Body shaking, Heart racing and knees were aching, things that Armand hadn't felt in a long time. Yes, it was safe to say that Daniel meant a lot to him, more than any other human he had ever met. That's why he kept him alive for so long. Because being in a word without Daniel wasn't worth a world at all. But there was one small problem, a problem, Armand didn't foresee coming. Daniel had gotten himself married and it had broken Armand's heart.

" You really don't know, do you ? " Armand asked. His eyes looked so hurt and so broken. "I found out...I mean I have known for a while. I sat on it thinking, no, my beautiful boy would never do such a thing to me." Using his speed, he pinned Daniel to a nearby wall and looked deep within his eyes. Then he took hold of his neck, gripping onto it tightly. But not tight enough to hurt him.

Armand then let go of Daniel's neck and backed away from him. "I know about her....You truly didn't think I would find out, did you? About your wife."

Armand was at a lose for words as he looked at Daniel. No not the tears. He couldn't see his beautiful boy crying, for it would break him down as well. But he stood there not saying a word. There were so many things he wanted to say but nothing came out.

Then he watched as Daniel made his way to the door. "No!" Armand finally snapped out of it and ran over to Daniel, keeping the door closed with his body. Taking hold of Daniel's cheeks, Armand looked deep within his eyes. There was a part of him that wanted to whip his mind again. Because then maybe things would go back to what they once where.

" Don't.... " Armand whispered softly. "Don't go." Once more Armand pinned Daniel to the wall. But this time it was a loving touch. Slowly he moved his hands to Daniel's hips and leaned in to press his lips softly onto his. "Don't leave me my beautiful boy."

Daniel had been hurting excessively for years now, but to a vampire it was only a blink. He’d only married her to get Armand’s attention and now it seemed it had finally done the trick. Six months into the marriage and they already hated each other anyway.

He was fully ready to leave, but so easily Armand had snapped out of it, or at least listened to his own agony. Daniel was getting older. Did he still see that young beautiful boy? Apparently so, as he cradled his cheek and begged with kisses for him not to leave. He couldn’t help his tears. He’d been heartbroken.

“ I never even loved her. I loved, I *love* you. “ He corrected. Even after all this time, somehow he could forgive Armand if needed, just to be happy and back in his life again.

Him, weak ? How dare he use such words! The flames didn't bother him, for he had seen them many times before. In fact, if Lestat wanted to, he too could form flames. But he rarely used such a gift. Maybe it was because fire was a true fear of his or something, but he never cared for such a gift. He couldn't help but to laugh as he looked at Armand, for he felt he was overacting so hard right now.

Lestat's fangs peeked out as he stood up and looked at Armand for a moment. "Hate me? Oh, please what the hell did I even do to you?" He asked while he moved in front of him. "Because I have more reasons to hate you than for you to hate me, no?" The thought of bring Claudia up killed Lestat but he needed to get his point a crossed.

" You act like you want to play rough but deep down inside you are a weak little thing. Now go on and go back under your bridge you little gremlin. You come back out when you are ready to play with the big boys. "

Lestat watched Armand for a moment. He felt a aching sensation in his chest. One he hadn't felt in a long time. He did truly care about Armand because to him he was the most beautiful person he had ever laid eyes on. But he found it so hard every now and then to admit his feelings for him. Maybe that's why he acted out so much. Either way he knew it was wrong.

" No. " Lestat simply said. "I will not move out of your way." He stood there for a moment with his mouth open a bit. Then he spoke again. "Come with me." A sigh then left his lips. "I have to show you something important." Slowly he placed a hand on Armand's cheek and rubbed it softly with his thumb.

When he removed his hand he placed it into his pants pocket and started to walk away. "Are you coming?"

Meanwhile Armand was nothing but feelings, and he’d kept them so close to his chest for so long he’d simply just exploded. Did Claudia haunt him? Only because it hurt Lestat, who after her death fully felt an undying love for her, even if he’d been present at her trial. He often wondered, did she visit him often?

Because she visited Armand more times than he’d care to mention, and of course he wouldn’t bring such a sensitive subject up around him. Though some days he wanted to tell him how her ghost had said it was a shame they’d been at odds with each other. They could have really been family. In this way, in not ripping his own coven apart and instead cowering, Armand saw himself as weak.

