I don’t have Spotify so I can’t participate in the fun memes but on the plus side I get to smugly say, “I don’t have Spotify,” when people ask
Why, I call upon the minstrels of my keep to play a tune! My beloved oud players, my bedeviling mondolutists, and my five angelic castrati.
Do you like old timey country music or bluegrass? Do you wanna support Indigenous people making contemporary music in their own languages?
Well if you answered yes to both of these questions, please check out Agalisiga’s album Nasgino Inage Nidayulenvi (It Started In the Woods). He’s a Cherokee singer who recently released a whole album IN CHEROKEE. And it’s really good! Available on Bandcamp and other streaming services now!!!!
Here's his website too: https://www.agalisigamackeymusic.com/
Archive.org unleash a windfall of lost music
Archive.org deliver a windfall of lost music.
If you’re looking for a good way to spend the rest of your week, Archive.org have unearthed a gigantic collection of cassettes from the mid-eighties into the mid-nineties. According to their notes, the collection was saved from the archives of noise-arch.net and donated by former CKLN-FM radio host Myke Dyer in August of 2009. Due to the size and obscurity, the collection hasn’t been properly notated but is said to include cassettes ranging from “tape experimentation, industrial, avant-garde, indie, rock, DIY, subvertainment and auto-hypnotic materials”. Head to Archive now to download the free collection.
I know that some of you will lose your minds over this.
Please don’t go, please don’t go I love you so, I love you so please don’t go I love you so, I love you so please break my heart

Thurston Harris & the Sharps: Little Bitty Pretty One
So I found this CD on the street today on my way to work, right? So I decided I’d bring it home and listen to it.
And it was the best decision I’ve ever made in my life.

LOL at all the people comparing this to ‘80s / ‘90s anime openings. My dad, who grew up Orthodox Jewish, flipped his shit when he heard the battle theme for Final Fantasy VI because it resembled Hasidic music. What is even going on, Japan?
Well this is kind of a revelation. This missing half of the equation.
Prog Rock + Hasidic tunes = 90s JRPG battle music.
OK but this post led me down a rabbit hole and I learned Hasidic music is really popular in Japan so I doubt any similarities to game / anime music is a coincidence. Holy shit u guys.
i’m glad this has resurfaced w/ v interesting commentary!
World heritage post?
Hate when people post these videos with "ethnic" tag and leave out who these people are, what their culture is or even what they're singing in.
Anyway, this is probably one of the best bands of this decade and they're Otyken!
I can't recommend My Wing enough. Their songs are so much fun - Genesis is also a blast. Go listen to them!!!!
She asked me what I wanted
As if one ever really knew
And I said, "Dull domestication, free from pressure to pursue
Another love, another touch, another tired conversation"
And then she shut her novel sharply
And proposed a new location
And at once
I obliged
This is one of my FAVORITE things right now.
