prayer Worship Help the poor Helping orphans in Quran 🌹
Keep up the prayer, pay the prescribed alms, and bow your heads [in worship] with those who bow theirs. 2:43
Do you command mankind to benignancy and forget yourselves, and you recite the Book? Do you then not consider? 2:44
And seek help in patience and prayer; and surely it is indeed great (i.e., formidable, hard) except for the submissive. 2:45
Who expect that they are meeting their Lord and that to Him they are returning. 2:46
Remember when We took a pledge from the Children of Israel: ‘Worship none but God; be good to your parents and kinsfolk, to orphans and the poor; speak good words to all people; keep up the prayer and pay the prescribed alms.’ Then all but a few of you turned away and paid no heed.
And keep up the prayer and bring the Zakat, (i.e., pay the poor-dues) and whatever charity you forward for yourselves, you will find it in the Providence of Allah; surely Allah is Ever-Beholding of whatever you do. 2:110
And who is more unjust than he who prevents (praying in) the mosques of Allah so that His Name be not mentioned in them, and endeavors (diligently) for their ruin? Those can in no way enter them except in fear, for them is disgrace in the present life (Literally: The lowly, i.e., the life of this world) and in the Hereafter they will have a tremendous torment. 2:114
So, remember Me, (and) I will remember you; and give thanks to Me; and do not disbelieve Me. 2:152
O you who have believed, seek help in patience and prayer; surely Allah is with the patient.
It is not benignancy that you turn your faces around in the direction of East and West; but benignancy is (in him) who believes in Allah, and the Last Day, and the Angels, and the Book, and the Prophets, and brings wealth in spite of his love for it (Or: offers out of love for Him) to near kinsmen, and the orphans, and the indigent, and the wayfarer, and the beggars, and (to ransom) necks, (i.e. captives "slaves") and keeps up the prayer, and bring the Zakat, (i.e. pay the poor-dues) and they who fulfil their covenant when they have covenanted, and the patient (ones) in misery and tribulation, and while in violence; (i.e. during fighting) those are (they) who act sincerely, and those are they who are the pious. 2:177
Spend in God’s cause: do not contribute to your destruction with your own hands, but do good, for God loves those who do good. 2:195
on this world and the next. They ask you about [the property of] orphans: say, ‘It is good to set things right for them. If you combine their affairs with yours, remember they are your brothers and sisters: God knows those who spoil things and those who improve them. Had He so willed, He could have made you vulnerable too: He is almighty and wise.’ 2|220
Take care to do your prayers, praying in the best way, and stand before God in devotion. 2:238
If you are in danger, pray when you are out walking or riding; when you are safe again, remember God, for He has taught you what you did not know. 2:239
You who believe, give from what We have provided for you, before the Day comes when there is no bargaining, no friendship, and no intercession. It is the disbelievers who are wrong. 2:254
The likeness of (the ones) who expend their riches in the way of Allah is as the likeness of a grain that grows seven ears, in every ear a hundred grains. And Allah gives manifoldly to whomever He decides; and Allah is Ever-Embracing, Ever-Knowing. 2:261
Those who spend their wealth in God’s cause, and do not follow their spending with reminders of their benevolence or hurtful words, will have their rewards with their Lord: no fear for them, nor will they grieve. 2:262
A kind word and forgiveness is better than a charitable deed followed by hurtful [words]: God is self-sufficient, forbearing.
You who believe, do not cancel out your charitable deeds with reminders and hurtful words, like someone who spends his wealth only to be seen by people, not believing in God and the Last Day. Such a person is like a rock with earth on it: heavy rain falls and leaves it completely bare. Such people get no rewards for their works: God does not guide the disbelievers. 2:264
But those who spend their wealth in order to gain God’s approval, and as an affirmation of their own faith, are like a garden on a hill: heavy rain falls and it produces double its normal yield; even if no heavy rain falls, it will still be watered by the dew. God sees all that you do. 2:265
Would any of you like to have a garden of palm trees and vines, graced with flowing streams and all kinds of produce, which, when you are afflicted with old age and feeble offspring, is struck by a fiery whirlwind and burnt down? In this way God makes His messages clear to you, so that you may reflect on them.2:266
You who believe, give charitably from the good things you have acquired and that We have produced for you from the earth. Do not give away the bad things that you yourself would only accept with your eyes closed: remember that God is self-sufficient, worthy of all praise.2:267
Whatever you may give, or vow to give, God knows it well, and those who do wrong will have no one to help them.
