I just finished sotr so here are some hunger games aus.

In no particular order,

1. insanity laughs under pressure (we're breaking) by robinsworld

Summary:

"Holly Wheeler!" Mike's heart drops. He glances at his baby sister, who freezes at the unexpected call. It's a one in a million chance - and yet Holly seemed to inherit their older sister Nancy's bad luck. He knows what he has to do. He wishes he didn't, because Will is up there on the stage, but he isn't going to watch his twelve-year old sister fight for survival. "I volunteer!" he yells, and Holly, who realises what Mike is doing, tries to hold him back but he shrugs her off. "I volunteer as tribute!" OR: When Holly's name is called for the Hunger Games, Mike volunteers to take her place. As if it isn't bad enough, the second tribute for their district is none other than Will Byers, his ex-best friend. Mike is stressed. Will is anxious. And Nancy, their mentor, is struggling to stop herself from trapping them both in a cage and forcing them to sort out their feelings towards each other.

Summary:

Some nights, Steve’s side of the bed is empty, and Nancy knows what President Brenner is making him do. So she sets an alarm to get up early and has coffee, a shower, and a blanket ready for when he gets home, because she can’t stop this from happening but she can sure as hell make it better afterwards. In turn, he does the same for her on the nights where she has to grit her teeth and go out, because the Capitol doesn’t value piano playing half as much as they value her spreading her legs for them. Then Jonathan shows up for his half-month visits and he’s there for both her and Steve, cooking his mother’s favorite soup recipes, and she kisses Jonathan as he stirs the pot. He takes photos of her and Steve around the apartment, capturing what he calls their “good angles.” Steve chases Jonathan around the living room and kitchen until he reaches Jonathan and tackles him with tickles. Through all of this, Nancy’s heart will grow and grow until it feels fit to burst. She knows this can’t last, that this fragile relationship can be blown up at any moment by the Capitol, but she just sinks into it for now, letting her be as happy as she can be. Summary:

These are pretty popular so wait till part 2 if you've read all of these.

Summary:

“Looks like I bit you.” Will tilts his head to get a better look. All Mike can do is stare at him. His fluffy hair at the front, clumped pieces at the back where he’d slid his fingers in a mere few minutes before. His pretty green eyes that look hazel or even brown in this light, the dark circles he gets when he drinks framing them like intricate paintings. A satisfied, bloody smile. Mike isn’t satisfied. He swallows thickly, choking down the words 'don’t you want more?' Or: Will dresses as a vampire for a college halloween party, but Mike thinks his costume isn’t bloody enough. Will lets him fix it. Mike goes into a crisis.

2. honey-mouthed by smoosnoom (moonsooms)

Summary:

“Do you want to go home?” He questions, leaning close and voice soft, and Will pauses, before nodding again. Mike lets out a breath, and lets his hand press against Will a little more firmly when he starts to sway in place again. “Okay, let’s go.” Then he looks up and is met with smug faces, and Mike flushes when he realizes his own hypocrisy. “I don’t talk like that,” Max recalls, voice high-pitched and overly girly and – Mike definitely doesn’t talk like that. According to everyone in his life, Mike has a voice reserved just for Will. He tries to figure out what that says about him.

3. Purple Rain (I only want to see you) by babyjunedoe

Summary:

The freckled boy turns the notepad around and lifts it for Will to see. On the page is a message and Will reads twice to confirm he’s not dreaming. HI :) Will furrows his brows but he can’t hide the smile teasing the corners of his lips. He blinks at the boy in front as he too lifts the corners of his mouth. Will waves his free hand in which he holds his pen and mouths, “Hi.” -or- The Byers move to Lenora and Will finds himself amazed by his neighbour's captivating eyes. The same neighbour has a window facing Will's own bedroom and he communicates through notes like he's in some stupid romcom.

Summary:

El’s mouth twists to one side, the way it does when she’s about to deliver bad news. Mike’s gut sinks further. “Will’s bringing Andy home for the holidays to meet everyone.” Logically, there is only one possible context behind all of this, but that does not mean Mike is willing to believe it before he has to. “Right,” he says, feeling vaguely on the verge of hyperventilating, “and- El, who the fuck is Andy?” At this, El’s expression of thinly veiled pity shifts into proper shock, her eyes going wide and round. “Oh,” she says, “oh, dear.” Mike comes home from his first semester at college with a plan: to make Will Byers his boyfriend. Unfortunately, it appears someone else has already beaten him to it.

Summary:

Just as Will opened his mouth to ask, Mike finally turned back, his eyebrows knitted together in a way that Will couldn’t hope to translate despite their years of friendship. “Eleven didn’t commission the painting.” Mike’s words rang out, the softness of the music doing nothing to soften the blow of his statement—implying a question but stating a fact, leaving no room for deniability. Will understood now—why he was quiet, tense even. The dim lighting seemed all too bright, as though casting Will in a spotlight, inescapable.

