THE VERY FIRST STAR TREK SLASH FIC PUBLISHED
“A Fragment out of Time”, published in 1974. Kirk / Spock. page 1 page 2
I had to share it with you because I can’t stop laughing, and every time I reread it it just gets funnier and fUNNIER
This fan fiction is older than the push-through tabs on soda cans.
Your grandma wrote this on her Commodore 64.
I miss my Commodore 64
Oh my dear, sweet children. The Commodore 64 came out in 1982. This was produced on a typewriter and probably mimeographed. And while it may seem funny now, it took more courage to write and distribute this than you will ever know.
Reblogged for that last comment.
respect your elders
Children, in the olden days fanfiction was written on a typewriter, copied and sent by snail mail. Getting one one of those letters from across the world was every bit as exciting as getting a notification that your favorite writer posted a new fic.
It’s been said before, but the fact that this fic begins with the dialogue assertion “We’re by no means setting a precedent” is endlessly amusing to me.
Diane Marchant changed all our lives. May she rest in peace.
The precedent line is especially amusing when you bear in mind that “A Fragment Out of Time” is not only the first Star Trek slashfic to be published in a widely distributed magazine: it’s believed by some to be the first slashfic of any kind to be widely published.
In 1974 it was illegal to send pornography through the USPS. So distributing fic like this via mailed newsletter was literally dangerous. And they knew it.

On a budget of 50$, it was hard to accomplish exactly what we wanted for Padme Amidala’s lake dress, but for our budget we’ll never stop loving this dress!
Made from Casa Collection fabrics from Joann, this dress consisted of three separate dye sessions, and was worn for MegaCon 2017 by @spellementary
When we came across this remnant at a local fabric store, we just had to take it!
Made up of purple, silver, gold, and blue metallic flecks, this skirt was a great addition to a mermaid outfit.
We adore multi-way dresses, and wanted to try our hands at making one that was inspired by Harley Quinn!
Made out of a soft stretch knit, and with pockets, this dress is a little heavier than what we would normally wear in Florida, but something that we’re thankful to have experimented with!
Ready to go whole hog?
Designed for SuperCon last year, this dress was a labor of love done in an incredibly short time frame. Featuring a 3D printed hook and a hand painted tattoo, the suede is nearly the same color as the wearer!
Josh Petersdorf actually got to see the dress, and loved it!
Let’s get physical!
Another costume that had been designed for TFCon Toronto, this bodysuit was intended to an 80s fitness inspired Tailgate! While the costume never came to fruition, the bodysuit is still a sparkley, eye-catching piece that we’re happy to have!
You might not have seen much of it, but we’ve been busy as bees around here!
While we’re relocating and prepping for Megacon, we thought we’d bring you some of the other things we’ve made in the past year!
First up is this multi-panel dress, maybe from iridescent purple-to-blue dupione fabric from Yaya Han! This dress was made for @spellementary for a Lost Light Rodimus costume that he wore at TFCon Toronto! We also constructed the helm, which was 3D printed in PLA, and painted with our favorite Martha Stewart craft paint. They were an ideal match, and went nicely with the color palette for Rodimus!
We found that the dress didn’t hold up very well, and the fabric frayed a dangerous amount. So while a beautiful final product, we don’t really intend to work in this fabric again.

Paging Doctor Kowaiiju to the OR, Paging Doctor Kowaiiju to the OR!
A subset of the Stitchsquatch cryptid creation family is Kowaiiju Lolita!
This adorable menhera inspired skirt is custom made fabric designed by @tralma and features medicial motifs! Menhera, a “sickly cute” style of fashion, generally features medical motifs and is usually done with looser fitting clothes. But being big on lolita, we wanted to try to bring the two together with this skirt!
While currently a one-of-a-kind, a skirt can always be made for you! Feel free to reach out to us to get one of your own.

Not art in a traditional sense, but a dress I collaborated on with my friends for the holidays!
One of our earliest creations!
What’s better than Valentine’s Day and Harley Quiin? Well - what about a Valentine’s Day Harley Quinn?
This jumpsuit was made using a Simplicity pattern with some moderate modifications, out of Glitterbug fabric for @spellementary!
Upcoming skirt/dress ideas for lucio, symmetra, voltron, and miraculous ladybug!
Welcome!
