This kid seemed pretty cool, not sure why he was the leader, she thought Ren would be a great leader. And of course there was Pyrrha, but hey if he was picked then he must be better than he seems.

“I’m glad to be part of the team, I’m just glad I found Ren out in that forest.”

“You are terrifying, but in a good way. You’re a bad ass. You basically summon electricity from the sky to redirect at your enemies. You’re basically a mythological goddess.”

Jaune couldn’t help but smile though. “You two go back, huh? I noticed you came to the school together. Its good to have someone you know in a strange new place.”

"Weell I can't quite 'summon' lighting, I gotta get hit by it first. Then I get SUPER STRONG!!!" She struck a kinda ridiculous pose, flexing her muscles a couple times.

"And yea, me and Ren go way back. Heh, in fact I've known him since we were kids." The pink clad girl' face fell from her usual chipper demenor. Her smile receding, a melancholic feel came to her eyes.

Like the flip of a switch her smile returned, although her eyes remained. "So whats your story?"

This was bad, she had ‘poked the bear’ so to speak and needed to be ready now for the consequences of doing so. Ruby was forming snowballs as quickly as she could preparing for the deadly Valkyrie counter-strike. She had to be ready…she had to counter the counter!

She must be victorious.

“TAKE NO PRISONERS!” when the pink clad friend set food into the ‘waste’ Ruby let loose her first volley of counter-counter snowballs.

Nora spotted Ruby just in time to be nailed with another snowball.

“Rrrrraaaahhh!!!! Take this!!!” she started lobbing snowball after snowball in Ruby’s direction. Not many actually hit but they were mostly a distraction as she pulled out her launcher and loaded it with snow.

“Hahaha! This is so much easier! Get ready to get dunked oooon!!!!” the Valkyrie roared out a war cry.

Winter frowned as she tried to puzzle out what was happening. She’d allowed herself to be captured-there’d been a string of disappearances. The reason was uncertain. But it seemed to be in assorted major cities. It was part of why Winter had gone to Vale during the festival-not just to check i and report. But also to investigate. the string of disappearances-now confirmed as kidnappings.

“Can you remember anything about when you were taken?”

This was weird, Nora may not know Winter very well but she knew Weiss, if she was as talented and competent as she is then her sister must be leagues ahead of her. 

“How did this happen? I had heard a few crazy stories about huntsmen going missing, but no one had any good answers. One guy says its White Fang one says its some punks from Vale. I don’t believe it.”

The usually ecstatic girl dropped her head. 

“How are we gonna get out of this?”

She pulled her hammer out and set off running to her spot. “WAIT! If I’m hiding here, how will I know when to strike? Should we do a bird call? Oh Oh no, hand signals! No he’d catch onto it. hmmmmm.” She scratched her head, looking up at her yellow friend expectantly.

“Awww thanks, I’m sure to win if you think its hideous.” the excitable girl completely ignored his expressions and lack of interest in the conversation, focusing more on her own excitement for the festivities. 

“Oh come on you know you wanna try some of those cookies,” she pointed over at the table with her one free arm. “I think that Jaune made them.” She attempted hopping over to him to force lead him further into the party.

Mercury claimed not to be any kind of Christmas expert but the orange haired girl all tangled in colored lights seemed off. He was pretty sure those were supposed to go on the TREE not your body…but, there she was. Yet she was still bounding about laughing and talking …so she wasn’t stuck…did she do that on purpose really?

“Oh- haha- hey Mercury.” she was struggling to keep her giggles down. “Look! -hahhaha- IM THE CHRISTMAS TREE!!! AHHAHAHAHA.” she nearly fell to the ground from laughter, and the fact she may have wrapped her legs in the lighting. Accompanying her lights was a tacky fuzzy green sweater and I huge star attached to a bright yellow cap. 

“Let me illuminate you on my plan. If I stay like this I’m sure to win the ugly sweater competition! Then I’ll get all the cookies!!!! Pretty bright idea don’t ya think? Watt are you gonna wear?”

“Take that!” Ruby nailed the orange haired girl in the face rather satisfied as the snow fell form Nora’s hair int he beacon courtyard. Quickly using her semblance she dashed back behind her bunker to reload, things were far from over Nora Valkyrie was not to be trifled with lightly in any kind of battle.

Thwack! Nora got a face full of cold. She recognized the voice but couldn’t see where she was. Until she spotted a few rose petals going in the direction of the snowbank nearby.

“Aaah Ruby! It. Is. ON!” she dove for cover of a nearby bush and began stocking up snowballs. When she decided she had enough she stuffed them into her grenade satchel and took stand out in the proverbial no-man’s land.

“Oh Ruuuuby~ Come out and plaaaaaay~~~”

“As selected leader of Team JNPR for some reason I just wanted to say I won’t let you down, if you need anything I won’t let you down, and you scare me a little but I think that’s a useful tactic in combat, because you’re terrifying in the good way by being an actual force of nature.”

Jaune smiled as calmly as he could. He wasn’t calm. He’d been screaming on the inside since realizing Ozpin had made him leader. Him. With the forged transcripts. And no experience whatsoever.

Pyrrha was the logical choice. Followed by Ren. Then Nora. Then finally him.

He’d talked to Pyrrha in the woods, a lot. Ren didn’t seem very talkative. And both of them had gone out (something about groceries and not trusting them to do it), and Jaune was left at the dorm with Nora.

He figured now was as good a time to break the ice as ever. “I’m glad to be your teammate.”

“Alright, so we’re in agreement then, that Cardin creep gets it.”

They were away from their teams, two conspirators in the Beacon corridors planning the downfall of a bully to mutual friends and non. Cardin Winchester had gone far enough trying to corner Jaune and while he’d done well for himself to get away from that and kill an Ursa while he was at it according to Pyrrha there was the matter of punishment for the wicked.

No two people knew this better than the bombshell babes of RWBY and JNPR, Yang Xiao Long and Nora Valkyrie, respectively.

The red head spotted the bouquet on her desk as she woke up (at 3pm). She promptly bolted to it to inspect further.