Eleven points to the picture one more time—points to Will one more time. And with a voice full of conviction and full of truth, she whispers, “Will.” Or: November 6, 1987. Four years after Will Byers' disappearance and mysterious death, things begin to get a little... strange in Hawkins, Indiana.

Summary:

His hand is steadily aching. Will says, “You shouldn’t have punched him.” Mike pushes his fingers into his thighs. “That’s stupid.” “I wish you didn’t,” Will readjusts. He brings up a hand to hold Mike’s face again, fingers a little damp where they press against his cheek, his jaw. Mike wants to lean into it. “He isn’t – he doesn’t bother me anymore, you know. What he says. It doesn’t matter. He doesn’t matter.” Mike shrugs. “I don’t regret it,” he says, and Will leans away, looks at him properly. “I’d do it again.” Mike gets hurt, and Will fixes him up, in more ways than one.

Stranger things hanahaki aus anyone?

Hanahaki Disease is a fictional condition where a person suffering from unrequited love coughs or vomits flower petals because plants grow inside their lungs.

In many cases, their love isn't always unrequited.

Summary:

When Steve is seven years old, he coughs up yellow lily petals directly onto the lap of his au pair. When Steve is twenty years old, he coughs up gardenias for a dead man.

3. my house of stone, your ivy grows by cunninghams

Summary:

When she opened her eyes and looked into the sink, her knees nearly buckled beneath her. A single, bloodied rose petal stared back at her. “Holy fuck,” Robin breathed. or, a hellcheer hanahaki disease au.

Summary:

There’s something rotten in the Temple of One, the living god. When trainee cleric William, the particular favorite of One, goes missing just before he is due for full initiation into Temple service, his friend enters the Temple to find him. Summary:

Even under the harsh white light of the bathroom, Will still looked good, his honey brown eyes furrowed in concern and lips slightly parted. He was beautiful, and Mike wanted to bite him. He recoiled a bit at the thought but now that he had thought it, it wouldn't go away. He could imagine it, digging his teeth into Will’s wrist, blood beading from the teeth marks faster than he could lick it up. The rushing in his ears got louder, twin heartbeats thudding in his ears and Mike turned to heave into the toilet again, not even bothering to stop the sobs that were ripping through him. - Mike Wheeler has always had shit luck; he just didn't think it was this shit. Something is wrong with him, and it all started when he was attacked by a stray Demo-bat.

3. Heart in a Headlock by lifeinecstasy

Summary:

The pain strikes all of a sudden, shooting up from his neck as if to accompany the fog in his mind. He tries to move and realises that Wilhelm is pressing him against the wet wall. His body heats up at the threat, wanting to pick up his arms to push the boy off, but instantly Mike realises that his limbs are frozen. He looks down to see the cigarette slowly sliding through his limp fingers until it drops to the ground. The heat in his body quickly becomes torture, spreading like a thousand needle pricks. Even when he opens his mouth to scream, Mike doesn’t hear any sound come out of his throat, the only noise in the alleyway being Wilhelm shifting against him, tilting his head so he can sink his fangs deeper into Mike’s neck. --- [In the months after March 1986, the Party recovers even as they continue their search for Vecna. Mike Wheeler, as always, does not get a break.]

Summary:

Mike hasn't had Will's blood ever since. It felt strange at first—like not being allowed to eat the birthday cake before the guests arrive. Something temporary. His magic hums inside of him, excited. His fingers twitch against the carton. Maybe Will was wrong, maybe this is different than having a favorite kind of pizza. More personal. O negative sits differently in Will’s head than double black olives with extra cheese does. More intimate. “Oh.” Will blinks again. And maybe O negative sits differently in Will’s head, because it also flows through his veins. He feels obligated to tell Mike. “I’m O negative.” Mike’s pupils widen again. “I know.” His voice is low, gravelly. Summary:

But, just for a second, doubt slivers into his mind. Because… What if it is real? What if that person in the mirror is really him? But that can’t be, because who he’s looking at right now is clearly, undeniably–

A girl.

When Mike unexpectedly wakes up as his girl counterpart in what feels like a parallel world to his own, he has to go through the motions of figuring out exactly what happened.

From learning how to act his part to trying to find a way out of this universe that seems to have been molded especially for him, how can Mike escape a world he doesn't fully hate? And when he starts forgetting what his life was like before, how can he convince himself to chase after the version of himself that he once despised?

After that disappointing finale, we all need something to console us, so here is one of my favourite fics set after the epilogue showing over favourite people finding their way back to eachother.

