“I wanted to make sure you heard me.” His answer is quick and concise - and probably comes off as flippant or snarky. Inaho wasn’t one hundred percent intending that, but he could deal with whatever it wrought.
He takes care of the exchange of money, double checks that he didn’t calculate wrong, and then waves at his coworker with one hand, summoning them from their well-deserved break back into cashier hell.
“Right now. You have impeccable timing, as always, as my shift just ended. I’d already resolved that the next customer would be my last when it turned out to be you.”
Was that an invitation to hang out? Well, who was Nao to refuse? He reached back and undid the ties of his apron and jerked a thumb to the employee and storage area. “If you’ll give me a moment to sign out, I’ll join you at whatever table you pick out.”
Slaine’s face came off as stubborn at Inaho’s blatant reply, but he was already getting used to his nickname at this point. It was only a little embarrassing to hear it in public, even though it shouldn’t have been.
“My timing is only coincidental, but alright… if you say so.” He glanced up ever-so-slightly repeatedly to watch Inaho take off his apron and show his clothes underneath. Somehow, the apron suited the brunette. A lot of customary outfits did, and Slaine admired that quality about the simplistic boy.
“You don’t mind staying at your work place during the afterhours…?” his brow raised, but he nodded and pointed to a table in the corner that was near a window.
“I’ll wait for you over there.” Deciding to leave Inaho alone for a bit, he sat down at the desired table and took a bite of his ice cream. Surprisingly, it was just the right sweetness with the mint flavor, he was almost tempted to get another one. He glanced on over the direction Inaho was and then back at his sweet treat, wondering if he should be buying one for the other.
If Inaho was the type to smile ‘for no reason’ in the way that people always did in the movies when they had a pleasant experience or nice conversation, he probably would be doing so while cleaning himself up.
The brunet smelled faintly of sweets, which wasn’t a particularly gross smell but he would much rather smell like actual food, like eggs and bacon, or a hearty garden salad.
Faintly, he hoped that Slaine wouldn’t mind him smelling like work; because at the moment, there was nothing he could do about it. There were no scented soaps or lotions around, and he wasn’t the type to carry around cologne or things like that.
Realizing quickly that thinking about it wasn’t worth the energy, he picked up his satchel, put his apron away with the others, and nodded at his coworkers, signaling his leave.
“So, Bat.” Inaho sat right across from his friendly acquaintance and set his carryon in his lap, allowing himself to relax and stretch a little bit. “How’s the merchandise? Tasty?”
