In terms of recorded media, the entry cost for podcasting is basically zero, and audio editing is easy enough that the bare basics can be learned in the afternoon (mastery takes far longer but bear with me)

it’s the perfect format for the Dunning-Krueger crowd to pick a niche where their amateur knowledge lets them feel self superior while they play expert about serial killers or something.

I follow a lot of audio fiction blogs, and for a second I was like "wtf the community is so amazing and supportive!"

And then I got to the end and remembered that talk podcasts exist and are like 95% of podcasts.

Every week I invite audio drama folks to share their achievements and shout out anything they'd like to promote! My intention is to get more eyes and ears on all the awesome fiction podcasts out there, and to introduce folks to some cool new audio dramas!

If you have a podcast, a new episode, a crowdfunding campaign, casting call, or anything else audio drama related that you'd like to promote, reblog this post! I'll reblog every one I see throughout the day!

I also want to hear from you if you're planning on releasing a fiction podcast this year! HAVANA SYNDROME is a spy thriller and family drama, set in modern times and spanning across borders. The final episode of the season premieres on February 13th, and I would love to get more people listening and joining us for the finale listening party 🥳

This story has been so personally powerful for me to create and share with the world because it so closely reflects my Cuban family and my childhood living overseas. It also gave me the chance to experiment with alternative reality games and multi city geocaches - world expanding fun connected to my show.

I will be writing the second season in the coming weeks, so this isn't the last you'll see of this show! It will probably be my longest show yet!

There will be millions of actions like this over the coming years. An important thing to remember is that for them to work (anywhere, not just libraries) is people absolutely can’t announce that this is what they are doing.

Not seeing constant acts of resistance doesn’t mean it isn’t happening all around you all the time. Some very effective methods require silence and secrecy.

been thinkin bout the fact that no story gets to end anymore. not naturally, not with the kinds of creative constraints that are a matter of course, but enforced by lack of funds or renewing of seasons in line with private equity calculations.

I wonder if it has to do with the rich’s unconscious obsession with avoiding death. Or maybe it’s about striking down the kind of time it takes for stories to sink in and change people.

Re-listening to Kalila Stormfire's Economical Magick Services by @stormfireproductions and wow if it isn't perfect for the current political climate. Art relecting life reflecting art etc. I know the storyline and podcast is finished but please go listen to it if you haven't already and go listen again if you already have

Did you catch the "friendly" exchange between the FBI agents and the CIA Supervisor in Episode 2? This was directly inspired by my experiences learning from and about intelligence officials across the U.S. security apparatus and history.

(I may still be slightly bitter about losing a certain State Department scholarship because I pointed this interagency tension out to the interview committee.)

How do you think this affects our current surveillance state?

Late night at the taqueria. You're not gonna wanna miss "Episode 9: Black Ops", I promise. I think it's my favorite episode I've ever done sound design for.

Side note: this episode in particular repeatedly references the X-Files and (indirectly) Twin Peaks, so this is my thanks to David Lynch - whose works and influences also inspired me and this show, too.

People sometimes forget audio dramas are often made by small teams, sometimes even just one person. It’s incredible the quality of art indie creators make, with little budget and having to do it for hobby. I’m proud of all the creators out there. Celebrating you this holiday season! 🥂
