the thing about being "good with kids" is all it takes is literally just not trying to control and mould them with every interaction. it's just being a normal person and engaging with them through normal interactions like having conversations and playing games. it's just being genuine and friendly and not perceiving them as lumps of wet clay you are there to shape. "oh you're so good with kids" thanks it's because I think they are people
in the job i once prayed to god for
how to become good at everything no practice no effort no motivation no passion no talent fast free
Getting high and fucking around on Depop should be my job at this point. I truly love it; absolutely thrills me. There are so many unique pieces to discover!! And you can randomly get amazing things for like $4. And you can bargain! It's kinda shitty for actually making money, but the shopping experience rocks.
If you pay attention to what happens to artists, you can easily predict a lot of things.
Example:
Streaming services have gotten out of control. They keep getting more expensive while simultaneously making the services shitier.
But before that happened, they were already fucking over the very artists who made them so much money. Us, the consumers, then shouldn't wonder why we eventually got fucked over too.
They take from the artists first, and then move onto everyone else.

keep thinking about how I wrote in my dissertation about how every time a new form of public/social space emerges it's immediately popular with kids and teenagers who see it as a chance at freedom and then adults colonise it and kick them out. this happened with malls in the 80s and diners in the 50s and pool halls in the 20s. my dad was doing research on this trend in like 1975. and I was like "yeah so this is going to happen to the internet" and then five years later every government suddenly decided to ban kids from everywhere online. I hate being right especially when I don't even get paid for it
Getting ready.

Please keep interacting with this post because when I come to tumblr to procrastinate, this shows up again in my notifications and guilts me into writing again

I remember when i was a kid, I was afraid of unhoused people. I felt sad for them, but I also felt uneasy. Many adults seemed to dislike them, they didn't get to bathe regularly, and sometimes they spoke to themselves out loud. I didnt yet understand that anyone could find themselves homeless and that it affected certain populations more than others.
.
Over the last few years, I've made an effort to engage with people on the street and undo whatever fears and stereotypes I still had lingering in my subconscious. Over time, I've had some moments that have impacted me and today was one of them.
.
While walking home, I saw an old man holding a sign outside of a bakery. I said hello and asked if I could get him something from the shop. I thought he might ask for a meal, because the bakery also had sandwiches and bowls, but he surprised me and asked for a croissant. I went inside, looked at all the options, and asked the staff what their favorite kind was because I didnt know what to choose. When I handed the small box to the man outside, I told him that this was apparently a really good one. He looked into my eyes and told me this type of croissant had been his wife's favorite.
.
All of this is to say: I will never look at croissants the same way again 😭😭
Damn. That's a lot easier than whatever I was planning
If the system can't survive the people in the Epstein Files getting prosecuted, then the system deserves to die.
