Horrible term I learned only a couple of years ago: the second rape. A difficult term that is not per se about rape. Its about how you are treated after a traumatic event, whether it's rape, violent attack, a car accident, abusive relationship, etc.

The pain of not being believed, of victim blaming, of people pulling away, of legal, medical or mental health professionals not taking you serious, can be more traumatic than the event itself, because these are the people you should be able to trust.

Women, people of colour, disabled people and people with mental health problems who are more likely to be victims of violence are also believed less about their pain.

The trauma of the second rape has been described as more difficult to heal from.

(had to learn about this at work in regard to victims of child sexual abuse and how to help them… because they almost always suffer from this second rape)

Mormons stole my great great grandmother from her husband, married her off to a white settler, and then sold all her land because she couldn't find the deed (they destroyed it) and now there's a whole ass freeway and demolished mall on our tribe's land that I see every day on my way to work.

The white men that did this have billions in generational wealth while my mother and grandmother both died from having inadequate healthcare.

When I say fuck mormon missionaries, I mean it so deeply and if I were capable of feeling hatred, it would be at that entire establishment.

They tricked my great great (great?) grandfather into helping build a town that became one of the largest growing cities in the country, stole his daughters, killed his sons, and "blessed" the land in their colonial god's name. And the women were forced to convert or die.

im rereading 17776 and i forgot how funny this shit is. a football game where the end zones are canada and mexico but the field is only as wide as a normal football field. they messed up drawing the lines so the players have been stuck in a canyon for 13,000 years. theyre still playing.
