kevin day wrote 50% of his own wikipedia entry and all of jeremy’s
oh my god oh my god oh my god
this is my favourite post on rotetwt about RWC it lives in my brain forever.
"He sounds like Neil," Wymack said, "but he doesn’t look like him."
i'm insane about my sport so hear me out on a trc figure skating AU:
~ Ronan is a male skater and originally started because Declan did it when they were younger. Declan has since stopped but still comes to watch Ronan compete sometimes. i can imagine him being a Trusova type, with lots of his style being about power and trying to do the biggest hardest things he can. Very flashy. Swears to god he's gonna get his quads soon (he is doing doubles rn)
~ Adam works at the rink, standing around at skate hire and picking up rubbish from the stands and serving people in the Cafe. Him and Ronan have become good friends over the time Adam has been working there, and they always have a little chat as Ronan buys his coffee after he skates. He doesn't like going out on the ice, as he's a little scared to do it, even though Ronan is constantly trying to convince him to pull on some rentals and join him on the ice after his shift.
~ Blue is a skater, though her boots are probably a little too old to be properly supportive. She's more graceful with her skating, though she's still very determined and would spend all day on the ice trying to make each element consistently good if she could. Her style is more about passion and feeling, and i imagine Maura or Persephone would have made a lot of her costumes. She can't spend as much time as others on the ice, as ice time is expensive. maybe she also works in the cafe with Adam occasionally to help fund skating??
~ i'm not 100% sure on Gansey, but i was thinking either he would be another skater or a hockey player? like he's a part of a hockey team with all of his other rich private school friends and he meets Blue at a public session while he's skating around on his own or something like that? Or he's another male skater and him and Ronan started at the same time and kind of teach each other and hang around in the cafe after every lesson (giving us the Adam/Ronan/Gansey friendship) and i think Helen probably did skating of some sort when she was younger (they're rich it's unsurprising)
~ i'm also not sure on Noah. if it's gonna be a no magic au then maybe he's a slightly newer skater, or someone who works with Adam, if magic is allowed then maybe he got severely injured on the ice and died and now haunts the rink.
Should i write this?? It definitely would include Pynch and Bluesey and i think i have a vague idea for a plot but idk if anyone would read it haha
every pov switch in assassin's fate goes like this. ahem:
fitz and beloved pov: The Servants See All. The Servants Know All. They Know We Are Coming. They Will Foil Our Plans. They Are Prescient, Ancient, All-Knowing, and All-Powerful. To Kill The Four Will Require Unfathomable Cunning and Consideration.
bee pov: they keep talking about a destroyer ? but no one knows what that means. vindeliar keeps saying stuff like "a farseer is coming! there are dragons in the harbor!" but the four keep saying pish posh! anyway. last night i lit one of the four on fire and slit her throat and it was really easy. like, really easy. she didn't see it coming at all. i killed her bc she kept trying to give me candy from her van like a 1980s kidnapper.
I feel like the first class you played in DND tells a lot about you
Reblog and put in the tags what your first class was
the thing about that one line is that i think chade cannot conceptualise love without exploitation. to him, to love someone, you have to use them to the best of your respective abilities in order to better the world. so when he says that fitz can't ever trust that he's loved, he is fundamentally and literally correct, but what he means is "you will not allow me to shape you as a tool fully and completely. why do you attempt to hold parts of yourself back from service to the duchies." crucially, the old man adores fitz with his whole heart. but that heart belongs to the farseer throne and he cannot imagine how to love his son without sacrificing him to it.
Beloved you liiaaarrrr
I love them 🧡
what if i told you there's a book in which a guy somehow gets a scholarship to attend a university for this thing he's good at and ends up joining a small cult-like group of people who do that thing and becomes enamored with the tall dark-haired guy who's best at it and also one member of a set of short blond twins while rejecting advances from the openly gay guy and lying about his background the whole time and dealing with the death of this other guy who was a bigot but probably didn't deserve to be murdered. the best part? i could be talking about either the foxhole court (2013) or the secret history (1992).
My favourite aaron minyard fact is that he hates cops so much he's actively supporting neil getting to stay with the foxes and sides with the rest of his team when the fbi threaten to take him into witsec. literally less than 48 hours after this he goads neil into punching him in the face. he isn't mad about any of the mafia shit whatsoever that's not neils fault. aaron minyard is committed to hating neil josten solely because neil is a prick. and he's right
good morning today i'm feeling agonized by this parallel
burrich begging his son/not actually his son to come back >> fitz doing the exact same thing to dutiful, the son of his body if not his spirit. they're even sitting the same!
and while on the topic of bringing people back to life, i find it fascinating that fitz is so angry at chade and burrich for bringing him back, essentially violating his body autonomy by overriding his decision to stay dead/inside nighteyes, therefore making him relive the memory of his torture and death, because they can't let him stay dead, they need him, and then fitz does exactly the same to beloved, even when beloved tells him to let it go (fitz's middle name is "everything I've ever let go of has claw marks on it"), because fitz can't live without him. he wouldn't survive his loss. losing beloved means losing a half of himself
i love a good ubreakable cycle
turning over and over and over the dynamic of and similarities between carl and the system ai. how well the ai's story during the parade right before the vengeance float fits in with carl's speech on vengeance. their pain echoes each other's. they're so fundamentally different but they're also Not. i don't have the proper words in my brain rn to explain it but like. it's so interesting
something about cycles of abuse and exploitation and how in some cases the abused may become the abuser.
how the galaxy has abused and exploited the primals and the earth ai specifically for soooo long, and how the ai takes pleasure in inflicting pain on the crawlers and it grows furious when someone tries to take control away or break the rules. the dungeon is the only thing the ai has true control over. so it lashes out viciously and angrily when anyone tries to undermine that control or take it away. it will allow crawlers to escape to the pineapple cabaret via the nothing in the casino, but it was pissed when carl tried to bypass its race design by getting as many crawlers as possible to take deals, because that escape is circumventing the ai's control, and that isn't allowed. it destroys the mantid system during the parade in vengeance for what was done to it and its people. it spirals and grows angry and confused when things are outside of its control within the dungeon, and tries so hard to understand the crawlers.
how the galaxy exploited earth and stole everything from it, dehumanizing the people and turning them into a game for the galaxy's entertainment. how carl feels off-kilter and uneasy whenever he's not in control or someone else is leading part of a plan, to the point that he at times micromanages other operations, because the control he has over anything in the dungeon is so limited. how he has contingency after contingency after contingency ready at nearly all times in case something goes wrong, and those contingencies can be adapted to a variety of situations. how he HATES the galaxy and those in power for seeing him and his people as nothing but cattle and entertainment, and he lashes out at them every chance he gets. how he grows more and more angry as the series goes on and the abuse continues.
the ai and carl have similar pain and are both victims of cycles of abuse and exploitation at the hands of the galaxy. they are both victims of pain. the ai continues the cycle because it has no choice and it has learned to take pleasure out of inflicting that pain on others. carl has to remind himself that being vicious and violent isn't who he is and at times falters. the ai exacts vengeance on the wider galaxy as it grows more and and reaches further. carl exacts vengeance from within the dungeon by dragging the galaxy into the dungeon
Fitz this is a completely normal thing to notice about your friend
chade and beloved arguing over fitz's loyalty is so funny when you consider the "a gold man holds the wolf on a chain that goes to his heart" prophecy. fitz never had any chance, his ass belongs to beloved
