I don't know if I would consider myself to be an animist or not, but I absolutely adore feeling how alive everything is. Everything feels so distinctly alive to me, more than just "living," and I wish there was more adequate language to put these feelings into coherent words.
The heatwaves coming off the blacktop generated by the sun on a cloudless day. The smell of petrichor after it rains, decorating everything with shining droplets and leaving puddles for the birds to splash around in. The church bells that fills the valley with a song every few hours and echoes through the trees. All of those things possess a spirit of their own in some way.
To me spirits and life aren't just narrowed down to one thing. Not just one spirit per rock or tree or animal. A spirit can exist from a collection of natural occurrences, changes, and inhabitants which I can sometimes commune with through emotions rather than words. Maybe this is what some people mean when they refer to Spirit with the capital "S."
Reminder
I love how when I’m consecrating something, I pull out the oils and the prayers and the sigils and the energy work, and when I’m desecrating something it’s just
*shakes spell envelope vigorously* THANKS FOR EVERYTHING. YOU ARE DESECRATED. YOU ARE JUST NORMAL PAPER NOW. GOT IT??
maybe growing up is just becoming who you were at 14 again but learning how to love her this time
How I feel washing out my pasta sauce jars to keep for witchcraft:
Was literally doing this today!
listen to me, this is so so important: you've gotta get used to really giving it your 60% as a default. like don't half-ass it necessarily but try not to go over 70% or so of an ass. you'll feel better and live a happier more fulfilled life, and on the rare occasions where you do need to lock the fuck in you'll be able to pull off bullshit that the sad miserable wretches giving it their 100% can never dream of, because they're busy draining themselves dry and you have energy reserves to spare.
If you're ever scared of ghosts or demons, I wholeheartedly recommend:
✨️ Being a little bit silly ✨️
Just walked around my flat making duck noises 🦆🦆
AGREE this is a Chaos Magic principle at its most basic: Laughter Has No Opposite! It is a very effective banishment tool. I like maniacal wizard cackling, but it's also effective to just make weird goblin noises and giggle wordlessly.
Yeah, this keeps happening lately 😅
never underestimate the healing power of a patch of sunlight
it's gonna be okay (/threat)
and if the sun ain’t shining for you I hope the moon makes up for it
Do you ever worry about the deities who aren't widely worshipped?
Or even really spoken about much?
The ones who fall to time?
Or do you think that a God never truly dies but only sleeps?
And that, some day, if someone finds them then they can be worshipped and brought to life once more?