If you give charity openly, it is good, but if you keep it secret and give to the needy in private, that is better for you, and it will atone for some of your bad deeds: God is well aware of all that you do.2:271
It is not for you [Prophet] to guide them; it is God who guides whoever He will. Whatever charity you give benefits your own soul, provided you do it for the sake of God: whatever you give will be repaid to you in full, and you will not be wronged. 2:272
[Give] to those needy who are wholly occupied in God’s way and cannot travel in the land [for trade]. The unknowing might think them rich because of their self-restraint, but you will recognize them by their characteristic of not begging persistently. God is well aware of any good you give.2:273
Those who give, out of their own possessions, by night and by day, in private and in public, will have their reward with their Lord: no fear for them, nor will they grieve. 2:274
But those who take usury will rise up on the Day of Resurrection like someone tormented by Satan’s touch. That is because they say, ‘Trade and usury are the same,’ but God has allowed trade and forbidden usury. Whoever, on receiving God’s warning, stops taking usury may keep his past gains- God will be his judge- but whoever goes back to usury will be an inhabitant of the Fire, there to remain.2:275
God blights usury, but blesses charitable deeds with multiple increase: He does not love the ungrateful sinner.
Those who believe, do good deeds, keep up the prayer, and pay the prescribed alms will have their reward with their Lord: no fear for them, nor will they grieve. 2:277
You who believe, beware of God: give up any outstanding dues from usury, if you are true believers. 2:278
If the debtor is in difficulty, then delay things until matters become easier for him; still, if you were to write it off as an act of charity, that would be better for you, if only you knew.
Beware of a Day when you will be returned to God: every soul will be paid in full for what it has earned, and no one will be wronged. 2:281 { Surah Al-Baqarah }
those who say, “Our Lord, we believe, so forgive us our sins and protect us from suffering in the Fire,” 3:16 { Surah Ali 'Imran}
those who are steadfast, truthful, truly devout, who give [in God’s cause] and pray before dawn for forgiveness.’3:17
None of you [believers] will attain true piety unless you give out of what you cherish: whatever you give, God knows about it very well.3:92
Be a community that calls for what is good, urges what is right, and forbids what is wrong: those who do this are the successful ones.3:104
who give, both in prosperity and adversity, who restrain their anger and pardon people- God loves those who do good-
those who remember God and implore forgiveness for their sins if they do something shameful or wrong themselves- who forgives sins but God?- and who never knowingly persist in doing wrong.3:135
Give orphans their wealth ˹when they reach maturity˺, and do not exchange your worthless possessions for their valuables, nor cheat them by mixing their wealth with your own. For this would indeed be a great sin.4:2 [ Surah An-Nisa ]
Do not entrust the incapable ˹among your dependants˺ with your wealth which Allah has made a means of support for you—but feed and clothe them from it, and speak to them kindly. 4:5
Test ˹the competence of˺ the orphans until they reach a marriageable age. Then if you feel they are capable of sound judgment, return their wealth to them. And do not consume it wastefully and hastily before they grow up ˹to demand it˺. If the guardian is well-off, they should not take compensation; but if the guardian is poor, let them take a reasonable provision. When you give orphans back their property, call in witnesses. And sufficient is Allah as a ˹vigilant˺ Reckoner.4:6
If other relatives, orphans, or needy people are present at the distribution, give them something too, and speak kindly to them.4:8
Let those who would fear for the future of their own helpless children, if they were to die, show the same concern [for orphans]; let them be mindful of God and speak out for justice.4:9
Those who consume the property of orphans unjustly are actually swallowing fire into their own bellies: they will burn in the blazing Flame.4:10
Worship God; join nothing with Him. Be good to your parents, to relatives, to orphans, to the needy, to neighbours near and far, to travellers in need, and to your slaves. God does not like arrogant, boastful people, 4:36
[Nor does He like those] who spend their wealth to show off, who do not believe in Him or the Last Day. Whoever has Satan as his companion has an evil companion! 4:38
What harm would it do them to believe in God and the Last Day, and give charitably from the sustenance God has given them? God knows them well.4:39
He does not wrong anyone by as much as the weight of a speck of dust: He doubles any good deed and gives a tremendous reward of His own.4:40
You who believe, do not come anywhere near the prayer if you are intoxicated, not until you know what you are saying; nor if you are in a state of major ritual impurity- though you may pass through the mosque- not until you have bathed; if you are ill, on a journey, have relieved yourselves, or had intercourse, and cannot find any water, then find some clean sand and wipe your faces and hands with it. God is always ready to pardon and forgive.4:43
Whoever speaks for a good cause will share in its benefits and whoever speaks for a bad cause will share in its burden: God controls everything.4:85
When you [believers] are travelling in the land, you will not be blamed for shortening your prayers, if you fear the disbelievers may harm you: they are your sworn enemies.
