I’ve decided after almost a decade of running Studio347.com that I’m going to let the web domain lapse. I’ll still be the owner of Studio 347 and I’ll still be doing commissions under that name, but the address is simply an unnecessary expense. It’s money better put elsewhere, and when I don’t have much of that as is, I’ve got to put it where it’ll do the most good.

I’ll continue running things using Tumblr as I have the past few years, so if you’re following me, make sure to change the bookmark for Studio 347 from studio347.com to studio347.tumblr.com.

Pacific Arts Holiday Market 2014

It's that time of year again, the Pacific Arts Holiday Market is in full swing. This year it's located at Sunset Square on the Kmart side. My wife Michele has a variety of things for sale with our friend Sheri. I'm sharing a stall with Fenmere the Worm. The market runs Friday, Saturday, and Sunday from 10:00am to 6:00pm this weekend and next.

I've a selection of prints, cards, and original art available.

Because it's 347 all day, tomorrow, the 13th of December, I'll have a selection of pieces available at a discounted rate. 8"x10" Prints 3 for $7. 8"x10" Original pieces 3 for $70. Of course, that's will supplies last.

I did this. Mostly just a fun exercise, but inspired by something wretched. I offer the following quotes from me on an earlier conversation I had... "What are your thoughts on Zentangle?" "The easiest way to describe it, is meditation through restrictive art." "I think it seems like a good idea, however, I feel that the 'rules' are too strict to really find it pleasurable." "Rules examples: drawn in a 3x3 square on white paper w/ black ink, materials to be of the highest quality, only a licensed Zentangle master may teach Zentangle." "Oh, and drawn intentionally and without distractions. If you break these rules your art is merely a doodle or zentangle inspired creation." "I get being proud of it as a piece of abstract art, but Zentangle strikes me as an attempt to make doodles highbrow and diminishes doodles as art." What I did is not a Zentangle. I did a piece of abstract art (a doodle if you will), on glow in the dark duct tape, affixed to an iPad Smart Cover, drawn in 4 different types of Sharpies. It is not 3x3. It was not expensive or high quality. I didn't need special training to do it. It isn't highbrow. In the end it's as much abstract as it is concrete. And it's all about me.