He wanted to move past him but now he’d put that pouty face on and he was forever a victim to it. He’d accept a thousand apologies from him, but it wasn’t weakness. It was loneliness, and how much he longed to be with him.

He averted his eyes with a sigh as he rubbed at his cheek, but now he insisted he follow, and of course like the lost kitten he could sometimes be, he would follow.

“ Yes, I’m coming. “ And he did, easily catching up with him. He guessed they were leaving this human hang out.

If Lestat had looked close enough, he might have caught the blood he’d wiped away from his eyes. Yes, this vampire had plenty of reasons to hate Armand, but Armand had his own volley of reasons too. And now Lestat dare to block his way? He growled.

“ You call me weak! Not once, not twice, but thrice now and you expect me to enjoy it? Why must everything be a game to you?! “ He shouted in frustration.

And then his arms threw up in the air helplessly. “ You don’t get it, do you? I simply wanted to have a romantic night out and you won’t even acknowledge that. Won’t call me yours. Is it your fans, Lestat? Are you playing it up for them.. Lestat the untouchable vampire rock god. “ He mocked.

Then, he gave him a hard shove. A humanly one as not to alert all the patrons. If anything, this big blow out would be on TikTok by the end of the night. Now he would see the red in his eyes. “ You.. Marius.. Louis. All the same. None of you will give me the one thing I long for. “

Another shove, he just wanted to leave. All he’d wanted was an acknowledgement of love, and he’d gotten insults instead. Armand, the ever broken hearted being. “ Just get out of my way, Lestat. “

Oh this was the joke beyond joke. For a brief moment Daniel felt fear as he was practically thrown against that wall. Armand was still a vampire, and he could do exactly what he claimed. And yet, he knew he wouldn’t. But that didn’t stop him from his next challenging statement.

“ Then good. Kill me. It’s better than this. “

When he went to backing away, Daniel started a soft laugh, which burst into something more, and then a guffaw. His hands went into his graying curls and pulled it, needing a feel of possible comfort amidst this insanity. It was his turn to lose it.

“ I can’t fucking believe you. Are you that ignorant of humanity? Truly? “ Suddenly he screamed. “ YOU ABANDONED ME! Vampire time may be fast to you but for us humans? It’s a fucking lifetime. Six years. SIX YEARS and not a god damn word from you!! “ Ah fuck, his eyes were starting to water. He didn’t want to cry, but Armand had hurt him.

“ You think I wanted to marry her? “ He was wildly gesturing now. “ I only did it to try to grab YOUR attention! Because, you know.. “ He laughed sadly, now pinching his nose. “ Heaven fucking forbid you tear yourself away from your precious Louis to give a fuck about me. “

Armand, with his carefully curated aesthetic, his dark curls and amber eyes, his lithe and slender form, did not appear to almost anyone a bodyguard but that was entirely what he was. Lestat had human security, mostly for the band that he had promised to protect, but it would take more than some roided out guy built like a house to protect Lestat from what might come for him. Armand was hundreds of years old, and was better suited to the task than most anyone else, but instead, he was simply a member of the crew, of Lestat's entourage.

He watched stage side and kept an eye out for vampires, especially those that gathered in groups, as well as anyone else who might pose a threat and Lestat did his thing in front of the crowds of people. He had always been magnificent at being whatever he was. A performer, an artist, an actor. This was no different. From city to city, they travelled, and Armand was almost always with him at his own insistence. The main bus had a room at the very end, which Lestat had taken for himself as the main attraction.

His coffin lay beside the large bed, mostly for night time use, and he and Armand were next to one another on the bed. Something had been playing on the television, but Lestat, who had found little rest the last few nights, had become drowsy and ultimately found himself dozing off, lulled by the sound of the bus and the road beneath, his head nodding onto Armand's shoulder. It wasn't sleep, not really. His eyes were closed, his breathing was deep and slow, but he wasn't unconscious. He heard Armand's voice through this false sleep and stirred, groaning softly.