When you [Prophet] are with the believers, leading them in prayer, let a group of them stand up in prayer with you, taking their weapons with them, and when they have finished their prostration, let them take up their positions at the back. Then let the other group, who have not yet prayed, pray with you, also on their guard and armed with their weapons: the disbelievers would dearly like you to be heedless of your weapons and baggage, in order for them to take you in a single assault. You will not be blamed if you lay aside your arms when you are overtaken by heavy rain or illness, but be on your guard. Indeed, God has prepared a humiliating punishment for the disbelievers. 4:102
After performing the ritual prayer, continue to remember God- standing, sitting, and lying on your sides- and once you are safe, keep up regular prayer, for prayer is obligatory for the believers at prescribed times.4:103
In most of their secret talks there is no good: But if one exhorts to a deed of charity or justice or conciliation between men, (Secrecy is permissible): To him who does this, seeking the good pleasure of Allah, We shall soon give a reward of the highest (value).4:114
They ask you [Prophet] for a ruling about women. Say, ‘God Himself gives you a ruling about them. You already have what has been recited to you in the Scripture about orphan girls [in your charge] from whom you withhold the prescribed shares [of their inheritance] and whom you wish to marry, and also about helpless children- God instructs you to treat orphans fairly: He is well aware of whatever good you do.’4:127
But those of them who are well grounded in knowledge and have faith do believe in what has been revealed to you [Muhammad], and in what was revealed before you- those who perform the prayers, pay the prescribed alms, and believe in God and the Last Day- to them We shall give a great reward.4:162
The Messiah would never disdain to be a servant of God, nor would the angels who are close to Him. He will gather before Him all those who disdain His worship and are arrogant:
to those who believe and do good works He will give due rewards and more of His bounty; to those who are disdainful and arrogant He will give an agonizing torment, and they will find no one besides God to protect or help them.4:173
You who believe, uphold justice and bear witness to God, even if it is against yourselves, your parents, or your close relatives. Whether the person is rich or poor, God can best take care of both. Refrain from following your own desire, so that you can act justly- if you distort or neglect justice, God is fully aware of what you do. 4:135 [ Surah An-Nisa ]
You who believe, when you are about to pray, wash your faces and your hands up to the elbows, wipe your heads, wash your feet up to the ankles and, if required, wash your whole body. If any of you is sick or on a journey, or has just relieved himself, or had intimate contact with a woman, and can find no water, then take some clean sand and wipe your face and hands with it. God does not wish to place any burden on you: He only wishes to cleanse you and perfect His blessing on you, so that you may be thankful.5:6
Remember God’s blessing on you and the pledge with which you were bound when you said, ‘We hear and we obey.’ Be mindful of God: God has full knowledge of the secrets of the heart.5:7 [Surah Al-Ma'idah]
God took a pledge from the Children of Israel. We made twelve leaders arise among them, and God said, ‘I am with you: if you keep up the prayer, pay the prescribed alms, believe in My messengers and support them, and lend God a good loan, I will wipe out your sins and admit you into Gardens graced with flowing streams. Any of you who now ignore this [pledge] will be far from the right path.’ 5:12
But they broke their pledge, so We distanced them [from Us] and hardened their hearts. They distort the meaning of [revealed] words and have forgotten some of what they were told to remember: you [Prophet] will always find treachery in all but a few of them. Overlook this and pardon them: God loves those who do good.5:13
Satan's plan is (but) to excite enmity and hatred between you, with intoxicants and gambling, and hinder you from the remembrance of Allah, and from prayer: will ye not then abstain? 5:91
Say [Prophet], ‘Bad cannot be likened to good, though you may be dazzled by how abundant the bad is. Be mindful of God, people of understanding, so that you may prosper.’
Use the Quran to warn those who fear being gathered before their Lord- they will have no one but Him to protect them and no one to intercede- so that they may beware.6:51
Do not drive away those who call upon their Lord morning and evening, seeking nothing but His Face. You are in no way accountable for them, nor they for you; if you drove the believers away, you would become one of the evildoers.
