Kevjean shippers: Jerejean shippers are the dog people of the fandom, they hate and despise Kevin for no reason just like dog people hate and despise cats for no reason! They're irrational and stupid and ridiculous! ahah We are the cat people of the fandom, we are chill with everyone! ahah No offense tho! Really! We're not implying anything bad here! ahah
Me: but... it's Kevjean shippers that cross tags, insult people, are incredibly racist whenever the topic of Thea comes up, wish for Jeremy's death in TBC so that "Kevjean can finally be together", have an obvious hate for his character and his fans and don't care at all about Jean, his mental health, his healing journey... doesn't this make Kevjean shippers the "dog people" of the fandom, actually? Hating Jeremy, Thea, and jerejean shippers for no reason?
Kevjean shipper: OMG WHY ARE YOU INSULTING PEOPLE?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!
🙂
🙂
🙂
I swear, you can't make this shit up 🤦🏽♀️ You are free to insult anyone you want (in their tag!), but as soon as someone points out that your behavior actually constitutes what you're describing, it's suddenly not ok? Now being "dog people" is an open insult? But when you were calling Jerejean fans that, it wasn't? 😂
(btw no one "hates Kevin for not reason"; we dislike his fans for the behavior described above, and we simply see Kevin for who he is as Nora wrote him; take it up with her and leave us alone)
No, when I asked what the post meant (I'm autistic, so I wasn't sure if I was getting it right) the op contacted me via DM and kevjean shippers in the replies made an ass of themselves. They inspired this post. Now please get off my blog and stay away from the JereJean tag. Thank you.
I should've known the "validity" of your claims when you used words that were not once used in that discussion. Misinterpretation is one thing, media illiteracy is another, but you've unfortunately surpassed both!
you clearly found this post in jerejean tag, is what they're saying. which proves their point that kevin stans go in the tag just to start shit and then play the victim when people respond 🙄 and yes the kevjean shippers under that post were acting a fool. but you don't care, do you?
Anyway, when I was in college I was constantly going to marches and protests against canadian and saudi mining projects in the Santurbán páramo, one of the most important ecosystems in Colombia in terms of biodiversity, and the source of drinking water of 30+ municipalities in my state, including the city I live in. Ultimately these mining proposals lost their license due to environmental regulations.
But now that our new far-right president elect is looking to suck up to imperial core powers once again, canadian mining corporation Aris mining is interested in re-starting mining projects in Santurbán. Which, would inevitably give cyanide poisoning not only to my city's drinking water, but 30+ other municipalities and indigenous communities.
"why do you still bring up charlie kirk" because it's funny. his death is genuinely a running joke to me. you could say it's the greatest contribution he has made to society
Never seen such a... malleable man. He just... went with it so readily. A comment said you know he likes his hair pulled too and I can't stop thinking about it. Come here boy *crack crack*
Jean was 14!! when he met Kevin and 16!! when they joined the Nest and then Kevin betrayed him. Jean was a child with a childhood crush. Now he hates Kevin.
I wish people would realize they can admit they don't like Jeremy and Jerejean, they don't have to rewrite history and treat everyone like they're idiots for not believing a 14 year old was IN LOVE with someone. And that that "love" should condition his entire life and future relationships.
Nora said Kevin's betrayal made a friendship between him and Jean forever impossible. She said whoever Kevin ends up in a relationship with will have to deal with Kevin's narcissism. But they are ok with ignoring all of that because a child had a crush on him. Right right...
Kevin solo stans are really the scourge of this fandom. Kevin is not the love of anyone's life. Except Thea's, but they don't like that right?
I understand they're probably as narcissistic as Kevin is and that's why they make everything and everyone revolve around him, but that the truth is that IN CANON people can barely stand Kevin. Jeremy only texts him sporadically throughout the years, they're not even friends. According to Nora, Kevin has NO friends, not even Andreil, and will remain friendless until he retires from Exy. The closest person he has is Thea.
These people have built a version of Kevin in their heads that doesn't exist in canon or in the author's extra content. The only people who canonically can stand Kevin are Thea, Coach, Abby and Renee. Jeremy barely knows him and after the way he saw Kevin treat Jean (pulling rank and ordering Jean around like a dog, as Kevin does with everyone) rest assured he will not be as friendly with him.
