plans for the full moon on August 26th🌕💜

on this day i’ll be camping with my friends, so for two reasons i’m going to have to plan much more carefully for the full moon than i usually do: since i’m still in the broom closet i’ll need to be super subtle, as my friends will be staying and sleeping in the same place as me, and i’ll also have limited materials since i won’t be in my bedroom at home, where i have all of my witchy belongings.

i’ll also be recording this in my grimoire, but i thought it’d be better to write out my plans digitally first so i can edit my ideas any time i want. hope you enjoy!

H2O + Lunar and Solar Energies

Merry meet!

Maybe you’ve heard of charging water with the energy of the sun or moon.

Even if charged on cloudy days and nights, these waters can be used in countless ways and inherit the properties of cosmic events like eclipses, zodiacal movements, and lunar phases.

Lunar H2O

Full moons offer the most abundant light in the night sky. A vessel of full moon water can be great for use in blessings, rituals, and consecrations.

Waning moons can aid you in crafting a water used to see inhibiting behaviors, people, and forces out of your life.

New moon waters can be versatile additions to your inventory as banishing and renewal themes may resonate with you.

Waxing moons are great for making water used for growth, development, and increase.

Some hypothesize different phases of the moon in other ways. For instance, the new moon can be seen as either the beginning or ending of a cycle. Depending on your need, the type of moon water will reflect your attunement with her.

Solar H2O

Consider the sun as a way to charge water you can use for vitality, vigor, improving health, abundance, self-confidence and even sun-brewed teas!

Tips

Don’t use plastic containers.

Glass jars and bottles with lids can keep contaminants out of your water.

Don’t drink water from an unsafe source.

Though water from the source is thought to have the most energy, it is not always a viable option.

Don’t leave moon water out into the daylight hours and vice versa with sun waters.

You can charge your water over any number of days/nights.

Draconian Ritual Book by Asenath Mason. I’m reading through it, and….well it’s definitely not Conway’s book. It’s a LHP book and this is….so different. I kinda like it. Not all of it fits within my paradigm, definitely not the deities/spirits, but….it’s definitely a nice change from D. J. Conway.

My advice for Beginner Witches.

Dear Witchy Friends. 🌙

I’ve been requested this post various times and finally I’ve had the time to write it. Many of you have asked me for some advice for beginner witches.  There are countless posts and books and articles out there that talk about this topic, written by people way more experienced than I am; this is just my personal take on the subject. My advice is based on my personal experience with magick, and, of course, it’s not the absolute truth.  Nevertheless, I hope that this post will be helpful to anyone who wants to approach witchcraft.

Every witch is a real witch. I can’t count the times I found myself asking the question of whether I was a “real” witch or not. All the energy and time I spent thinking about this, was energy and time I didn’t spend progressing in my craft. If you choose to be a witch, you can be one, no matter your level of experience and no matter what your beliefs are. There is no such thing as a “natural” witch; you don’t need to have witches in your family or ancestry to be one.

No Gods, no masters. While all forms of religious magick are perfectly valid and should always be respected, not all witches adhere to a specific religion or worship specific deities. It’s easy to be persuaded that the only way to do magick is to work with a certain God and Goddess, especially since the vast majority of the witchcraft community online is formed by Wiccan witches. As a witch with an atheist upbringing, this was a big problem for me, since I could not (and I still can’t) bring myself to worship a God. You don’t have to force yourself into beliefs that don’t resonate with you; many forms of magick don’t involve religion, such as Alchemy and most of The Left Hand Path.

You are your own temple. Magick can be done anywhere, anytime. As a beginner witch I always thought that I had to go to specific places in order to be inspired. I guess I had this stereotypical idea of the witch that walks through the forest and becomes one with Nature. While it’s ok to do this if it’s your thing, it’s important to remember that you are all that you need and there isn’t a place inherently more magickal than another. When casting a spell or doing a ritual, especially as a beginner, it’s better to be comfortable and relaxed in a place you know well and that makes you feel safe. 

Expect and welcome change. Witchcraft is a transformative experience. You will find yourself believing one thing one day and completely changing your mind the day after. As you go through your first year as a witch, you will probably end up challenging all the beliefs that you had in the beginning. It’s fine to try out different forms of magick and shift between different belief systems; as your ideas evolve, you will discover what is really significant to you. Regret nothing; every experience you made is a part of your spiritual journey and it won’t be wasted. 

Magick in theory and practice. Theory is important. As any witch will tell you, if you want to do magick, read as much as you can, write as much as you can. Nonetheless, abstract knowledge is pointless if it’s not associated with practical experiences. I know that performing a ritual or casting a spell can be scary and overwhelming in the beginning. Still, it’s important to experiment and try new things. You will never know if something works for you unless you try. As a beginner witch, you will find yourself pushing the boundaries of your comfort zone - don’t be afraid and go for it!

Does anyone have any knowledge of a lightning or storm dragon in folklore or mythology?  I’m having a little trouble finding anything (if there even is anything), and I’m wondering if someone might be able to point me in the right direction.

It’s so disappointing that that the closest witchy store I want to go to is at least an hour and a half away.  At least one’s I’ve been able to find online.

There is one kinda metaphysical shop in town, buuuut...

I really, really hate the owner.  He gives me the heebie-jeebies.  And it’s not just me.  I don’t know anyone who like going in there when he’s there.  And he’s almost always there...

He gives off the vibe that he runs some kind of horrible cult and I hate giving him money.

My thoughts keep getting drawn back to this dream I had a couple years ago about being a witch and accidentally calling down a powerful lightning dragon.  They seemed angry at first, but they were only frustrated that I didn't seem interested in letting them help me become more powerful.  That couldn't have been farther from the truth.

I was in shock at having this gigantic dragon made of purple storm clouds and lightning whose voice sounded like loud rolls of thunder land on top of me and pin me to the ground.  I tried to get out that while it was an accident that I did want it’s help very badly, but I was jolted awake by my alarm.

I never forgot that dream, and I have no idea if it even really means anything.  But I’m a witch.  I can make it mean something.  I should try to find out if there’s anything at all about lightning dragons...