When those come to thee who believe in Our signs, Say: "Peace be on you: Your Lord hath inscribed for Himself (the rule of) mercy: verily, if any of you did evil in ignorance, and thereafter repented, and amend (his conduct), lo! He is Oft-forgiving, Most Merciful.6:54
to establish regular prayers and be mindful of Him.’ It is to Him that you will all be gathered.6:72
Avoid committing sin, whether openly or in secret, for those who commit sin will be repaid for what they do, 6:120
Say, ‘Come! I will tell you what your Lord has really forbidden you. Do not ascribe anything as a partner to Him; be good to your parents; do not kill your children in fear of poverty’- We will provide for you and for them- ‘ stay well away from committing obscenities, whether openly or in secret; do not take the life God has made sacred, except by right. This is what He commands you to do: perhaps you will use your reason. 6:151
Stay well away from the property of orphans, except with the best [intentions], until they come of age; give full measure and weight, according to justice’- We do not burden any soul with more than it can bear- ‘ when you speak, be just, even if it concerns a relative; keep any promises you make in God’s name. This is what He commands you to do, so that you may take heed’-6:152
this is My path, leading straight, so follow it, and do not follow other ways: they will lead you away from it- ‘ This is what He commands you to do, so that you may refrain from wrongdoing.’6:153
Say, ‘My Lord commands righteousness. Direct your worship straight to Him wherever you pray; call on Him; devote your religion entirely to Him. Just as He first created you, so you will come back [to life] again.’ 7:29 [ Surah Al-A'raf ]
Call on your Lord humbly and privately- He does not like those who transgress His bounds:7:55
do not corrupt the earth after it has been set right- call on Him fearing and hoping. The mercy of God is close to those who do good.7:56
Among those We created are a group of people who guide with truth and act justly according to it.7:181
so pay attention and listen quietly when the Quran is recited, so that you may be given mercy.’7:204
[Prophet], remember your Lord inwardly, in all humility and awe, without raising your voice, in the mornings and in the evenings- do not be one of the heedless-7:205
[even] those who live in the presence of your Lord are not too proud to worship Him: they glorify Him and bow down before Him.7:206
Be aware that your possessions and your children are only a test, and that there is a tremendous reward with God.
Believers, if you remain mindful of God, He will give you a criterion [to tell right from wrong] and wipe out your bad deeds, and forgive you: God’s favour is great indeed.8:29
Their prayers before the House are nothing but whistling and clapping. ‘So taste the punishment for your disbelief.’8:35
but if they pay no heed, be sure that God is your protector, the best protector and the best helper. 8:40
Know that one-fifth of your battle gains belongs to God and the Messenger, to close relatives and orphans, to the needy and travellers, if you believe in God and the revelation We sent down to Our servant on the day of the decision, the day when the two forces met in battle. God has power over all things. 8:41
Say, “Nothing will befall us except what Allah has prescribed for us; He is our Patron. And in Allah let the believers place their trust.” 9:51
Say, “Whether you spend willingly or reluctantly, it will not be accepted from you; indeed, you have been a defiantly disobedient people.”9:53
Yet nothing has prevented them from their contributions being accepted except that they have denied Allah and His Messenger, and that they do not approach the prayer except lazily, and that they do not spend except grudgingly.9:54
Alms are meant only for the poor, the needy, those who administer them, those whose hearts need winning over, to free slaves and help those in debt, for God’s cause, and for travellers in need. This is ordained by God; God is all knowing and wise.9:60
The Believers, men and women, are protectors one of another: they enjoin what is just, and forbid what is evil: they observe regular prayers, practise regular charity, and obey Allah and His Messenger. On them will Allah pour His mercy: for Allah is Exalted in power, Wise.9:71
But the Messenger and those who have attained faith with him have striven with their wealths and themselves. And for those there is all what is good, and those are the successful ones. 9:88
but there is no blame attached to the weak, the sick, and those who have no means to spend, provided they are true to God and His Messenger- there is no reason to reproach those who do good: God is most forgiving and merciful.
