I used to day dream about singing and playing the guitar on the stage when I was a kid. But it was never a career option at all. Moreover had never taken any conscious steps towards it too. Normally I am very hesitant to to sing cover songs.But but when it comes to a @arrahman sir composition it's too tempting not to attempt it. One,because of the dynamics in the melody and secondly me being a Baritone (voice tone) reaching his high notes does challenge your singing technique a lot. At other times maybe I would lower the scale a couple of semitones down but today just felt like pushing myself- with the risk of sounding a bit jarring at places. It's amazing how things can just flow to you when you're in a receptive mode. It's a state where you don't exist. You're "Shunya" .The Shunya state has been commonly misconstrued in the west as nothingness.It does not mean nothingness or emptiness.It cannot! It means "completeness " - it means one with the whole. It means "not one thing " - it means "everything " .Actually there is no word in English language to truly describe Shunya.Its a state to be experienced. It is to be witnessed. Just after a travel I like to do #suryanamaskar at a good pace. Helps me beat the inertia and gets me energised for the rest of the day. This is one travel habit that am glad I inculcated because I tend to get quite lethargic.Normally it's not advisable to practice Yog fast but once you've got your form and breathing firmly in place why not. 15 mins of this gets you drenched in sweat. Learning the art of recording was a new concept to me.I thought if you're a decent singer you can pull of a session easily. But in front of a condenser microphone even a minute error is magnified many folds. It's like you're facing stark reality of what stage of your skill you're at. The "Muhurta" shot of Tu Dil Main Sama. Couldn't encapsule the mood of the song any better. Heavy dark clouds(just couldn't get the exposure right) , choppy sea loud waves (could barely hear the song audio for the lip sync), strong gusty winds ( barely could get the camera steady inspite of a steadycam).pstt pstt: had to run for our lives with all the equipment from the downpour just seconds after we got this take right.