Canonically no one likes or loves Kevin except for Thea and Coach, people need to get over it and leave the fandom alone.
Mingi yeosang compliment anon again. Got so caught up in the drama I didnt even get to talk about minsang. This one is shorter, I promise 🤗 lol.
It's been nice to see how they seem to click really well now to the point where yeosang specifically talks to his fans "privately" about how they hang out, how comfortable he is with mingi, and even saying he feels they have a similar way of thinking to the point that he thinks mingi probably feels the same. Which is interesting for yeosang to say bc he doesn't seem like the type to thoughtlessly say things about others, especially not on their behalf, so he must be Really comfortable and Really confident that it's reciprocated.
After their audio live and them mentioning their mbti was the EXACT OPPOSITE (lol), I looked it up out of curiosity and pretty much every potential issue that mbti duo combo could have (which as you would expect from direct opposites, was ALOT), they seem to already have figured out either by adjusting their own behavior or learning to understand the other. Like, I recall yeosang saying mingi had become better at outwardly empathizing and offering kind words (his own phrasing referenced mbti: he's become more of an F(eeling) type). On yeosang's end he's said that even though mingi can be brash and blunt, he's still very caring and has his own way of looking out for people he cares about. I haven't been here long, just over a year, but from what I've seen and things they've said, it seems like something they accomplished with time and trial and error. Which is sweet, even if they didn't click immediately (their first meeting story still makes me laugh), they took the time to learn to understand each other and adapt to one another.
I also love how even though the other members keep pushing the narrative that they don't match well, yeosang keeps pushing back. Like I think after the audio live he said smth like everytime someone says they're an "awkward duo", he gets confused and genuinely doesn't seem to get why they have that impression. The vibe is very "we're friends and we like each other. no one else needs to understand it except us."
Something I've found interesting about their relationship since I first noticed it is that mingi imo is the most "normal" about yeosang (or maybe second after yunho?). Like yeah everyone in the group likes to act lowkey (sometimes high key) obsessed with him, including mingi, but he shows it less frequently, more subtly, and doesn't often go so hard with the skinship. He also doesn't put him on a pedestal or treat him like he's a child, even if others do. He's very normal about him. So even before yeosang said anything, I thought it was interesting that he seemed the most drawn to mingi in alot of ways. Mingi, who is the most normal towards him. I know he likes mingi for a variety of reasons (ys himself has said as much), but I wonder if that is a factor.
My understanding of their relationship is very skewed toward yeosang's pov since I dont happen upon mingi's fromm or live/fan account translations very often if he mentions yeosang. But just seeing how he interacts with him and how attentive he is with yeosang, I don't doubt that it's a reciprocated bond.
Idk if you have a different perspective since mingi is your bias and you probably see more from his side, but if you had anything to add I'd be interested in hearing it! I do want to ask, mingi seems somewhat physically affectionate in general, but is he a big hand holder with other members like he is with yeosang? The habit is cute either way, but I was curious.
(random side note: I do like how mingi likes to debate and yeosang is really witty and good at making random shit up to tease people. That's a fun show idea, even as a one episode bit. mingi having to genuinely debate, yeosang making up random bullshit within certain perameters to counter him that mingi has to debunk, and jongho (and maybe yunho) as the host/judge/professional shitstirrer.....I hate when I randomly make fun things up that we'll never get....kq hire me. It's not like I'll set the executive offices on fire while I'm there or anything....)
Hello anon! Tank you for your patience! The fanmeeting was A Lot and then my body decided we had to pay for all the excitement and I came down with the nastiest cold of my life in 40°C degree weather :D I feel like my head might explode any moment now but I didn't want to put this off any longer! (btw one thing abt me is that my immune system hates me and I'm perpetually sick, so don't feel guilty lol)
First things first, since you're a rookie Atiny, I suggest you check out @thirstkanaphan for Ateez meta, ships and her weekly Tinytown Digest; and @atiny-for-life for a more archive-like blog that posts news, Lore, translations of pop lives and chats! In case you're interested in catching up with Mingi things that don't come from my very biased self 🤪
My answer is going to be long and very Mingi-pilled, you've been warned!