And there is no blame attached to those who came to you [Prophet] for riding animals and to whom you said, ‘I cannot find a mount for you’: they turned away with their eyes overflowing with tears of grief that they had nothing they could contribute.9:92
Of their goods, take alms, that so thou mightest purify and sanctify them; and pray on their behalf. Verily thy prayers are a source of security for them: And Allah is One Who heareth and knoweth 9:103
Know they not that Allah doth accept repentance from His votaries and receives their gifts of charity, and that Allah is verily He, the Oft-Returning, Most Merciful? 9:104
And say: "Work (righteousness): Soon will Allah observe your work, and His Messenger, and the Believers: Soon will ye be brought back to the knower of what is hidden and what is open: then will He show you the truth of all that ye did."
Those that turn (to Allah) in repentance; that serve Him, and praise Him; that wander in devotion to the cause of Allah,: that bow down and prostrate themselves in prayer; that enjoin good and forbid evil; and observe the limit set by Allah;- (These do rejoice). So proclaim the glad tidings to the Believers. 9:112
In His mercy God has turned to the Prophet, and the emigrants and helpers who followed him in the hour of adversity when some hearts almost wavered: He has turned to them; He is most kind and merciful to them. 9:117
if they spend a little or a lot for God’s cause, if they traverse a mountain pass, all this is recorded to their credit so that God can reward them in accordance with the best of their deeds.
But as for those who believe and do good deeds, their Lord will guide them because of their faith. Streams will flow at their feet in the Gardens of Bliss. 10:9
Their prayer in them will be, ‘Glory be to You, God!’ their greeting, ‘Peace,’ and the last part of their prayer, ‘Praise be to God, Lord of the Worlds.’ 10:10
If God were to hasten on for people the harm [they have earned] as they wish to hasten on the good, their time would already be up. But We leave those who do not expect to meet Us to wander blindly in their excesses. 10:11
When trouble befalls man he cries out to Us, whether lying on his side, sitting, or standing, but as soon as We relieve him of his trouble he goes on his way as if he had never cried out to Us to remove his trouble. In this way the deeds of such heedless people are made attractive to them.10:12 [ Surah Yunus ]
God commands you [people] to return things entrusted to you to their rightful owners, and, if you judge between people, to do so with justice: God’s instructions to you are excellent, for He hears and sees everything. 4:58
You who believe, obey God and the Messenger, and those in authority among you. If you are in dispute over any matter, refer it to God and the Messenger, if you truly believe in God and the Last Day: that is better and fairer in the end.4:59
but We shall admit those who believe and do good deeds into Gardens graced with flowing streams, there to remain for ever––a true promise from God. Who speaks more truly than God? 4:122
But there are also some desert Arabs who believe in God and the Last Day and consider their contributions as bringing them nearer to God and the prayers of the Messenger: they will indeed bring them nearer and God will admit them to His mercy. God is most forgiving and merciful. 9:99
How desperate and ungrateful man becomes when We let him taste Our mercy and then withhold it! 11:9
And if We let him taste mercy after some harm has touched him, he is sure to say, ‘Misfortune has gone away from me.’ He becomes exultant and boastful.
Not so those who are steadfast and do good deeds: they will have forgiveness and a great reward.11:11
[Prophet], keep up the prayer at both ends of the day, and during parts of the night, for good things drive bad away- this is a reminder for those who are aware.11:114
Be steadfast: God does not let the rewards of those who do good go to waste.
If only there had been, among the generations before your time, people with a rem-nant of good sense, to forbid corruption on the earth! We saved only a few of them, while the unjust pursued the enjoyment of plenty, and persisted in sin.11:116
The only true prayer is to Him: those they pray to besides Him give them no answer any more than water reaches the mouth of someone who simply stretches out his hands for it- it cannot do so: the prayers of the disbelievers are all in vain.13:14
All that are in heaven and earth submit to God alone, willingly or unwillingly, as do their shadows in the mornings and in the evenings.13:15
those who fulfil the agreements they make in God’s name and do not break their pledges;13:20
who join together what God commands to be joined; who are in awe of their Lord and fear the harshness of the Reckoning;
who remain steadfast through their desire for the face of their Lord; who keep up the prayer; who give secretly and openly from what We have provided for them; who repel evil with good. These will have the reward of the [true] home:
those who believe and do righteous deeds: joy awaits these, and their final homecoming will be excellent.’13:29
Remember that He promised, “If you are thankful, I will give you more, but if you are thankless, My punishment is terrible indeed.” ’14:7
[Prophet], do you not see how God makes comparisons? A good word is like a good tree whose root is firm and whose branches are high in the sky,14:24
yielding constant fruit by its Lord’s leave- God makes such comparisons for people so that they may reflect-
Tell My servants who have believed to keep up the prayer and give, secretly and in public, out of what We have provided them, before a Day comes when there will be no trading or friendship.14:31 [ Surah Ibrahim ]
Celebrate the glory of your Lord and be among those who bow down to Him:15:98
worship your Lord until what is certain comes to you.
