OT: I barely read the articles. When the big clump of NPC ones came out (before the little headshot blurbs, though they are guilty too) I skimmed a few. They were all ridiculously similar and stereotypical. Pass.

I do wish the site would hire writers but I also see why they can’t/don’t. Depending on the division of labor it would just be more hassle or too much money.

Someday, probably a long way down the road (if Subeta lives), it will be better. Until then guess we’re stuck with oh well.

People are actually complaining that those with art included in their entries won the contest? They should have. It was a ridiculous idea to begin with to include those without it, no matter how creative the information was about their product. If you can’t scribble something for whatever description you have fine whatever but what about knowing someone or asking someone? I didn’t enter because I couldn’t do the art. I think more time goes into actually creating the visual art to go with the Description and product and I don’t understand why they were okay with putting 300 entries on the site, most of which didn’t have anything but words. You’re supposed to advertise your brew, not just write a story for it. Sure some of the Descriptions were thought out, but advertising is all about the whole package. That includes art, or at least an attempt. And while a few of the entries without art were very amusing, the Descriptions of the taste and look of their brews certainly weren’t. For a contest like this I don’t think entries without art should be allowed.

So what if not everyone can draw? Not everyone is good at the same thing. That is how life works. There shouldn't have been an art option at all frankly. It did nothing but put people who can't draw at a steep disadvantage. What was the point of the logo, not like the site is honestly going to use that art for anything but inspiration.

I’d be sad if contests went away. I just think this was probably the weakest contest we’ve had so far. A lot of direct rip-offs of actual products, throwaway entries whining about wanting participation prizes, the debate between entries with art and those without art…ugh.

I got confused by the “etc.“ in the instructions about the alcoholic beverages staff were looking for; I thought that meant any alcoholic beverage would be okay. I submitted my entry as a sake, only to be told that the entries had to be a beer, cider, lager or ale. If that had been heavily emphasized and direct, I’d have changed my entry to reflect what staff wanted.

Chrissy and artist etiquette questions....

So, a few months ago I did a commission for Chrissy. She paid me and everything but never submitted it!!! Now I see that she is frozen and I’m wondering if she self-iced or if she got frozen for something else.

I am also wondering if it would be tacky/against any rules to release the item I drew myself? She did pay me after all, so the art is kinda hers now I guess…??? I wanted to try and ask her permission, as it wouldn’t be about the profits I would make, I just REALLY want the item on site haha!

More info/polite opinions, anyone?

Not trying to throw Chrissy under the bus since NO ONE including myself even knows what happened to her but I am a little miffed that there have also been a number of users including myself who have sent her money for recolors of items and have received no response for months nor have we received the recolors we paid for and now bam she is frozen and we are screwed. I’d just like an explanation and my money refunded then I’d be good to go. Since she paid you for the art you can’t release it yourself as it’s considered hers and since she is frozen this would not be allowed so pretty much you are stuck with art that you can’t use.

Uhhh yeah that’s generally how it works..You pay a person for your recolor and then they do it. Depends on the artist though too…Some won’t take payment till after they give you the files but chrissy was wanting payment beforehand and since she was a well known cw artist on subeta a lot of people trusted her and unfortunately in this case we wound up getting a bad deal even though prior to this no one had ever experienced anything that would give us a reason not to trust her.

So, who the fuck ever said that the pet in question.. was a Devonti? They ain’t no Devonti irl that I’ve ever fucking seen. That pet, looks like a sheep. Idgaf what the devonti looks like– maybe the pet owners fucking hates them? I hate a fair amount of pet species on subeta, so I don’t feel like I’ma be forced to have one just to make everyone else get the sand from their vaginas, you smelling what I’m selling here?

If you had someone draw an overlay of a neela– which is a *SUBETA* *SPECIES* not something that exists out in the real world, and then used it for your pet that was a common kumos, you would get yo ass a warning because you misrepresented what your pet was.