That song. God, he never wanted to hear that song again. He lifted his head and straightened up, blinking, brow furrowed, expression pained. "Please. Not that." He assumed Armand's intention was not malicious but God, why would he ever want to sing that? He wasn't put off by the closeness he and Armand shared as he might have been once but still he moved away. "I didn't mean to fall asleep," he said, moving to the edge of the bed and pushing off to stand. "What time is it? How far are we?" He rubbed his hands over his face, and turned back to look at Armand. "We must almost be there, no?"

Armand’s intention was not malicious. He watched as he moved away, softly groaning and already missing that closeness. Well, he’d made a mistake. “ Forgive me. I hear you humming it, softly singing it idly at times. I think I hate to admit it, but your music has grown on me. “ He offered the lightest of smiles.

“ You needed the rest. “ Bodyguard or no, he knew being a rockstar could be exhausting, even for a vampire. He didn’t move from his place on the bed, still elegantly perched with his legs crossed.

“ Unfortunately, we have roughly two hours until we meet our destination. Then the concert is tomorrow night, and I’m sure the band will want to rehearse, and you’ll want to make sure the lighting is perfect. “ A gentle tease.

He looked away in thought for a moment, his eyes darkening slightly. “ And thus far I do not sense any of our kind. If they were near I would have felt them by now. I hope that continues up to the night of the concert. “ Because Armand had proven over and over, he had no qualms about killing their kind when it was necessary.

But, he didn’t wish to linger on dark thoughts, lifting his head with a playful smile. Gremlin, indeed. “ Would you like me to sing something else, perhaps? “

Pushing him away ? Yes Armand was doing this, for he felt it was the right thing to do. Because he knew how truly awful he was. Daniel meant more to him than anyone else could ever mean to him. But he knew this was a dark and dangerous path for both of them.

" I don't have time for games Mr. Molloy. You need to leave and you need to do so now. " Armand said as he opened the front door and held it open for a moment. Then he moved behind Daniel and started to push him out. "I mean it get out." But of course he didn't mean it and it broke his heart deeply to say such words.

Daniel was middle-aged now. Armand came and went out of his life and yet the human still craved him. Even now in the early nineties, even after he’d completely abandoned him for years, even after Daniel had tried to forget him, and married a woman. After everything, just a glance of Armand brought feelings in him he couldn’t put into words. He really was a lost pup.

His curls were graying a bit now. Was that it? Oh his sadness overwhelmed him then, even as he was physically being pushed out and coldly being addressed as Mr. Molloy.

He stood firm now but turned to look at him with those blue, soul searching eyes. “ Is it because I’m not your beautiful, fascinating boy anymore? “ It was as if you could hear his heart cracking in the silence between them.

“ I don’t — understand.. “ Especially since Daniel had been the one to surprise Armand, having found out Armand had been following. “ I don’t get it, man! You’re the one watching me! How is this my fault! “ Oh he was getting worked up. He was only human, and his heart pounded. He did everything he could not to weep, even though he was so close to it.

“ I wish you’d just killed me in 1973. Death would be better than this torture. “.

Lestat falls asleep on Armand’s shoulder during a long ride.

Traveling in a tour bus was far more exhausting as a vampire than using gifts to travel faster in shadow. But traveling throughout the New World was something that was growing on him. Armand had vowed to protect Lestat, and even with Lestat’s desperate love for Louis, the two of them had grown closer.

He’d been given some silly title, which he was fine with. But what Armand had observed was the way Lestat’s fans even eyed Armand. He was the stranger that had been constantly with him. He’d even seen magazine and rumors on social media that he was his partner. It was amusing in its own way, but also painful. He wasn’t his partner. He gave his life to help the blonde, and yet rumors were rumors.

But it didn’t mean Armand lost hope, even if it was a fool’s hope, and as they had both relaxed on that bed in the bus, he couldn’t help but crack a smile and glance down to him.

As if it was the most natural thing in the world, he laced an arm around the sleeping vampire. You know what also Armand sort of hated? He’d began to love Lestat’s songs, his singing, his performances. So now, he ran his fingers softly through those blonde tresses, stealing a soft kiss to the top of his head. — and without even knowing, his angelic voice that could make men weep began to softly sing.