Praise be to Allah Who has sent down upon His bondman the Book and has not made to it any crookedness;18:1
Most upright, to warn of strict violence from very close to Him, and to give good tidings to the believers who do very deeds of righteousness that they will have a fair reward,
18:2 Staying therein forever.
[Prophet], follow what has been revealed to you of your Lord’s Scripture: there is no changing His words, nor can you find any refuge except with Him.18:27
Content yourself with those who pray to their Lord morning and evening, seeking His approval, and do not let your eyes turn away from them out of desire for the attractions of this worldly life: do not yield to those whose hearts We have made heedless of Our Quran, those who follow their own low desires, those whose ways are unbridled.18:28
As for those who believe and do good deeds- We do not let the reward of anyone who does a good deed go to waste-
Wealth and children are the attractions of this worldly life, but lasting good works have a better reward with your Lord and give better grounds for hope.18:46
while those who believed and did good deeds will have the best of rewards: we shall command them to do what is easy for them.’18:88 [ Surah Al-Kahf ]
The day will come when We raise up in each community a witness against them, and We shall bring you [Prophet] as a witness against these people, for We have sent the Scripture down to you explaining everything, and as guidance and mercy and good news to those who devote themselves to God.16:89
God commands justice, doing good, and generosity towards relatives and He forbids what is shameful, blameworthy, and oppressive. He teaches you, so that you may take heed.16:90
Fulfil any pledge you make in God’s name and do not break oaths after you have sworn them, for you have made God your surety: God knows everything you do.
What you have runs out but what God has endures, and We shall certainly reward those who remain steadfast according to the best of their actions.16:96
To whoever, male or female, does good deeds and has faith, We shall give a good life and reward them according to the best of their actions.16:97 [Surah An-Nahl ]
They used to slumber (only) little of the night; 51:17
And before dawn, it is they (who) would seek forgiveness.
And in their riches, the beggar and the dispossessed have what is truthfully their due. 51:19 [ Surah Adh-Dhariyat ]
And (endure) patiently under the Judgment of your Lord, (for) then surely you are under Our Eyes, and extol with the praise (s) of your Lord when you rise up.
And for (part) of the night, then (also) extol Him, and at the with drawing of the stars. 52:49 [ Surah At-Tur ]
You who believe, when you come to speak privately with the Messenger, offer something in charity before your conversation: that is better for you and purer. If you do not have the means, God is most forgiving and merciful. 58:12 [ Surah Al-Mujadila ]
Were you afraid to give charity before consulting the Prophet? Since you did not give charity, and God has relented towards you, you should [at least] observe your prayers, pay the prescribed alms, and obey God and His Messenger: God is well aware of your actions.
Believers! When the call to prayer is made on the day of congregation, hurry towards the reminder of God and leave off your trading––that is better for you, if only you knew–– 62:9
then when the prayer has ended, disperse in the land and seek out God’s bounty. Remember God often so that you may prosper.
Yet they scatter towards trade or entertainment whenever they observe it, and leave you [Prophet] standing there. Say, ‘God’s gift is better than any entertainment or trade: God is the best provider.’
62:11 [ Surah Al-Jumu'ah ]
Not so those who pray 70:22
and are constant in their prayers;
who give a due share of their wealth
to beggars and the deprived;
who believe in the Day of Judgement
and fear the punishment of their Lord––
none may feel wholly secure from it––
Places of worship are for God alone- so do not pray to anyone other than God-72:18 [ Surah Al-Jinn ]
yet when God’s Servant stood up to pray to Him, they pressed in on him.
Say, ‘I pray to my Lord alone; I set up no partner with Him.’72:20
Say, ‘I have no control over any harm or good that may befall you.’
Say, ‘No one can protect me from God: I have no refuge except in Him.
O you wrapped ˹in your clothes˺!
Stand all night ˹in prayer˺ except a little—73:2
˹pray˺ half the night, or a little less,
or a little more—and recite the Quran ˹properly˺ in a measured way.
˹For˺ We will soon send upon you a weighty revelation.