Oh, my MinSang 😭😭
And here.
Indeed, I think it's quite rare for Yeosang to be so open about his feelings! He's gotten much better at it in the past months and I felt a lil emotional when he said he was happy to be paired up with Captain for the fanmeeting because he feels safe with him 😭
1 2 3 4 5
But what drives me insane about MinSang specifically is that Yeosang often brings up Mingi completely unprompted, he just likes to talk about him!
My friends and I joke all the time that Ateez's bias is Yeosang, and Yeosang's bias is Mingi 😂 (and Mingi's bias is Ateez 💗)
Ateez: constantly fight over Yeosang
Yeosang at any chance: Mingi :D
Really if we pay attention to their dynamic, it's so easy to see how often Yeosang chooses Mingi 💗 and how often he teases him in ways he'd never try with the others 💗
he must be Really comfortable and Really confident that it's reciprocated
And you see, this is exactly why Mingi is my bias! 😭 He might be a bit shy or even intimidating at first, but once he deems you trustworthy, that you are his person, you will never, ever doubt that you are his person. He will never play coy or hard to get. You are his and he is yours and everyone will know it! Especially you! lol
And for someone like Yeosang? Who tends to be misunderstood and underestimated because he's shy and pretty and people don't bother to look any deeper than that, I think that means a lot. Mingi will never leave him wondering if he's appreciated, if he's too much, or not enough. When you're Mingi's friend, you always feel like you're good.
I think this is part of why Mingi is sooo good at making connections in the industry (Ateez say he has the most connections out of all of them). Seonghwa, Yunho and San might be more idol-like and proper, Wooyoung more outwardly sociable, but Mingi has something addictive to him: his honesty. His compliments never come off as flattery and his interest in you always feels genuine, never fake. We call him the industry sunbae/dilf&milf collector for a reason!
Mingi has this way of making people feel special, and good, and worthy of admiration and care and friendship. And the thing is: he backs it up with actions. He has the most connections because he takes the time and puts in the effort to cultivate them.
The dates with Yeosang, where Yeo just has to tell him what he wants to do, and Mingi will take care of everything so he can just relax and enjoy himself, are just the most immediate example. A while ago Hongjoong was asked who he'd like to go on holiday with, and he said Mingi for this same reason, because Mingi would take care of everything and go along with whatever HJ wants. It's a known fact that this is Mingi.
Another example is Mingi at his first Louboutin party at the Paris Fashion Week this past winter, where Jaden Smith unveiled his new collection. Mingi was the only person to wear something from the collection, and not jut something, but several pieces. Jaden was so excited 😭 Months later, at this summer's PFW Louboutin party, Jaden and Will Smith greeted Mingi like an old friend, and Jaden called him one of his boys.
Alex Karlsson (one of Ateez's producers for some The World era tracks) also told us of a hilarious encounter he had at some Korean billionaire party in Seoul, before he and Ateez started working together. Mingi was at the party (because of course Mr. Connections was there) and when he saw Alex he immediately recognized him and told him "We're gonna be best friends!". Then Alex inadvertently pissed off another Korean artist, and Mingi followed the guy when he stormed off to try and placate him lol (AK named no names tho). Anyway, Karlsson said Mingi is one of the nicest people he's ever worked with, always friendly and sweet.
Also a dancer who performed with them at Coachella said something similar: "He is different, his energy is so pure. He gave us a big bear hug after the performance and was thinking every single person. Super, super nice."
And even on talk shows, Mingi is loud and quirky and he's the bane of the host's existence... but I dare you to find a host that isn't ready to adopt him and take him home after the video is wrapped up 😂
For BBTrippin, the first thing that comes to their mind when asked about him is that he is "pure adorable" and "hands down the biggest softie in the group".
Mingi has become infamous for always giving speeches to Ateez, to the staff, to the directors and people working on the sets of their music videos. When they're all tired, and cold, and overworked, Mingi will take the time to loudly praise (aka shout lol) and thank everybody and wish for the shoot to go smoothly. He's so sweet.
I love how under these type of videos the comments are always full of love for Mingi, calling him a natural and asking for him to be on more talk shows 🥹
Also adding this because he's jsut so cute here and he has such good chemistry with Hyoyeon (Sunbae collector 😏), and the interview is really interesting:
(or check out my posts about it)
When Mingi respects, admires and loves someone, he doesn't play around! Which brings me to the next point... T vs F!
