if you are cis and you get paid to work with trans people (like in an activist position, a writerly position, a social work position) I cannot emphasize this enough.

You need to step down and tell your bosses they need to hire a trans person to fill your position. Seek out trans people you can directly recommend to fill your position. I can guarantee you that there is an unemployed trans person with more firsthand experiences and qualifications out there than you. 100% of the time.

You might have the option to get picked for a similar position again, but this is a life or death matter for the rest of us.
