Former Shadow Justice Secretary Robert Jenrick has joined Reform UK, just hours after being sacked from the Conservative frontbench.

It is the most high-profile defection since the 2024 election.

Appearing at a press conference in London this afternoon, Mr Jenrick said the Conservative Party was “beyond saving”.

42,000 trading card items were scalped by an internet bot before they became publicly available this week.

'Scalper' is the term used for people who quickly buy up stock of an item in high demand to horde and resell at a heightened price to make a profit.

These resellers, in-person and online, have made it nearly impossible to buy trading cards and items in popular toy lines in the UK.

The art of collecting these cards has shifted from a fun, casual activity to a losing battle for million of people.

The most shocking example of scalping happened just this week.

For Prime Minister Keir Starmer, the top job in his media operation has become a revolving door.

In just over a year as Prime Minister, two senior Directors of Communications have left Downing Street.

Kier previously had another director as leader of the Labour party.

This week, he appointed a fourth.

The government is pushing forward with the largest reorganisation of local government in 50 years without costing it.

This revelation, first reported by the BBC, exposes a critical failure that could affect millions of people and billions of pounds in public money.

The government estimated that creating a single unitary authority in each of the considered 21 areas could save £2.9 billion over five years.

A new analysis by the County Council Network (CCN) shows that the reorganisation could cost up to £850 million over five years and deliver no long-term savings at all.
