Ignore the fact that I’ve been gone for 6 months. Have some Sambucky Lockdown Headcanons :)
Bucky grew out a beard. Sam didn’t approve.
They stayed with Sarah and the boys. Sam, AJ and Cass would have Just Dance competitions almost every day. On rare occasions, Bucky would get roped into them as well, which resulted in a lot of teasing from the Wilsons. He may be good at slow dancing, but Bucky sucks at Just Dance.
Bucky taught Sam Russian. Sam picked it up pretty quickly and they would have conversations in Russian at dinner time for no reason other than the fact that they could. Sarah eventually banned speaking Russian at the dinner table.
(Bucky absolutely melts when Sam compliments him in Russian. It’s his new favourite thing).
At the beginning of the pandemic, AJ and Cass caught Covid from school and bought it back to the house. Bucky was the only one who never caught it, but he would take good care of Sam when he felt bad.
Not working as often meant that the pair had a lot of time to just…talk. They talked about Steve a lot and how his death had affected them both. They talked about stupid things as well, like that one time when Bucky had forgotten to wear a mask in the supermarket and people were giving him weird looks, but he just thought they recognised him as the Winter Soldier. So he had just smiled and waved and security came and informed him that he needed to wear a mask. They usually talk for hours about this stuff, curled up in bed with the blinds drawn, Bucky resting his head on Sam’s shoulder.
The kids downloaded Tiktok onto Sam and Bucky’s phones and they both became somewhat famous. Sam was obviously recognised as Captain America and he’d post videos of him doing dances with his nephews. Bucky, however, shared some old recipes he created when he cooked in the 40’s, which became very popular. Most of his followers didn’t even realise he was the Winter Soldier at first.
Sam still trained every morning in the front yard, though this time he invited his nephews to join him towards the end to play superheroes. He’d allow them to take turns with the shield as they fought of the bad guy (played by Sam). All the while, Bucky would lean against the doorframe and stare at Sam and wonder how he found this magnificent man.