And also this post of mine about Mingi growing up doing Girl Crush concepts, aka concepts about female empowerment and sensuality made popular by 2NE1... who he is friends with now!
For Mingi, making connections is more than merely knowing someone's name. He shows true interest in the other person, and true admiration for their artistry!
Which is sweet, even if they didn't click immediately (their first meeting story still makes me laugh), they took the time to learn to understand each other and adapt to one another.
I have to admit I know nothing about MBTI, I can't for the life of me remember any of the categories, I just know that I remember watching a video of a fancall between Mingi and a fan he had spoken to before and she asked him "Remember my MBTI?" and he remembered it PERFECTLY after months/possibly a year or more and she was shocked and so was I because what kind of witchcraft is this?????? 😂
Mingi is an Extrovert T, and Yeosang an Introvert F, and that's as far as I can remember 😂
(as for me, I am similar to Yeosang, I remember Introvert and F in my results, but nothing else... now that I think about it, maybe that's why, just like Yeosang, I'm so drawn to Mingi! 😂)
As many other things in the fandom (zodiac signs, birth charts, blood types, introvert/extrovert labels, tarot readings) I feel like MBTI is sometimes taken a bit too seriously, and very often it is used to criticize or make fun of T types. Or even worse, as an excuse to not put any effort into cultivating a friendship with a T type, like, "we're just too incompatible, what can you do" (which is something that I've read a lot in meta when it comes to Mingi and Yeosang being "awkward" with eo, or Wooyoung and Seonghwa allegedly disliking Mingi)
So often I've seen MBTI used for bad, specifically against my bias, that now my hackles raise whenever I see it mentioned lol
The thing is, everyone is both a T and an F, we just lean more towards one or the other. Just like everyone is both introverted and extroverted, we just lean more towards one or the other. And different people can bring out different traits in us, in different situations.
There was a time when Mingi was super stressed about being the only T in the group and he kept taking the test hoping he'd eventually come out as an F... and isn't that a very F behavior??? being so stressed about it??? But I think now he has realized there isn't that big of a gap between T and F, that he and the rest of Ateez don't belong to two different species, fundamentally unable to understand and comunicate with each other.
And I think Ateez has realized this, too. They had to get over their prejudices as well lol
That T people are cold and unfeeling and unsympathetic. We know for a fact that that's the furthest thing from the truth when it comes to Mingi. He wears his heart on his sleeve and feels so deeply, he writes songs about how much he feels. He had to go on hiatus because he was feeling so damn much. So what's so T about him? Simply the way he puts his feelings into words. He's direct, matter-of-fact, and above all he's a realist.
I don't remember the exact circumstances, but when during a pop live fans asked him about Ateez performing more songs at awards shows, he simply shrugged and told them "that's the way it is". Meaning: we come from a small company and that's what we get. Another member would have reassured Atiny that they would try to get more screen time next time, that things would improve for sure! But Mingi was like, this is how things are now, and I won't give you false hope they'll change if I'm not 100% positive myself that it'll happen. Some F types find his approach too direct, not idol-like enough. Personally, I find it very respectful. He wants Atiny to manage their expectations as to not get disappointed.
But this is what I mean when I say MBTI shouldn't be taken too seriously. If it can ruin the perception you have of an idol, or if you can use it to write meta about how a certain member doesn't and will never fit in with the rest of the goup... it's a problem, imo.
Speaking of F types being kinda mean to Ts, did you know that San has to lie about his MBTI? I just saw some posts/videos about it on twitter. Basically when he took the test again and he came out as a T, fans were so upset about it that San decided to lie and keep saying he's an F (result he got years before) 🙈 Some people were already upset at him being an introvert, him also being a T was simply too much to bear 😅
T and F aren't different, incompatible species. And I'm very glad that whenever Ateez bring it up now, they just lightheartedly joke about it.