Lost Without You by Julia_Skysong

Summary:

Will burst into one of the most blinding, dazzling smiles Mike had ever seen. It wouldn't matter if they were on the darkest, cloudiest night in the middle of the ocean; Will was a beacon of light. Mike couldn't tell if there were actual stars in his eyes or if it was just a reflection, but it didn't matter. Will was too stunningly beautiful, and that look was too intense, and he had to look away as his stomach turned and his brain tried to come up with a generic response to whatever Dustin was saying on the radio. The past few weeks he had been desperately trying to convince himself that it was just his old crush rearing it's head. He had moved on from Will, really. They could be friends again without all the relationship drama that came between them in highschool. But sitting on the top of a hill on a cold November night he realized nothing had changed at all.

After graduating, both Mike and Will struggled to adjust to life after the Upside Down. It didn't help they had already drifted apart. But now, 8 years later, Mike finally reached out again, and the 2 struggle to rebuild their friendship while also hiding their romantic feelings for each other.

We all know and love Bravebyers Fics where paladin!mike is transported to Hawkins, so here are my top 10 all time fav fics that i regularly go back to reread

In no particular order:

1. o green world (don't desert me) by petitesainte

Summary:

It’s there, even if the knight is half-turned from him; The jaw, the cheekbones, the lips, the draw of eyebrows, the scar over the nose—all of them, known. Familiar as the back of Will’s hand. His jaw drops. Because staring back at Mike Wheeler, with his chest heaving under what must have been almost a hundred pounds of metal, is… Mike Wheeler.

2. i'm so sick of myself by honeymooney

Summary:

“He really does look like Mike,” Lucas breathes, as he gives Mike’s twin a scan, head to toe.

“Yeah, if Mike were way hotter and a knight?” Max chips in, and Will can vaguely hear Mike muttering again. “He looks so medieval, like he’s from Camelot or some shit.”

“I am Michael,” the knight begins to plead again. He turns his doe eyes back to Will, returning to his side like a diligent guard, even going as far as to reach out and take his hands. “Please, you have to believe me. I would never lie to you. Have I ever broken our oath? Let me prove it.”

Will was a bit preoccupied with gazing into the knight’s eyes, his cheeks flushing under the intense stare and the way his hands were held so gently. Mike had no issues ruining their moment.

3. in another life, you still would've turned my head by tearsofsaudade

Summary

Michael stepped closer to Will, until he was nearly pressed against his side. He looked at him, head tilted down to meet his gaze. His boots made him taller, making the height difference he and Mike shared even more pronounced. Will shivered when he felt a hand press against his lower back. “My choices are yours, my prince. If you would like me to distance myself, I will do so without hesitation. Would you like that?” Will stared, mouth agape. Michael’s eyes were boring into his soul. Mike had never looked at him like that, and it was doing things to him. Slowly, he shook his head. Michael smirked, looking pleased. “Hey,” Mike snapped. “I said back off, okay?” When an alternate version of Mike, a strong, confident knight, appears in Hawkins, the Party attempts to help him get home, and Will attempts to survive his flirting.

4. where i go, will you still follow? By sirmichael (shootsharpest), willthevvise

Summary:

By all accounts, though, this should have worked. William had pored over countless volumes from the royal Library, and, when all other remedies failed, had ventured deeper, darker. Surely there would be some ancient magic strong enough to break Sir Michael from his trance.

A dangerous spell goes awry. Sir Michael vanishes off the face of the earth, and a disgruntled teenager takes his place. Worlds away, Will Byers discovers a wrench has been thrown in his plan to have a great summer.

5. I don't think there is a universe, where I don't love you by dunnowhyimmakingthis

Summary:

Teen for language. When the party is out for a fun "beach day" very vaugely after season 4, but before season 5, strange things happen. Will starts having some sort of vision, and suddenly there's another guy who looks strangely like Mike? Why is he pointing a real life sword at the party?

6. remember me, love (when i am reborn) by eredmes

Summary:

Sir Michael assesses them both. He seems to accept whatever he finds, nodding slowly. “I see. My apologies, it seems I have gotten ahead of myself. For how long have you two been courting, then?”

Someone chokes behind them, and for a second, Mike honestly thinks he’s misheard him. The look on his face is dead serious, though, stoic in a way that makes it very clear he’s not joking.

“What?” he croaks. He looks over at Will, who looks just as caught off guard as he feels.

“You need not be shy,” Michael reassures them, back straightening. “I, too, was hesitant when William and I first began our courtship. I understand.”

When Mike’s doppelgänger shows up dressed like something straight out of one of their D&D campaigns, Mike thinks he ought to be thrilled. There are alternate universes. There are alternate universes with knights and wizards and dragons. And, honestly, Mike probably would be thrilled, under normal circumstances. The guy is just so weird about him and Will.

7. holding on to our little moment (i'll never forget it for as long as I live) by Anonymous

Summary:

"I do not understand. My eyes tell me you are not him, you look like an imitation. But my soul... it tells me otherwise."

Uhm. What?

"What?"

Will's eyes flicked up towards the other Mike again, and he watched as not-Mike's eyebrows were slowly raising up in- surprise? Shock? Will couldn't tell.
