Stellas Hope focuses on Large breed dogs as they are the hardest to place and the most euthanized in our shelers ,although we do not discriminate .Stellas Hope is dedicated to reducing the number of adoptable and not so adoptable dogs that are euthanized in our shelters through rescue rehabilitation and rehoming . We promote the education of spaying/neutering. Stellas Hope is a registered NON PROFIT 501(c)(3) org recognized by the IRS as a Tax exempt org . Any and all donations are TAX deductable under the law . Stellas Hope looks to rescue the dogs that no one else will . We have a soft spot for the unloved ,sick and neglected . For those of us who chose to spend our time rescuing homeless and abandoned pets, there is of course the obvious reason we support spay/neuter: pet overpopulation! (resulting in millions of pets being euthanized every year) Here are some shocking statistics: + Some 70,000 puppies and kittens are born every day in the U.S. + Between four million and six million pets are euthanized every year because they are homeless. + That means between 11,000 and 16,000 pets are euthanized every day simply because they are homeless. + An animal in a shelter is killed every 1.5 seconds. + Only one animal in 10 born in the U.S. gets a good home that lasts a lifetime. These facts alone are reason enough to spay/neuter. Failure to do so, creates more animals being born, more homelessness, and more death. Why Should your pet be spayed or neutered? + Spaying and neutering helps dogs and cats live longer, healthier lives. + Spaying and neutering can eliminate or reduce the incidence of a number of health problems that can be very difficult or expensive to treat. Spaying eliminates the possibility of uterine or ovarian cancer and greatly reduces the incidence of breast cancer, particularly when your pet is spayed before her first estrous cycle. + Neutering eliminates testicular cancer and decreases the incidence of prostate disease.
