rain comforts kit more than a sunny day ever could. he does love a bright summer's day, but there's something about a warm rain storm that helps kit to focus, forget his troubles for a time and do what he loves doing. maybe it's the pelting of rain against the shop's roof, or the empty streets outside. he can't say. all he knows is that he's standing behind the glass counter, cleaning a silver locket, and humming a tune from singing in the rain, only thinking about how beautiful the necklace will be on its shelf.
when the bell rings above the door, he glances up at his first customer of the day. not many people left their homes during this type of weather, unless if they need something urgently, but there was always one or two who needed a place to stop in before they soaked themselves to the bone. it looks as if this girl has already done so, however, and brows crease a bit as he glances over her sopping clothes. 'good afternoon. sorry you got caught in the rain,' setting down his rag and the locket, kit wipes his hands off before rounding the counter, gesturing toward a coatrack next to the door. 'you can put everything right there. would you like a towel for your hair? i have a clean one just behind the front desk,'
addy doesn't mind the rain, generally—just, not when she has to bike in it. she's definitely been in worse weather—at least it hadn't been too cold out. still, she gives a small chuckle at his comment at getting caught in the rain. "i'm pretty new to the area. still not used to how much rain you all get around here." not that new england weather couldn't be temperamental in it's own way. add in the fact that she had no way of actually knowing the weather forecast, and...well, then it's clear how exactly she got in this situation. "the driver who splashed me with a puddle also didn't help."
she hesitates for a moment before setting her backpack down near the base of the coat rack, and then she pulls her jacket off and hangs it up. she looks around again, still a bit intimidated by the shop. There's something about the specific nature of antique shops that freaks her out. not the items in particular, more just the feeling of being out of her depth. and while addy is not a clumsy person, there is also something threatening about the idea that one little stumble could accidentally damage something valuable. she realizes she was asked a question, and it takes her a second to process it. "right. um, yeah, that's a good idea."
