Does anyone have any advice for applying to Oxford University or Cambridge as an undergraduate international student? To be quite honest, I’m terribly lost and have no idea what I’m doing. I can’t seem to find any information for application fees for Cambridge either–is there even an application fee?

Also, I’m looking to apply for the English Language and Literature course for Oxford and English course for Cambridge, and they mention an ELAT test. Does anyone know what that is and whether I have to take it as an international applicant?

Sorry if these questions are super simple/obvious, I just really need some guidance. Much appreciate if anyone can help me out.

Actually, in the ELAT test you have to compare 2 out of 6 parts of different texts (some could be poems, dramas, essays, etc). They all have a common topic, for example food. You have to analise them both in an essay, maybe outlining also the differences (it is pointless to write something about the author, since the aim of the exam is to check your skills in comprehension). Since the ELAT is made by Cambridge University, you can find the centres (even international ones) on their website (for example, I live in Italy and I could choose between two cities not far distant from my town). Although it is made by Cambridge University, your exam centre has to communicate whether you want to apply for Oxford or Cambridge (since they both use the same test). Send me a message if you have any doubts or I wasn't clear ✨ you can find some simulations on the Cambridge University website, too!

Ps, afterwards circa 45% of all applicants who have taken the exam will be invited to an interview at the University (about one of three interviewee will be lucky enough to be admitted finally✨). Usually the interview is in December, but you can find the exact dates on the website of the University of Oxford

Ooh and btw, usually you can't apply for both Oxford and Cambridge in the same year (or at least I've read so)
