I was sort of/almost/maybe offered a part time job… but I honestly don’t know if I can do it… I can’t really afford to be choosy but everyone there is SO conservative Christian and like… queer pagan over here, I’m not exactly having a good time.

In a 30 minute conversation, the head of HR said trans people aren’t real, nonbinary people are just confused, theology/sociology/psychology majors are designed to make you lose your faith in God, told a terrible story that criticized poor people and fat people at the same time, and implied that colleges affiliated with churches shouldn’t accept queer students or students of color. He also told a story about lying at a bakery to get a free cookie. And saw that as clever and good.

Also this morning another guy spent a truly absurd amount of time talking about how we must submit to our superiors. Be that employees submitting to their bosses or wives submitting to their husbands.

I need a job but I think I might actually die working in this environment long term… I like some of the work I get to do but man, I don’t know that it’s worth this.

honestly one of the best things we can do for ourselves is realize that people of different ages than us can still be the same kind of person as us. it's humbling and it gives everyone involved a sense of continuity, and it busts those stupid generational stereotypes media is so fond of.
