Living for my lush little jungle
So, I welcome a big boy into my collection today! Did you notice his second set of fenestrations?! He will fit nicely with his variagated family, the adansonii, and my new monstera sp Peru.
I went to a greenhouse and saw a $65 10in pot with him in it. Since I have already bought a 10" plant here in WI aand I have to drive it back to CO in about month I didn't want to buy the whole plant, just the mature section of the plant ( the theory is if you propagate a mature leaf it will produce a more mature leaf). I therefore asked a young high school employee who didn't know very much about the plant if I could buy a cutting and she sold me two of them for $12. CAN YOU BELIEVE THAT!
Some close-ups of my beautiful calethea and ctenanthe! My collection is ever growing. I have a mosaica waiting for me at home!
I may or may not have acquired a few more plants while in Wisconsin! 🌱🌿🌵😁
My boyfriend who was lovely enough to watch my plants all summer (as I am in a different state for an internship) sent me updates of how my plants were doing without me.
🌵🌴🌱🌳🌲please excuse the dirt on the rug!🌿🍀☘🍁🍃
****Tips for leaving plants with others:
1-When expecting someone else to care for your plants PHYSICALLY write out a very detailed list of care instructions so that the caretaker doesn't miss anything if they forget your verbal instructions.
2-Show them how your tools (moisture meter, humidifier, distillation apparatus...etc.) all work before leaving.
3-Tell them that they can Skype you at any time with questions.)
This is my current room setup for the summer. I left my wonderful boyfriend specific instructions on how to care for my plants and this is the progress he sent back.
New additions to my family
Setup in my room. Always space for more plants.
Variagated peace lily proudly showing off its white patches. :)
My bird of paradise has finally unraveled a new leaf. You can see how the outside recieved light and therefore developed a dark green hue while the inside of the roll maintained its waxy light green color.
