Peeta was always going to heal from the hijacking. It was never meant to be permanent.

Peeta was hijacked as a weapon against Katniss. The goal was for Peeta to kill Katniss and District 13 to kill Peeta. Effectively destroying the symbol of the rebellion by the hand of her lover (The Capitol wanted Peeta dead just as much as Katniss). Two birds, one stone.

Katniss herself states he would have killed her if their reunion had been private. That’s not what happened. Peeta didn’t kill Katniss and therefore had to rationalize his actions after the fact.

Nothing made sense once the venom started to wear off. Katniss is a mutt? Who makes mutts? Katniss tried to kill him in the games? Who put them in the games? Katniss only pretended to love him? Who forced them into a public romance? Katniss is helping District 13 destroy Panem? Wasn't District 13 gone?

The lies the Capitol planted in his head were never going to last. Not when Katniss rattled off details about him or stroked his hair or kissed him. Peeta was always going to find his way back to Katniss.

i recently pulled an all nighter and re-binge read it and good LORDDDD it hits so good every single time. i don’t know if you’re still writing it (i really hope you are!) but it’s such a masterfully written, beautiful story.

Yes, I am still writing, just very slowly. I'm having a very hard time with getting this next chapter to cooperate, and add to that all the family/work stuff going on in my life (kind of a non-stop ride from multiple angles at this point) I just haven't had the bandwidth to put as much focus into it as I want. I WILL finish Midnights, and I have SO many other ideas, it's just a matter of finding the time.

the thing about the mummy movies is that you really spend most of the time thinking "wow brendan fraser's character is so cool" or "man oded fehr is so mysterious and heroic" when the fact of the matter is that these two

are the absolute most batshit insane heroes in the entire franchise

these two are intellectual loner siblings with archeology backgrounds who read and speak ancient egyptian, hire a dude directly out of prison to take them to a lost city of gold, and fight mummies literally with their bare hands. twice.

no one in these movies stands a chance against the carnahans. frankly they're lethal in how willing they are to make the absolute and most undeniably deranged decisions. jonathan pickpockets a dude on fire. evy's resurrected from the dead and immediately remembers how to use sai. they're racking shotguns from a cliff in this scene and then proceed to blow away half the antagonists.