“ Come to me.. “ Armand continued his soft petting. Lestat may call him a gremlin, but he had the sweet voice of a cherub. He sang Lestat’s own song to him, his sweet and secret loving lullaby. “ And let my ever-loving arms surround you..”

A wide smirk formed on Lestat's lips. It was so wide that his fangs had showed through. There was a lot of feelings Lestat felt for Armand. Anger, hate and love. For every time he saw Armand's face he remembered what he had done to Claudia. But he couldn't come to fully hate him for they did have a tie together.

Taking hold of Armand's neck, Lestat leaned closer to his face and looked deep within his eyes. "You want everyone to see how me do what exactly?" Soon his free hand moved to Armand's knee and rested there for a moment. "You want them to see how you beg and cry for my forgiveness as I fuck you?" He asked while his hand slowly moved from Armand's knee.

Not only did he suggest Armand begged for forgiveness, he was even suggesting he was weak and this would not do. Public or not, he would never be called weak again, especially after everything that happened with Louis.

There was a flare, a fire in his eye, as well as sparked in his fingers. He let Lestat continue to have his fun groping him because why not? He was getting enjoyment from it.

But now he moved a hand to Lestat’s throat, choking him with some threatening force. Armand had been flirtatious in his request. Lestat met it with insult. The entire room froze in place as his fingers laced with flames lingered in the air, his fangs revealed plainly and in a rage. Sometimes, Lestat got overjoyed to see him angry, but that was enough.

“ You know nothing of true weakness, Lestat. “ Said in monotone of course. “ I suppose I could show it to you by burning off your hair first. And when you cry and beg me to stop, I just might after I’ve smelt your flesh bubbling in my nostrils for a bit. “

— but then just like that it was over. He let the people move again. The fire was gone. All he’d wanted was affection and Lestat brought mockery. He stood up, staring down at him coldly. “ There are times that I remember why I hated you for so long. “ Because heaven forbid Lestat show him a bit of affection, right?

He threw a nearby napkin down and headed to the exit. So much for their date. He was so frustrated, so fuming, and even having his mind clouded by painful memories now, that blood pooled at the corner of his eyes, which he quickly rubbed away.

The human felt nothing as Armand decided to be kind. There had been enough pain this night. He cared not to inflict anymore. Whilst Lestat fed, he felt his own slightly dampened curls. Oh how he hated getting his clothes wet. But at least this time it was to save a life — or rather save what sort of life their kind had.

Lestat already seemed to have some color back after his meal and mix of his own blood, so that seemed promising at least. With rest, Lestat would make a full recovery. If he had been a second too late, he might have been too far gone, and this had him worry.

But amidst his worrying, his pondering, Lestat found the nerve to ask about Louis, and yes, it hurt. At some point he actually had loved Louis in his own way.. or what he thought was love, anyhow. Armand hadn’t the best of tutors when it came to love. It was no wonder why he could never obtain it. — And it didn’t sting because of his love for Louis. It stung because of Lestat’s love for him. For the briefest of moments, the pain revealed itself in the slightest of trembles in his amber gaze, but he closed his eyes immoderately, less Lestat see more of his pain.

“ I can hear him, yes. “ Should he tell him the truth? “ When he lets me. He tries his best to block me out, but he hasn’t mastered it yet. As of right now, he’s safe. He’s with his.. “ Armand sighed softly. This next answer he knew would pain the blonde. “ What I can only guess is a possible paramour, perhaps for the night. A human, of course. “ Louis, the law breaker he’d forever be. “ But he’s safe, and I do not sense our kind about him. It’s as if your charade has completely distracted them from Louis. For now, at least. “

Armand opened his eyes, watching the figure on the spare bed. This was a presidential suite after all. He moved then to sit next to him on the bed, just so he wasn’t hovering over him like an elder. He wanted to say the next thing, on equal ground. “ I think from now on, I should travel with your troupe. You didn’t call out for me until it was too late. “ He kicked his feet idly, staring down at them. “ I promised to protect you, and tonight I failed. I will not fail again. “

As Armand spoke, Lestat's heart rose slightly in hopeful anticipation and then dropped suddenly at the reveal. Yes, Louis was alright. In fact he was so alright, he was entertaining company. Would he have come if Lestat had called? If he texted him now and told him what had happened, would he have dropped everything to come and be at his side? Probably. Maybe. Not knowing was the worst part. He couldn't even say for certain with confidence and that spoke to their current relationship. He was fine now, with Armand. What could Louis do to help him, except offer him comfort?

