I included a few articles on my Wordpress blog involving Nordic languages and Dutch.
"depiction is not automatically glorification" can and should coexist with "some depiction is glorification and you need to be able to tell the difference"
Please add to that list "apparent glorification in the first 15% of the thing does not constitute real glorification if the remaining 85% is dedicated to suffering the consequences, deconstructing the damage and changing ways" because some people around here don't understand how the three act structure works.
Y'know yeah i will absolutely add this especially since people keep saying fight club is an example of glorification. Genuinely thanks for having one of the few good additions to this post

7. Shiritori Online
Shiritori (しりとり) is a popular japanese word game and is ideal to exercise vocabulary for japanese learners. 2 or more players take turns saying a word that starts with the last kana of the previous word. The game ends when someone answers with a word ending with -n (ん) because there are no words starting with ん.
it is up to the players whether all forms of a hiragana (kana and its diacritics; は,ば and ぱ etc.) are allowed or not (e.g やぎ -> きよう).
example: りんご (apple) -> ごりら (ゴリラ) (gorilla) -> らーめん (ラーメン) (ramen). The last person who said ramen loses because the word ends with -n (ん). Instead the person could have saidらま (ラマ) (llama) (e.g).
Hi guys! I think it's probably about time I post something original on here, so here's something my first Irish teacher taught me that has helped me significantly when writing Irish. It's sentence to help you remember what urús different letters get in Irish. It goes like this:
My brother got caught, not doing dishes tonight. Nobody gets blueberry pie before he finishes.
m is the urú for B eg. ár mBia (our food)
g is the urú for C eg. ár gCathaoir (our chair)
n is the urú for D eg. ár nDeirfiúr (our sister)
d is the urú for T eg. ár dTeach (our house)
n is the urú for G eg. ár nGeata (our gate)
b is the urú for P eg. ár bPeata (our pet)
bh is the urú for F eg. ár bhFuinneog (our window)
the remaining constants in Irish (h, l, m, n, r, s) do not take urús eg. ár Máthair (our mother)
Hope this is helpful!

The Sims in Japanese! (And other videogames and manga without furigana)
Want to play The Sims in Japanese but don't know enough kanji to play it? I recently discovered a way to do it! And it probably works in lots of other videogames AND manga that do not have furigana!
It's not perfect, I admit. But it really helps. And it's free, by the way.
The software I began using is called Capture2Text.
You can know more about it here: http://capture2text.sourceforge.net/
And you can download it here:
https://sourceforge.net/projects/capture2text/
You just have to press two keys of your keyboard and then select what you want to translate.
And here is how I use it:
I don't know if there's a way for the software to separate the words and to give me their pronunciation. But that's easy to solve. I basically just copy the word/text from the software and paste it into Jisho (https://jisho.org/).
I do not know much about its settings either, but here are the main ones that I somehow changed:
Why did I start using this?
Because I would need to know thousands of kanji to play it in Japanese, so I could easily look up the words in the dictionary using their pronunciation. But I just know 400 kanji right now. I could wait until I know most of them, but I'm into language immersion (seriously, guys. It works.) and I really love The Sims 2, 3 & 4. So why wait? I will keep learning kanji, of course (it's more important than I ever imagined when I began learning this language, because I thought learning vocab would be enough). But through this method, I can even improve my kanji knowledge. Reading immersion can improve our vocabulary, grammar AND kanji.
So... if you're like me, try it out!

Ppl saying it’s ‘censorship’ to deplatform Rogan are being willfully ignorant. He is one of the most popular podcasts on Spotify (~11mil listeners per show) and he’s used that platform to promote taking ivermectin for COVID and spread anti-vaxx conspiracy theories.
Deplatforming someone for deliberately and irresponsibly spreading bullshit is not censorship. That is a consequence. Freedom of speech does not include the use of untruth to cause harm; that’s why slander and libel are fucking illegal.
Trying to get back into bullet journaling, we'll see how it goes. I just need to get my life organized again 😂
Irish vocabulary words with hedgehogs!!!
*Tá an Ghráinneog
Ná déanaigí dearmad ar an séimhiú!
The Addams Family renting out rooms in their huge mansion cheaply to broke college students.
The students digging it because the craziness and the bugs are pretty much the same as any other dorm house. Also, Morticia and Gomez treat them all like visiting cousins, not like tenants to abuse and exploit.
One of the tenants is a creative writing major and Gomez and Morticia house them up in the tower because of the quiet and the inspiring view
They’re supposed to be working on a typical coming-of-age story but after living with the Addams for just a week the project is becoming a horror-Gothic-romance
They go to their room after classes one day and find Thing correcting the grammar errors in the manuscript with a red pen
and yeah, the students pay roughly market value for their rooms, but that doesn’t stop gomez from shouting “capital idea!” and handing them wads of cash when they tell him about their weekend plans or what they’re researching, so they basically end up living there for free
In the same vein, half the them have to turn into exceptional fencers, because Gomez just doesn’t give a shit, and if he sees you in the library, its fucking Sword Fighting Time.
Fester and Pugsley find out one of the college students is trying to get into chemistry and woo boy, there has never been a faster study of how to counter various acidic chemical reactions due to “water” balloons in campus history.
Morticia and Grammy are keeping the horticulturalists on their toes with their Black Tulip/Rose hybrids, which can flick their barbs a foot away from their stem system. But it’s fine, one of the kids has managed to breed Aloe with the anti venom.
Lurch makes sandwiches for everyone who’s too much of a coward for Grammy’s cooking. Any music major will find him looming over them, utterly stone faced as they practise until they finish, when he’ll smile, and slowly applaud.
And the spookiest thing of all
Wednesday and Thing will find your thesis. They will critique it in every way imaginable.
There is no escape.
I especially love the idea of Gomez spotting a student in the library, throwing a sword at a startled student, shouting, “En garde!” and lunging at him/her with a sword of his own.
Student (later in life), when asked how she jumps from quietly doing research to handling a sudden influx of ER cases so quickly and easily, says, “When you have to snap out of deep concentration on biochem to fight for your life then get back to biochem without losing your train of thought…you learn or you die.”
This has made me laugh so hard-
And you know how chatty Gomez is when he fights, he’d probably help more students work through creative blocks via swordplay than any education counselor in a stuffy little office.
Gomez Addams as the embodiment of the Rubber Duck Method for struggling students via surprise swordplay is directly on brand.
And I firmly believe that long-term residents who finish their degrees suddenly, mysteriously, find that their student loans have been paid off. The family attends every single graduation ceremony and claps and cheers for “their” students as boisterously as any parent. They make a particular point of doing so for the ones who have no other family in attendance.
