My stepbrother is plural, and one of his headmates is sourced from the song Front Street by Will Wood and the Tapeworms. If you don't know, the song is about sexual assault, though the headmate doesn't have anything to do with that aspect. I think the most he has to do with his source is that he likes drugs.

Anyway, we just caught wind that he was talking about his source and someone else told him that it was about SA, and when he said that he knows that, they replied that it's not "fun or silly or cool", when he never actually tried to say that it was. He was never attempting to glorify sexual assault, and it's not as if he chose his source (and to my knowledge he wasn't even talking about SA either, he literally had just mentioned that he was sourced from the song), but they were treating it like it's something he could control. They even apparently told him that he shouldn't even mention his source.

Why can't people just be normal about introjects existing?? That's literally all he was doing. Existing. And yet here people are source shaming him and acting like his very existence was a glorification of assault. I'm disgusted, I thought the plural community knew better than this.

Idk if it counts as an AU but when I first played the game, I thought they were the protagonists.

I mean, even the meteorite landed in their neighbourhood, it couldn't be just a coincidence, right? </3

So, definitely overthinking here, but I noticed that young Ness and Porky have identical outfits.

My initial thoughts were a cute little thing that they just used to wear identical outfits to match, but then I thought about how that'd mean that Porky wore the same outfit then as he does now which gave me ANOTHER thought.

A lot of characters throught the MOTHER series that are younger than the protagonist wear overalls, or overall type-y clothes like Tracy's dress thing. And overalls in general are often associated with kids. We also see Butch in MOTHER 3, someone who's older, but seems a bit childish (and adorable) wear overalls too.

Anyway.

What if for Porky it's to represent his immaturity and overall lack of growing up (hugely shown in MOTHER 3) that he has compared to his other peers?

Idk just some thoughts :)

i'll give this its own longer and better post eventually but one way this is pretty clearly displayed is in how porky wears his suit for the majority of earthbound

while under giygas, he's pretty clearly trying to act like what he thinks a successful grown up is so he ditches the childish overalls and sneakers for a suitably refined outfit

whereas in MOTHER 3, when his attempts to grow up quick have clearly paid off a little too well, he regresses back to his old childishness

and of course he now dresses to match :3

I feel like people see the word pedophile/paraphile and their critical thinking just turns off. They immediately jump to predator and listen to nothing else the person says.

1: POCD doesn’t mean you’re a paraphile. The very essence of the subtype is you’re afraid of being one and avoid people and things out of fear you’ll hurt someone. It’s a compulsion and you shouldn’t feel the need to do that, but OCD is a good manipulator.

2: Paraphile ≠ predator. Plenty of paraphiles have no intention of ever hurting or exploiting anyone and never have. To demonize them is paramisiac and by extension, saneism.