If you had someone draw you an overlay of a pomeranian, which is ***NOT*** a subeta species, it’s a canine who exists out there in the real world, and put that overlay on a common kumos… you’d be fine.

You could also put that overlay on a feli, or a telenine or popoko or devonti because y'know? Subeta doesn’t have a pomeranian pet so who the fuck are YOU to tell me what I should be seeing? Maybe something about the feli reminds me of the persona of those awesome yapper dogs?

However, if I had a custom overlay made of a fluffier ruffie that, outside of more fur and a curly tail, looked 95% like a ruffie? I’d expect a warning if I put that overlay on a feli because bro that’s a ruffie.

Idk why this is so hard for some people to grasp. I haven’t even had coffee yet.

Well then, you should be happy that I now get it. I submitted a ticket asking if it’s okay. It is 100% fine to use any artwork, as long as it’s not current unaltered official art, as a pet overlay. It’s totally fine to have art interpretation of any official pet drawn up and use that on any pet you want. Just make sure you keep the default info saying what the pet really is on the profile. So go ahead, have a Common Kumos and get an overlay interpretation of a Torrent to put on it.

If you do get a warning, don’t blame me. lmao I asked a staff member and this was my answer.

I have plans now. Plans I tell ya. *rubs hands in glee* Now to get some artwork interpretations of pets I’d like to keep as the same species but I don’t like the official art at all. :) Goodbye official artwork of the Manchu on my one pet. I’ll get some better artwork that looks like one but change you into a species I like better.

It’s only your choice if you want to match/try to match the overlay to a species/color. Just have the true color and species showing.

I was totally wrong over that. I always thought it pretty much was you had to match as close as possible. Because to me, doing as I was asking, getting an overlay drawn of an Illumis looking creature (to the point you see the art and say, “That’s an Illumis.”) but actually having my pet be a totally different subeta species, seems to be kind of a loop hole. At that point it really feels like, why bother changing your pet? Why bother getting the special colors? But, hey. It’s totally okay apparently. So I’ll just have to get over it. I probably won’t change any of my pets anytime soon though.

*Added something since I posted* As I can’t quote everyone here: Ah, so then it’ll be a-okay for me to get a custom overlay of my pet and make it be/look like a Neela even though it’s actually not as long as I don’t put anywhere on the profile that it’s a Neela or other species?

Because if that’s the case I’ll be changing a certain pet of mine. I’d love to have a Neela but without the expense. All I have or have my friend do is draw up a custom overlay for me.

I’m just trying to figure how this is/isn’t against the rules. Still not knocking the pet this is about as I still haven’t checked who it is. Haven’t been on subeta yet. I’m going off what’s written on here.

EDIT TO ADD: Umm, I was reading over the overlay rules, “ If your character is original, please let us know what species of Subeta pet it is, or which pet you will be using it for, so we can avoid misrepresentation. “ Doesn’t that kind of say don’t misrepresent the pet? Like having an overlay look like another pet species?

I would open a discussion of this onsite but I’m pretty sure I’d get jumped on for “picking on the spotlight winner”. Even though I just would like this clarified.

I really doubt it is complaining from the same groups. The people complaining about a lack of diversity are not the same complaining when diverse character info is added. Subeta needs to pick which group they want to appeal to and then ignore the complaints from the other.

I’m not liking where these plots are going. Most are just about squeezing in who’s gender is who’s now somehow in there, like its forced. I don’t think genders should mostly define the characters. They should have other qualities too.

Am I the only one who was kind of fed up with how Jaxon and Ian were in the last plot? Like, Hey were gay! Don’t you remember that were Gay! I can’t help you on the fact that I’m secretly having sex with my gay partner! Do characters together really need to always be together? Is Jaxon and Ian ever going to stop humping in Ian’s lab and actually do other things like science or anything else? Or is that their only abilities now? Because it sure feels like it is!

I’m kind of praying they will take a break and not have a Halloween plot this year. I was here for the plot where they came out and while I’m happy for them, I don’t need to be forced fed gender identities or reminded somewhere in the next or any other plot.
