hey do you know the significance of bare feet in fundie circles? i just rewatched a jillrick wedding clip where jill was making a (somewhat) bid deal about being a 'barefoot bride'. i also remember joy talking about considering going barefoot at her wedding but austin was against it so it was maybe just jill?

I don’t, I only know the expression of “barefoot and pregnant” that does very much describe quite a few fundies we watch LOL. Anybody? (Annie)

There’s a weird submission aspect to it too, that I’ve never fully understood. I’ve heard it mentioned, but more talked around than explained. Theres been several fundie brides who went barefoot, even in a church building wedding. (Mary)

Knowing how fundies like to take the Bible out of context, it’s probably related to Acts 7:33?

“Then said the Lord to him, Put off thy shoes from thy feet: for the place where thou standest is holy ground.”

...and them wanting to have a holy marriage? Idk, just a thought from a long time lurker ☺️