He had always found Louis a comfort, even when they were at odds. But he knew Armand was offering the same. He was actually there, and he'd saved him, fed him, taken care of him. He did feel bad to keep asking after Louis. He knew it was not an easy topic for Armand to discuss. Even if their relationship had been blissfully happy for seventy years, it hadn't ended that way. Loss was loss and Armand had experienced more than most. Armand was sitting next to him and Lestat looked across at the body on the floor. He gazed at it and then, eyebrow raised, he turned to look at Armand.

He'd like to not have to go through this again but that was exactly why Armand was suggesting it. "There are almost a dozen more shows. Are you sure you want to come for all of them? You can stay wherever you'd like while we travel. I have made my room on the tour bus vampire friendly and I have my coffin. There is probably room for another but uh, you like a bed, no? I never got used to them. It's been over two hundred years and I still like to sleep in a box."

He chuckled, mostly at himself before he shrugged. "I don't think we should tell everyone that you're a vampire, too. We can assign you a job of some kind. No one will ask questions." And then, Lestat frowned. "And you didn't fail. I over estimated my abilities. Got too cocky. I know better for next time." Then he laid back, pulled his legs onto the bed, and stared up at the ceiling. He felt so tired. So drained. The blood was helping but it didn't take away the exhaustion of the fight itself, the aftermath of being beaten and left to die. All he wanted to do was sleep.

"Can I stay? Until tomorrow night? I'll text Felix, if I can borrow your phone. As long as I am back for the show, no one will mind. And if they do, I'll tell them to fuck off. I'm the rockstar, after all. There is no show without me." He looked over at Armand, mostly getting a view of his back and shoulders. Part of him longed for Armand to sleep next to him, in the bed, close by. They didn't have to do anything. His presence would be enough. But he couldn't tell Armand that because he would have read into it and that wouldn't be fair to any of them. There were two beds...maybe he would take the other.

Lestat couldn’t be more wrong about he and Louis. So often Louis went out of his way to be deliberately cruel. In all honesty, even when they had first dated, Louis slipped into his pimp role, and Armand had fell into the slave mode. Nothing about them had been a complete and happy little marriage. Yet, this was no place that discuss this, and he doubted Lestat would believe he anyhow. He did know Louis had attempted suicide, but right now, his fellow kin was living his best life with an apparent human partner. Those never ended well.

Why did he still have hope that Lestat would see him, the one who actually cared? Just the thought made sadness in him well, but he refused to let it show.. except perhaps in those soulful eyes of his.

“ Yes, you may stay, and as long as you’d like. You may borrow my phone, call who you need. But first. “ Armand did not hesitate in his next action. Lestat had been dried off, he’d fed, and now he was back in that wet bed. He had placed him there when he was soaking wet. But now, Armand moved to his side of the bed, and saying nothing at all, he slipped his arms beneath Lestat’s robed body, lifting him easily into his arms. He would not make him sleep in a wet bed, and he would not let him sleep alone.

He moved like he was floating across the floor, clutching the vampire to his chest. He longed to stare into those eyes of his, but he wished Lestat not to feel awkward. It was probably awkward enough. But he carried him like he was the most precious of cargo, the most adored of lovers, until they were on his side of the large suite.

It was only then his eyes locked with his as he lay him down on the large, black sheeted bed. With him, it was chic or nothing. He pulled back the blankets, only to pull them up over Lestat’s robed body gently. The gaze only broke, as he walked around the bed. “ That other was soaked through. I would not dare leave you there for the night in discomfort. “

Armand slipped off his slippers and slipped into the bed in his robe. He took his phone from the bedside table and passed it to him. “ Call who you need. “ He wanted to sleep in the same bed as badly had Lestat had, but of course he surely just didn’t want to feel alone and vulnerable. Figuring that this was what the younger wanted, he still made the statement. “ I hope sharing a bed wth me brings you comfort. “
