Lola and Chloe are already fraternal twins but I exaggerated their differences with skintone for the sake of storytelling (my story in Strangetown largely focuses on the theme of 'what makes an acceptable person', and the history of alien life in Strangetown is heavily intertwined with this theme, as aliens in the sim world are still the target of discrimination and there is a struggle to integrate)
Erin's design is also exaggerated for storytelling purposes. I know a lot of people headcanon that Loki got frustrated that his sister got more of the attention from their parents in childhood, which is the reason why he acts the way he does - but I wanted to dig into that deeper & also express my own frustration at how certain online spaces prioritise abled feelings over disabled lives.. This will be expounded on later.
Kristen is very heavily inspired by 90s RnB singers i.e Aaliyah, Missy Elliot, etc.
Explanation here: Chloe and Lola are technically 44, but lost most of her adulthood after being held captive and cryogenically frozen by the Strangetown Govt. (inspired by the events of the PSP game & maxis' initial storytelling ideas just with reversed roles ??) Mentally and physically at the age of 25. Chloe and Lola were both raised by Glabe Curious (née: Shardub - an attempt of interpretating simlish from the Glarn & Glabe song lel) who was not equipped to handle the children who weren't even hers in the first place, but also just not being someone who really wanted kids anyhow. In my interpretation, Glabe thought she wanted children as was the case of patriarchy telling her she did, but she wasn't necessarily a maternal person. She was more focused on being a singer, and prior to the twins and her marriage with Glarn, she was a singer. Although she was a good person and tried her best, she did hold resentment towards the girls for taking away the life she wanted as she was stuck to raise two alien girls in complete isolation (for their own safety, lest they be taken away). Their childhood was very complicated but most of all, very lonely. They barely had any contact with the outside world, and their only knowledge of said existence was from TV. As a result of their social isolation, they are both very emotionally/mentally stunted and their relationships are affected by this profound lack of understanding other people.
Chloe Curious: "25". Cisgender woman, femme lesbian. Depression, Anxiety & HPD. In light of her isolated childhood, she tried very hard to break free from this and would often sneak out to go partying. Parties were her only respite from the loneliness she felt. However, because of her half alien nature, she was often apprehended and treated horribly if caught. She always managed to sneak away before anything truly bad happened. Either way, she developed a habit of self destructive and party animal behaviour so that she could regain some control over her life. Early on, she also realised that she had a closer proximity to human simness than her sister did, and so, with her desire to make the most out of her life, began wearing sunglasses and cutting her hair in a way that her ears would be covered so that she would be less likely to be targeted. After she and her sister were held captive, their relationship became incredibly tense and even more so after PT9 suddenly appeared, rescuing them. Chloe holds a deep resentment towards the two of them, blaming them for all of her issues. The only reason why she stays with Lola is because, unfortunately she is her sister, and the financial safety she gets from staying with her.
Lola Curious: "25". Cisgender woman, femme lesbian. Depression, Anxiety. Faced with the same childhood as her sister, she went in the opposite direction of attaining freedom. She realised that she could never be accepted as an alien woman, and so, tried to work around this by becoming the most acceptable, most affluent and educated person, so that somehow they would look past her 'flaw' and realise she was better. She worked hard, avoided everything that her sister was indulging in, dressed nicely and surrounded herself with the "right" people. However, this would all prove to be futile. In her second year of college (being the first alien woman to attend college), after being continously watched and treated like she was a problem to be dealt with, she was eventually apprehended and held captive in Division 47. All this time, she thought that her sister would be the one to get in serious trouble like this, but it was indeed her. During her time in captivity, she was forced to name the other aliens she knew, and of course, the only one she did know, was her sister's. The two of them lost 19 years all together until PT9 rescued them. They were released but as mentioned above, their relationship never fully healed. Lola still had some money to her after being freed and got herself a house. Trying to apologise to her sister, she offered her a place to stay.
Erin Beaker: 25. Cisgender woman, fem lesbian. Depression, Anxiety & Maladaptive daydreaming disorder. Albinism; legally blind with nystagmus. Cane user & wears glasses. Her relationship with Loki is significantly worse than what is given in canon, as he bears a deep resentment towards her for 'stealing their parents away from him' (aka just giving her more attention as she struggled with her blindness growing up). Erin is a sweet girl, if not the tiniest bit naive and arrogant. She grew up rich and white, with parents who cared about her tremendously. Obviously, her position as a disabled woman makes her struggle with systemic ableism and misogyny, but she has a lot of privilege.. which she tries to seperate herself from with her whole hippie lifestyle. This enrages Lola and Chloe especially, who fought very hard to have even just the slightest bit of privilege she has. Lola has a great deal more patience with her though. I haven't necessarily explored this deeper but I think Lola & Erin have a very Glinda/Elphaba situationship.
Kristen Loste: 24. Afro latino (mexican). Cisgender woman, Stem. Anxiety. Literally the only functioning person in this entire household. I don't have a lot to say on her because of this. I do think she worked for Misty Waters for a while in her gym?? Maybe raised catholic and went to an all girls boarding school. I also like the idea of her and Chloe being a typical Stud/Femme dynamic, despite their arguments at times. Their love language is fighting and hatefucking or something idk lel.