(I suspect more members took the test again, more recently, and came out as Ts lol because people change with time, and now they can suddenly put themselves in Mingi's shoes 😂)
Here's a post about Jongho, Wooyoung, Yeosang and Seonghwa saying Mingi is a very comforting person that they feel grateful for. I can't stop thinking about how touching it is, that Jongho was asked about the thing he felt the most grateful for in the past 7 years with Ateez, and he said Mingi. Like???? are we serious rn? My heart 💖
In the past (Guerrilla era), Seonghwa also told us about how Mingi always takes care of him, always makes sure he eats enough, always takes care of preparing or bringing him meals. And we've seen him help Seonghwa not stress about weight too much.
San also told us several times that Mingi is always taking care of everyone around him, the other members, the staff (even fans, he always asks if they've eaten and ordered food for them at events!) and is a favorite among the Ateez parents (he's apparently San's dad's bias and the two of them have, like, weekly phone calls, and he's also the favorite of Yunho's family, as they've known him for 10+ years). He went as far as to say that if something sweet happens, Mingi is probably the one behind it... but you'll never know it because he doesn't like to take credit for these acts of kindness 😭
4 months ago the members played a game of "Who is most likely to", and Seonghwa and San both agreed that Mingi is the one most likely to secretly take care of everyone around him 💗
Year after year, these descriptions of Mingi don't change 💗 and all throughout it, he remains a T. Tell me about breaking stereotypes!
Well, damn, I wrote a lot about a subject I know very little about lol but yeah, all this to say that I don't think there's that big of a difference between T and F, but the members definitely do (or did), and they still found a way to get over it 💗
I also love how even though the other members keep pushing the narrative that they don't match well, yeosang keeps pushing back. Like I think after the audio live he said smth like everytime someone says they're an "awkward duo", he gets confused and genuinely doesn't seem to get why they have that impression. The vibe is very "we're friends and we like each other. no one else needs to understand it except us."
In MinSang's case, I think that Yeosang became more and more confident throughout the years, not only in front of the camera, but with the members, too. He started being more unfiltered, more quirky, more Yeosang. More open and honest (because he finally knows that he will be accepted and loved no matter what, because of his Yeosang-ness, and not in spite of it). And Mingi is very receptive to honesty. He appreciates it and matches it. So as a consequence Mingi could understand and empathize with Yeosang more 💗
Yeosang has also become tougher, so he can handle direct, matter-of-fact opinions better, without putting his shields up.
Besides, Mingi rarely if ever makes fun of people in a mean way, which I think makes Yeosang even more open to accepting his words for what they are, without thinking of hidden meanings. In the off-chance that they hurt, it's not done with malice. The words hurt because of what they reflect - reality - and not because of the intent behind them.
Like when Seonghwa complained about gaining weight, and instead of bending over backwards to reasusre him that nooo, that's not true, don't worry! as some people would do, Mingi simply told him it's ok, don't stress. Someone else might have felt offended, like oh, so you agree I gained weight, but Seonghwa took his words exactly for what they were: reassuring and true.
Or when Yunho did a dance solo at I don't remember what music award, and performance over Mingi barged out of the changing room looking for him because he wanted to be the first to hug and congratulate him: the first thing Yunho tells him is "I could have done better", and Mingi immediately replies with "No, no, no, what's done is done. You did really well."
I think that:
1) with someone else, Yunho would have taken the congratulations and moved on, but with Mingi he knew he could reveal his frustrations and receive the type of reassurance he needed in that moment;
2) imo the others would have replied with "what are you saying?! you were great!" or made fun of him for his 'fake modesty' (completely missing the point), but Mingi doesn't; the first thing he does is continued physical affection, the second is to tell Yunho that there's no point in stressing about things he cannot change; and thirdly, he compliments him again, stopping Yunho's train of thought once and for all; then he brings him back to the others to receive more praise, and now Yunho is in a headspace where he's ready to receive it.
Yunho is a perfectionist, he's incredibly harsh on himself and he rarely thinks he was good enough, perfect enough (even when he did an objectively great job). And Mingi knows this. imo this is why he wanted to be the first person to see Yunho after the performance, he expected Yunho to not be perfectly happy, because his first dance solo on a major stage wasn't perfectly perfect by his unreasonably high standards, and he knew he would need Mingi's direct, definitive words to clear his head.