Indeed, worship in the night is more impactful and suitable for recitation.
For during the day you are over-occupied ˹with worldly duties˺.
˹Always˺ remember the Name of your Lord, and devote yourself to Him wholeheartedly.
˹He is the˺ Lord of the east and the west. There is no god ˹worthy of worship˺ except Him, so take Him ˹alone˺ as a Trustee of Affairs.
73:9 [ Surah Al-Muzzammil ]
Surely this is a reminder. So let whoever wills take the ˹Right˺ Way to their Lord.73:19
.[Prophet], your Lord is well aware that you sometimes spend nearly two-thirds of the night at prayer––sometimes half, sometimes a third––as do some of your followers. God determines the division of night and day. He knows that you will not be able to keep a measure of it and He has relented towards all of you, so recite as much of the Quran as is easy for you. He knows that some of you will be sick, some of you travelling through the land seeking God’s bounty, some of you fighting in God’s way: recite as much as is easy for you, keep up the prayer, pay the prescribed alms, and make God a good loan. Whatever good you store up for yourselves will be improved and increased for you. Ask God for His forgiveness, He is most forgiving, most merciful. 73:20
"What inserted you into Saqar?" 74:42
They will say, "We were not of the ones who prayed,
And we did not feed the indigent,
And we used to wade with the waders, (i.e., wade in vaintalk).
And we used to cry lies to the Day of Doom. 74:46
Until the Certitude came up to us."
So in no way will the intercession of the intercessors profit them.
To your Lord upon that Day will be the driving.75:30
So he neither sincerely (believed) nor prayed,
But he cried lies, and turned away;
Thereafter he went to his family striding haughtily.75:33
(It is) more appropriate to you, then more appropriate! (i.e., punishment).75:34 [ Surah Al-Qiyamah ]
Indeed, the virtuous will have a drink ˹of pure wine˺—flavoured with camphor—76:5
A spring whereat drink the bondmen of Allah, making it to gush forth with plenteous gushing (i.e., abundantly).
They fulfill (their) vows and fear a Day whose evil is spread all over;
And they give food (Literally: feed with food) for the love of Him, (Or: love of it) to the indigent, (and) the orphan, and the captive.76:8
"Surely we feed you only for the Face of Allah. We would not have any recompense from you, nor thankfulness.76:9
Surely we fear from our Lord a most frowning Day most inauspicious."
So, Allah has protected them from the evil of that Day and has granted (Literally: made them receive) them bloom and pleasure.
And He has recompensed them for (enduring) patiently with a Garden and silk.76:12
And remember the Name of your Lord before sunrise and before sunset.76:25
And (part) of the night; so prostrate yourself to Him, and extol Him through the long night.
Surely these (people) love the hasty (world) and leave behind them a heavy Day.76:27 [ Surah Al-Insan ]
Now, whenever a human being is tested by their Lord through ˹His˺ generosity and blessings, they boast, “My Lord has ˹deservedly˺ honoured me!” 89:15
But when He tests them by limiting their provision, they protest, “My Lord has ˹undeservedly˺ humiliated me!”
Absolutely not! In fact, you are not ˹even˺ gracious to the orphan,
nor do you urge one another to feed the poor.
And you devour ˹others’˺ inheritance greedily,89:19
and love wealth fervently.
Enough! When the earth is entirely crushed over and over,
and your Lord comes ˹to judge˺ with angels, rank upon rank,
and Hell is brought forth on that Day—this is when every ˹disbelieving˺ person will remember ˹their own sins˺. But what is the use of remembering then?
He will say, "Oh would that I had forwarded some good for my (future) life!" 89:24
and shown them the two ways ˹of right and wrong˺? 90:10
If only they had attempted the challenging path ˹of goodness instead˺!
And what will make you realize what ˹attempting˺ the challenging path is?
or to give food in times of famine
or to a poor person in distress, 90:16
and—above all—to be one of those who have faith and urge each other to perseverance and urge each other to compassion.
These are the people of the right. 90:18
As for those who deny Our signs, they are the people of the left.
The Fire will be sealed over them. [ Surah Al-Balad ]
And approach not the wealth of the orphan save with that which is better, till he reach maturity. Give full measure and full weight, in justice. We task not any soul beyond its scope. And if ye give your word, do justice thereunto, even though it be (against) a kinsman; and fulfil the covenant of Allah. This He commandeth you that haply ye may remember.
