Kyoya had never wanted to be an artist, he certainly had never wanted to draw doujinshi of him and his friends and he definitely did not want to write a romance about himself and Tamaki. But then Kyoya didn't always get what he wanted.

Every time someone comments on my old fic, i feel like I'm an old actor getting paid residuals. Appreciate you, old-fic-commenters. Key source of emotional income, tbh.
fandom etiquette as a whole died when people who didn’t grow up on fandoms became stans during lockdown, yes, but why am i seeing people openly mocking fics on twitter. why am i seeing screenshots of fics with captions like “bro what is this 😭.” why am i seeing people mock fic writers for not knowing how sports or theater or college or any other organization operates in the real world.
“college is absolutely nothing like this” “why are we writing four people on the team scoring a hat trick in one game” “so tech work is nothing like this, hope that helps!”
if you don’t like a fic, and if you can’t suspend your belief enough to enjoy a fic that exaggerates or ignores real-world orgs, you don’t have to read it. you don’t have to screenshot it and put it on blast for twitter. you don’t have to post a link to it in the replies. the back button is literally there on your phone. it’s not giving baby’s first fandom anymore, it’s giving entitled asshole and it isn’t as cute as you think it is.
New Meme Alignment Chart came to me in a fit of Mania this morning. Have fun kids!
This post is less than 24 hours old and I am having a GREAT time rifling through the notes and seeing everyone's OC's and series I've never heard of. None context with left tag screaming.
Happy slightly belated one-year anniversary to this meme! Please keep sharing the blorbos.
This reappeared in my activity page and at 1.75 years old, I am thrilled to announce that of the almost 7,000 reblogs, nearly all of which have a filled out meme, the total number of fandoms I recognized without having to look the names has officially gotten to TWELVE.
Highlights from the notes:
At least a dozen Full Metal Alchemist ones, all of which agree that Ling doesn't know what the fuck is happening and that's everyone else's problem.
Multiple entries with figures from the bible that I have never heard of before
Dead Roman Senator Discourse
I am in love with everyone who hand-drew their OCs into the boxes. You're all beautiful.
People putting things like species of animals and pieces of furniture in here. I don't get it, but I get it.
The ones that are just first names without context. I want you to know I am mentally filling in the boxes with people I know with those names.
Tamaki: kyoya is like my wife, the mother to our children, bc he’s sort of the perfect woman in the way that’s he attentive and reliable and ever present and kind but composed and when I marry one day it’s going to be to a woman like that
Kyoya: 🙂
The host club:
People who consistently comment on each chapter of ao3 fics, we will love you forever.

i don't usually go for crack fic, but there's something really beautiful about fic that takes a cracky premise and plays it utterly straight, to the point of genuine human pathos that's only enhanced by the sheer ridiculousness of what's actually happening
Sometimes people get their start in fandom with something like, idk, the MCU or light action shows like Supernatural or children's fantasy like Warriors (this last example said with love), where the writing is an inconsistent mess, characterization can change on a dime, there's no themes stronger than like "family" or "stop the bad guy from changing our way of life". And their fandom experience is taking the hints of interesting ideas presented and dropped and spinning them into something interesting, or just fluffy and fun, and then discarding the rest.
And then these people come to a piece of art that like. Actually has themes and good writing and a coherent vision, but they're still trained on The Giant Trash Heap That Must Be Sorted Through, so they start their routine of excising fun yaoi moments and throwing the rest in the trash, except now the rest is like. A professionally made passion project by a group of skilled writers with a hundred years writing experience between them, and this fan is writing the same coffee shop AUs as ever. And it makes something that feels same-y and fandom out of something unique and well-made and, well, interesting.
And like. That's their prerogative, more power to them, but it makes me wanna pull my hair out to talk to these people about a piece of media I actually care about beyond that Trash Heap level.
And if you're someone whose only fandom experience has been Trash Sorting and you're running into people arguing with you abt their favorite piece of media, give them a second thought I guess?
love and peace, @kingofgoblets. this is a good addition
[ screencapture is of tags that say: #and honestly i still like that stuff. i too was born in the trash. raised by it. #but you gotta know when you're just scrapbooking bits and pieces #versus when you're reading a full rich text thoroughly #there is room in your brain for both i promise #but even on days when you only have scrapbook energy #don't. do NOT. Pick fights with the people doing the intense reading. #if that isn't what you're into today? you're allowed to scroll on #or open a new file and make that coffee shop au. ]

a feel like the new generation of fanfic readers NEED to understand that clicking on a fic (interaction) does nothing. ao3 has no algorithm. your private discord discussions of fic do not reach the authors. if you do not actively engage with writers they will stop posting. this isn’t social media this is community.
Thanks for answering my ask. I really love reading them...! 🤩😆
If you don't mind me ask (again), who are your top 10 favorite characters ever (from any media)? Why do you love them? Sorry if I ask too much....
This is somewhat tricky to ask why I like them and also to rank them as I don't tend to rank characters. I cycle them around in my head usually trying to dive into their complexities and internal conflict, and if there's a lot that's there, I'll come back to them. Otherwise, they're fun and then I set them aside.
So my favourite, continue to twirl around in my head characters are:
Kyoya Ootori
General Ouyang (from the radiant emperor series)
Victor Vale (from Vicious by VE Schwab)
Mizu (from Blue Eye Samurai)
Jayce (in the way where I think about the Arcane and League of Legends versions)
Petra Solano (from Jane the Virgin)
Special shout-outs to:
if Jiang Cheng were a woman (I think the fact that her father would have no official male heir plus even more similarity to her mother plus being a woman would make her more interesting)
Wendell Brambleby (from Emily Wilde's encyclopedia of faeries, wish you actually cared about academia you data fabricating son of a bitch faerie king)
Elanor Shellstrop (from the Good Place)
Basically, if characters are closed off emotionally? You got me. If character's don't seem closed off emotionally because they use being popular and/or nice to mask their feelings? You got me. If they're in impossible circumstances where they are striving towards impossible goals but refuse to admit defeat, stubborn until the day they die? You got me. Like the 6 characters on the official list are very similar in core internal conflict vibe, even though they're circumstances are very different.