Maybe to some people (possibly to Ateez too, in the past!) Mingi's behavior comes off as dismissive, but that's not it. Mingi doesn't dismiss people's feelings, he puts things into perspective! Quickly and effectively. And gives the others a way to lay their worries to rest for the time being.
The message is always What's done is done, no point in worrying about the past; think about how you can make the future better, instead. And in the meantime, I'll still compliment you for doing your best and because I think you were great, anyway.
And now Ateez understands it 💗
So has Mingi really become "more F", or have Ateez simply learned to empathize with him? 👀 And read his words and intent for what they are? Or have they become more T, to the point where they're all pretty balanced? Much to ponder, methinks...
My friends and I always say that Yeosang is incapable of fighting back... until you touch his friendship with Mingi 😌
I love them, your honor 🔪 (the knife is for anyone that still doubts their friendship)
I will never forget that moment in a Wanteez episode where Yeosang is struggling to put a line of tape on the ground to separate the "game area" from the staff, and Seonghwa comments "He's so cute!" and Mingi's like "... what's cute about that?" LMAO
I've said this in the past for YunGi, but I think a big strenght Mingi has is that he sees you and treats you exactly in the way that you need to be seen and treated. Ateez see Yunho as the infallible golden retriever boyfriend, which is flattering, but also... a lot of pressure to put one one guy! By contrast, Mingi sees Yunho as the general that runs dance practice like the military and he's not afraid to tell him so (like I suspect the rest of Ateez are lol they very much want to sell the "perfect Yunho" agenda). Mingi sees Yunho in a very human, practical way, and I'm reminded that these two went through puberty together, saw each other at their emotional and physical worst (they shower together ffs), they're both very aware of how human and fallible the other is. Mingi thinks the world of Yunho, but at the same time, he manages not to idolize Yunho the way the others do. He gives Yunho the space to be human and make mistakes. He'll be there to catch him when (not if) he falls. Yunho is his best friend first, and an idol adored by millions second. And I think this is very similar for MinSang.
I think that in all other ships, Yeosang gets infantilized a lot, both by the other members and by the fandom. But with Mingi, they're equals 🤝
Yeosang likes compliments and positive attention, as they all do. But he doesn't like to be infantilized. He doesn't like to be treated like a Maltese puppy. And he definitely doesn't care to be called cute in a situation where he's struggling to complete a task 😂 Ateez are of course very aware of how capable Yeosang really is... but is the audience? As you pointed out in your previous ask, some people are convinced Yeosang is dumb. And some of the behaviors Ateez display (because they can't help themselves, it comes from a place of love!) inadvertently give weight to this "pretty and dumb" idea that people have of Yeosang. But not Mingi.
Did you know that in Korea, MinSang is called Dobez, because they are both Dobermanns? And in the puppy interview Ateez did, Yeosang called Mingi a Dobermann. And you definitely know how much Yeosang wants to be seen as a Dobermann himself, how pouty and offended he gets when Atiny call him a Maltese, and how excited when he is called a powerful Dobermann...
Silly example, but during a unit fancall MinSang got asked to recreate a picture of a lion roaring in the ear of an innocent and dumb-looking apple (??? I think lol): Yeosang immediately got up to play the role of the aggressive animal, while Mingi stayed seated, not a thought behind those boba eyes, playing the apple. They didn't even need to discuss it... now think of Yeosang with any other member in the same situation lol I think maybe Seonghwa and Hongjoong would have let him be the lion, after discussing it first. But with Mingi, Yeosang felt free to act with no hesitation. It's such a small thing, but it reveals a lot, I think 💗
Whiiiich bring me to the next point: Mingi, Ateez and physical touch!
I do want to ask, mingi seems somewhat physically affectionate in general, but is he a big hand holder with other members like he is with yeosang? The habit is cute either way, but I was curious.
Fun fact about our Mingi Mangi Mingles Pringles Princess Mingki (that's his official government name, I swear): he was born on August 9th, which happens to be National Hand Holding day! And boy, does he live up to it!
