Hey tumblr!

Scrolling through the net off duty I came across this old site. Can't believe its been going for just under 400 years. But anyways i just wanted to join in and see if the fun is still going. It seems like a cool place to put your thoughts and my counselor did say I should be saying more of what I think.

Anyways some quick facts about me. I'm a bit of a star nerd. To the point I based my entire career off of it. I work in an astrometric lab on the USS Bermondsey. One of those clunky old London class explorers. I figured out the night sky on earth was too crap to actually see anything so I joined up to starfleet instead.

Anyways I'm just gonna post random crap I think of when off duty or maybe some stuff I come across with my time on board.

Sorry I haven't been about the past few days but update on the guy at the bar. Sooo we hit up big time. Shen has the charm, like what shen saw and gave me shes number. So over the past few days we've been hanging out and uhhh... shen's great.

Shen's off of the Infinity from what I guess. I think it was the Infinity as shen said shes ship got beaten up real bad and hot dang that ship barely had a Hull when it came in the other week.

But I got the hot guy's number and shen's got mine. I hope shen wants to take it seriously. Shes such a great guy and I don't wanna screw it up. But I'm not gonna go hail Mary for shim yet. Plus the Infinity's CO sounds like they are two screws loose till a eps conduit overload.

I'm at the upper deck bar at spacedock and there's this cute guy staring at me. He's like a suave andorian guy and he's so pretty should I say hi or would that be weird?

I spent some time up in spacedock with some crewmates, where really feeling the burn with being grounded. For some reason the Bermondsey's port warp coils just gave out. Like fused together. We won't be able to go to warp until they are replaced. Unfortunately the spare parts are a bit rare for London Class Ships. They've stopped building them after utopia planitia... well we all know what happened there.

Needless to say they are trying to go through recently decommissioned ships for anything that might work. Though the London class is a bit of a workhorse so it might be a while to find something that works. Apparently Cali class' coils might be a good alternative. But those are usually worked till they fall apart so still quite rare.

Worst case scenario they'll have to decommission the Bermondsey. Reuse her parts for another ship. I hope not cuz that means new ship, new people to get to know.

Any ship looking for a astronomer?

So uhhhh. The Bermondsey's core had a little meltdown so we'll be grounded on Earth for a couple of weeks. Sooooo uhhhhh...

Maybe I'll go to the beach? I may be a pasty white trill-human but I can try and work on my tan???

Nice to see that London is still cold and grey even in the late 2380s. And the underground is just as liminal than it was 400 years ago. At least the galactic archives is modern.

Still a couple of trains to my family's place and then it's one week of calmness.

Just docked at Earth Spacedock. Gonna get a shuttle down to Heathrow Spaceport and train it into the city. I wonder how little its changed in the past six months.

Guess who's on their way back to Earth for shore leave? This guy! Hopefully we'll be back in the sol system tomorrow. I got an entire week set up for me whilst the Bermondsey will be in dry Dock for refit. Though I got a few things to work on in San Francisco I'll mainly be in London visiting family. It will be a good time to kick back and relax. 😎

I asked my sup officer what a tuba is and all he did was hold out his arms and wiggle his fingers. I think he was miming it but still don’t know what it is. Maybe I should just look it up in the ship archives. O-O

Apparently there is a brass band concert on next week in the Starbourd Mooring. And I just got asked by Chris from engineering if I could play the tuba. Quick question, what's a tuba?

I remember my old academy roommate used to read a lot of Monk T'ingle's books. He let me read one and by God its some of the most scientific smut I have ever read.

We caught a deep space anomaly on the sensors today. Its throwing out a lot of nasty radiation into the local system. Luckily it's uninhabited and our shields are good enough to deal with the brunt of the radiation. Though a word of warning, any freighter or vessel passing through the North West section of the Donatu Sector might wanna check up on your anti radiation safety. And worst case scenario reroute via deep space K-7 just to be sure.

Me and boss have submitted a request to the Captain to alter course to have a closer look. Under the Lt.Com's advisement ofc.

Update:

We got into full scanning range a couple of hours ago. Me, the boss and a couple of other science officers have been going through the readings. From what we can guess the radiation is coming from what seems to be an exploded reactor of some kind. This was, up until quite recently, a starship. We can't tell what sort because a couple of the trace materials still existing are of alloys we still haven't formed ourselves or made using techniques that are most engineer's wet dreams.

The radiation is coming from a portion of the scraps. One thing that is odd is that the amount it isn't as much as we thought. It'll only effect an area of about 100km radius. Which makes the huge amount we originally detected more than 5 lyrs away even weirder. I think we'll be staying here a little while.

Scans are complete. It seems that there is even more to this. During the investigation we engineering noticed that we couldn't generate a stable warp field near the anomaly. Whatever happened must have damaged local subspace to the point that it warp may be difficult. After finding this out me and the boss scanned subspace and low and behold the damage seems to there. In fact it looks like it trails off for a 100km from the main investigation. From what we can put together this ship must have been travelling very fast and suddenly went BOOM!

What little trail there is can't really give us that amount of direction. But from what we can extrapolate, this would either come from Romulan Space or beyond it. It's difficult to place though. I doubt it was of Romulan Origin. As much as they might still be hush hush we have a pretty good idea on their tech. And this is beyond it. Honestly I think this was from the Delta Quadrant. From a very advanced civilisation we haven't come across yet.

Well a couple of days worth of scans later and there is nothing else we can do. We're placing a warning bouy for any passing ships and have informed command. The ship is departing from the system now and whilst there are so many more questions, there is little I can do now.

I just managed to get off juty just in time for Federavision last night. Always a popular show for the family back on Earth. United Earth's entry wasn't too bad but it didn't really stand out too much. I wasn't too much a fan of Risa's entry but hot dang Andora was robbed of it. They did so well! Hey ho tho I think Betazed won fair and square. If I'm lucky I might able to score some tickets for next year. 👀 People say Rixx is lovely this time of year.
