Everyone loves fake boyfriends, right? This is such a cute version. It's not long and drawn out, but it feels like the love story is longer. I love this Derek and all the confessions and the sex scene are so adorable.

Thank you so much for continuing this blog! I love it, and I know I'm being recommended good fics when they come from here. In relation to added tags, could you please make sure to tag if it's bottom/top!Derek or bottom/top!Stiles? I love both but sometimes I'm in the mood for one or the other specifically, so it helps to know beforehand. :) Thanks again for all the awesome fic recs!
Hmmm... this is an interesting issue. The problem is that, unless I'm reading a fic for porny reasons, I don't actually pay very much attention to that.
I could certainly tag who tops and who bottoms in the fics that I also tag 'porny' (which is a completely and purely subjective tag anyway), but I'm not sure I could manage it in every fic. Does that work as a compromise? Any thoughts from others on this issue?

Oh man, this fic. Even though uraneia is one of my favourite authors, it took me a while to get around to reading this, because for some reason I've never really gotten into other Practical Magic AUs I've read. This one, though? It was just so great. I loved the Lydia story, I loved Stiles' magic, I loved Stiles' internal conflict.
This is a great example of a fusion that works really well - it follows the original, but it's different in all the ways that matter.
So... remember when I said I couldn't guarantee I wouldn't go on another long hiatus? Yeah, that happened.
I do want to continue this blog, though, so I'm making a bit of a change. I'm no longer going to use that graphic I was using for the titles. Instead, I'll be using a screenshot of the fic entry on AO3, which will mean I don't need to re-type all the relevant information. I'll still be adding my own comments on the fic as well as tags (and if there are any tags you'd like me to be using, please let me know.)
I continue not to guarantee consistency, but I can promise I'm always here and reading Sterek fic!
and home before dark by verity. Posted 2013-10-18. General, 3175 words.
In this vaguely historical/fantasy AU, Stiles is the blacksmith's apprentice and Derek is a hedgewitch who has just come back to town to be with his sisters. It's a cute story with what feels like an entire world behind it that you only see little hints of.

This was written in response to the badly-used-sub!Derek-with-a-newfound-praise-kink prompt that's been going around tumblr. I've seen it recced a lot since it was posted and it really is lovely. sub!Derek is not my thing from a porny perspective, but I thought the writing was excellent and the characters were sympathetic.
Wet Hot Werewolf Summer by thefarofixer. Posted 2013-06-02. Not Rated, 7811 words.
Camper Stiles has had a crush on counselor Derek for years, but this year Derek notices. I always love thefarofixer's writing and this is such a nice simple story. I always love longstanding crushes eventually reciprocated.

I'm sure you're all shocked - SHOCKED - to hear I liked a story involving Sterek and puppies. But this really is great - cute, light, funny and sweet. There's a creature going around eating puppies and Stiles is determined to stop it.

This is a really interesting heat fic. It counterposes Stiles' heat with the courtship that led up to it, and while there's tons of knotting and a million orgasms, the story succeeds at being emotionally relevant and realistic.

Omegaverse high school AU (to start). I first came across this series not for the Sterek, but for the first part which is probably my favourite Erica/Lydia fic ever. The third part just came out recently and it's very pregnancy-based, which is not always my favourite thing, but I love the writing and the characters and the universe enough to get over it.
Things We Know, Unsaid by uraneia. Posted 2013-08-15. Explicit, 6036 words.
Guys, this is so perfect. Stiles discovers Derek was a professional dom at some point in his past and, when he thinks Derek is ready for it, asks him for a sexual relationship. What I like the most about this story is that it's not only super hot BDSM (which I enjoy greatly), but the sex and the negotiation is really about deeper things - trust and love. It wins over both the pervert AND the romantic in me.

Very cute Christmas fic. Stiles decides to crochet scarves for the whole pack for their Christmas presents, and wackiness ensues. It's a little bit pre-slash but I found it emotionally fulfilling anyway, and it was very well-written.
age: a sum of years and experiences by hoars. Posted 2013-09-19. Not rated, 11285 words.
This is a tough one to write a paragraph for because it's actually seven stories in one, all exploring different age gaps between Derek and Stiles - some small, some large, some with Derek older, some with Stiles older. What's really amazing to me is how vivid these AUs are - even in a collection and in a short space, they really transport you to new and unique worlds. Just read the first one if you don't believe me - it's like nothing else I've ever read.

Derek's the head of a frat and Stiles ends up leading a prank war against them. And there's sex. This is the companion piece to There is a Brotherhood, which I adore up, down and sideways. This one is Derek's POV and, unlike a lot of second POV companions, it really brings something new to the story. I loved every second of it.
Hi guys! I'm back!
Sorry for the very, very long hiatus. I can't promise another one won't happen, but for now I'll be posting one every couple of days.
Hey! I read a fic forever and an age ago about alphas putting fake memories into the pack's head, do you have any idea what it was called? I want to say I found it on your page (which, btw, is the bomb) but this could also be a shot in the dark :)
My best guess would be Somebody That I Used To Know by percybyssheshelley. If that's not it, I think I have one or two others in my mindfuckery tag.
And thanks for the compliment!
General note: I'm going on vacation and I haven't really had time to queue up recs, so the next couple of weeks might be sparse.
Trust In This (Even If You're Scared Stiff) by otter. Posted 2013-07-20. General, 4021 words.
Otter wrote a thing! Kidfic is usually not my cup of tea but this fic is PERFECT. It's an amazing characterization of Stiles as a father and I can just totally see it. And Emmy is obviously a bad-ass, Derek is wonderful and the tiny hints of a larger world make me want a million fics in this AU.