Yes, Mingi is very physically affectionate, with Ateez, with BBT, with his beloved manager-nim, with his family, and even with people he barely knows (see again the Coachella dancers saying he gave bear hugs to everyone)
And yes, hand holding is one of his love languages (along with physical affection in general and acts of service). Not only that, he also loves rubbing your hand with his thumb as he's doing so (iirc in this clip he's holding Yeo's hand)
So the question here isn't really "Is Mingi particularly affectionate with Yeosang?" as much as "What makes Yeosang accept affection from such a tactile person? When we all know he doesn't particularly love physical touch in public?"
And the answer is that if there's one thing that Mingi loves more than touch, it's boundaries. Setting and respecting them. Our consent King.
(before I upset someone, I'm joking, I know this is the bare minimum, but it's still nice to see, you know?)
Mingi isn't the exception just for Yeosang, but also for Hongjoong and Jongho, aka the 3 most skinship averse members in the group.
Hongjoong:
The way Captain's hands seem to experience a gravitational pull towards Mingi's body has become a meme at this point 1 2 3 4 5 6, and the obvious cuteness aggression he feels too.
Hongjoong has gotten leagues better at skinship with the members, but Mingi is the one member he has always been affectionate with, since day 1
Jongho:
Jongho is another example, he seeks out physical touch from Mingi a lot more often than you'd think 1 2 3 4 5 6 + the infamous ass grab and ass bite. That's his favorite hyung that he wanted to marry indeed, I'm not crying, you are 😃
Yeosang:
And I still remember that anecdote rookie Mingi shared about rookie Jongho: that when Mingi is minding his business for too long, Jongho will come sit next to him, lay almost on top of him, pout and whine: "Hyung, why aren't you paying attention to me?" and resort to violence if Mingi doesn't cuddle him fast enough LMAO (and he told the story in front Jongho, who didn't protest or accuse him of lying, so we know it's true).
And that time during an end-of-year video (Dec of '23, start of '24, iirc) where Jongho said he wanted Mingi to rely on him more and not keep any secrets from him, and "Am I a brother to you or not?" and generally complained that Mingi wasn't treating him specially enough (they are so similar!), to which Mingi replied that as a hyung he doesn't want to burden Jongho, and that he is special to him, that after a certain hour he doesn't pick his phone up for anybody bc he needs to rest, but that he always, always picks up if it's Jongho, because he can imagine how hard and lonely it can be to be the youngest in a group (and they say Ts are unfeeling and not empathetic!)
MinSang before Mingi's hiatus were… something else. They were always cuddled together, giggling, gossiping, leaving the group behind to go do their own thing together (we're actually getting closer and closer to that MinSang with every passing day 💗 even in some old Wanteez moments we can see them do all of that), and even before that, back when they were trainees, they used to sneak out of the dorms together to get snacks at night 💗
(In case you don't know, Mingi took an 8 month long hiatus -- Nov 2020-July 2021 -- due to experiencing severe anxiety)
Here's a video of Yeosang hugging Mingi from behind and tickling him, which I don't think he would dare do with another member: 💗
The first half of this video is all moments from their rookie days/pre hiatus: 💗
And here are some MinSang moments all post hiatus (except one small clip): 💗
In a recent video (Idol Human Theater) some members were exposed for some irritating behavior, I remember specifically that San watches YouTube videos at full volume, without earbuds, and that Mingi sings too much, too loudly in the changing room, to the point that Seonghwa has had to develop an anti-Mingi banshee scream. But then after the episode aired both yungo and Yeosang defended Mingi's honor, Yunho by saying that he finds Mingi's behavior energizing before a performance and Yeosang by saying tha the finds it cute:
This hilarious moment from last year, from a Japanese sports day special (might be my favorite MinSang moment ever, the way they’re giggling and wheezing and rolling around on the floor + Ateez and the host loving it; iirc the others were taking the 1vs1 challenges very seriously, so this was very much needed to make the situation lighter and funny and Mingi should be given more credit for always knowing what the situation needs): 💗
(+ shorter but better quality version: 💗)
The only issue they both have is that Mingi doesn't know when to stop lmao
(which is also why a Woogi Troublemaker performance would have been a very bad idea lol... Mingi matches and sometimes surpasses Wooyoung's freak like no one else, and such a performance would have ended up in Ateez potentially getting blacklisted from Korean entertainment 😂 but also 😬🥶)
Back to the main point: Mingi sees people, knows what they need, and respects their boundaries.
