i really love that they treated maddie’s reunions with wally and simon the same. both scenes have build up and slowmos and gravity too them. because both relationships are just as important to maddie as each other. her relationship with simon may be plutonic but that doesnt mean its not as important as her romantic relationship with wally and on the same vein, her relationship with wally may be shorter and newer but it doesnt mean its not as significant as her childhood bond with simon.

the different bonds are reflections of each other and the actions of wally and simon through out the show demonstrate the value the writers place in all kinds of relationships not just the romantic ones most shows focus on.

idk it just refreshing to have a writing/directing/acting team care about the friendships and plutonic relationships in a show just as much as the romantic ones.

that post about parents realising one day they picked up their kids for the last time but make it bruce wayne training like a goddamn warrior for the express purpose of always being able to pick up even his biggest kids

but then make it about the phrase “i trust you about as far as i can throw you” and that thought occurring to mr. contingency™️, mr. ready for anything™️, mr. has a plan for everything™️, himself: batman. so he doesnt just train to pick up his kids he trains to throw them as far as humanly (even inhumanly - its batman come on) possible

it mostly becomes a running joke with himself or quiet motivation when hes working out. then cut to some case jason needs to work with him and theyre arguing and before a full “oh come on bruce! you trust me about as far as you could thro-“ jason has been hoisted over bruce’s shoulder and thrown across the cave

its not a great distance metaphorically, but its pretty fuxking far for a guy jason’s size to be thrown. they get through the case without a single other argument about trust

i went with bruce, the idea of hal crashing on of his fancy events is too fun

hal arguing that “batman doesnt kill” and bruce fully serious (as usual) “yeah but bruce wayne might” and hal laughing but then blue screen, record scratch, wait maybe bruce wayne does kill, the guy talks about himself in the third person ALL THE TIME. who knows how far the compartmentalisation goes.

and how would they know? batman doesnt let anyone in gotham, maybe gotham has a serial killer celebrity that’s just an open secret. ‘cause you know what? brucie has been through a lot he’s bound to be a lil crazy and he only gets the bad guys so whats the harm?

no but imagine your whole planet dying when you’re a kid. your family, your friends, your home all gone. in the last days your parents send you to a strange planet in a spaceship by yourself and tell you to live for them and to take care of your baby cousin. but when you get there hes already grown up and he doesnt remember your home and hes a stranger and he doesnt need you to take care of him. so your just angry about losing everything and have no purpose. hes already a hero and your just THERE.

and you’re so strong you crush door nobs and break tables and one push could send a normal person flying, so you have to be careful and gentle… so gentle, soft touches for everything but its hard to be soft when youre this angry at the universe. and others touching you doesnt feel the same. gentle reassuring pats on the shoulder are a light brush and a hug? …that should be a big squeeze but its only a gentle hold. those comforts aren’t ENOUGH.

but you have this dog from your home, hes all yours and hes just as strong as you and when he plays you can FEEL it, when he pushes you fall and laugh and you can hug him SO SO TIGHT and he wont be crushed. hes the only thing that makes you feel ALIVE on this planet.

so why would you train him to be gentle? when his strength and roughhousing is what makes you love him all the more? when he makes you feel human and normal and reminds you of the best parts of home