And he never assumes that what was tolerated or liked one day will be tolerated and liked the next. He lets the other person set the pace and he adapts to their rules and boundaries.
The fact that Mingi has become more affectionate and "crazy for" Yeosang this past couple of years... depends entirely on Yeosang. It's Yeosang that has become more comfortable with skinship in front of the camera. It's Yeosang that has given Mingi permission to test the limits and fool around.
Again, before Mingi's hiatus, it was usually Yeosang that initiated the most intimate skinship (nuzzling, back hugs, tickling), most of the time. Mingi usually just responded, and only initiated hand holding or side hugs, like he did with everyone else. When he came back and saw that Yeosang didn't really initiate skinship anymore, he adapted and didn't pursue it.
After Mingi came back from hiatus, they all needed to get reacquainted with each other. 8 months is a long time, and COVID and Kingdom happened at the same time. Mingi and Ateez grew and matured separately, and because of the mistreatment they suffered on Kingdom, Ateez trauma bonded with each other in a way they didn't with Mingi. But don't get me wrong, they missed him like a lung. I was told that other groups often pretend members on hiatus suddenly stop existing (it makes sense from business perspective: when you don't know if a member is coming back or not, better get the fans used to his nonexistence), but Ateez absolutely refused to do the same, they brought Mingi up constantly and gave Atiny updates on him and even called him and put him on speaker phone on several occasions. They didn't want anyone to forget Mingi. And above all they didn't want Mingi to forget them and think the group would be ok without him 💗
I'm also thinking about this moment, funny but revealing:
And the same goes for Jongho and Mingi. Before the hiatus is was often Jongho that initiated skinship. After the hiatus, Mingi adapted to Jongho's pace.
Mingi says that sometimes he comes home after work or after the gym, and he finds San sleeping in his bed, so he goes to the living room and then wallows in the dark because "Why should I be out here?"
And isn't this just so... Mingi? He could join San, that's Mingi's bed, after all, it would be his right... but he doesn't, because San is sleeping and can't give him permission. He could go to sleep in San's bed, because revenge and why sleep on the couch when there's a big empty bed in the house, right? But he doesn't, because he knows San doesn't like it when people use his bed. And he doesn't even consider waking San up to throw him out of his bed and ship him back to his own.
And that's Mingi in a nutshell. And that's why he's my bias.
And considering that my friends have dubbed me the Yeosang of our friend group due to my shyness, sarcasm and quirkiness (and I suppose MBTI too lol), I find it as easy as breathing to love MinSang and see the potential they have to become even closer friends 💗
Mingi makes people feel safe 💗
Last part!
Yes, very good, yesss, lemme kiss your brain 💋 mwah!
You know that Ateez+ show where Ateez went on different dates with each other? (I imagine you do, considerign Yeosang defended his friendship with Mingi in one episode, but still lol). SanHwa were like brothers, cute but not very intriguing, Topaz oscillated between having a good time and finding each other unbearable; JongSang and YunGi were the absolute higlights for me, easily.
Mingi took the whole thing so seriously when it came to answering personal questions about his relationship with Yunho and his own feelings on different matters! More of that, please! And I could watch JongSang dates forever, they were so relaxed, so clearly having fun in that quiet, not showy way of theirs... that ended up outshining everyone else. The moments of skinship felt so natural and nice that it didn't feel like fanservice at all, it was just two close friends having fun together.
The 4 of them together? With permission to just be themselves and debate and argue and make jokes about random shit? Yes, please!
now that there's been some time since the hwagi bomb went off
1. man mingi can dance. like we all know it of course but the style range that man has is crazy
2. i heard somewhere that after concerts seonghwa is a little slow to break stage character and he's intense so mingi making him break mid performance is hysterical.
girl why is no one talking about the fact that Mingi was hard 😭
Girl, because he wasn't 😭
I think people using today's pics to make hit tweets about Mingi and Ateez , are going to regret it when haters use those same pics against them next time they decide to "call out" Ateez for being unprofessional 🤷🏾♀️
The first 2 pics are debut-Mingi, the last one is from yesterday's performance: tight or larger trousers, the focus is always on the same area, that's where the fabric pulls, creating a bulge... because... idk how to tell y'all this in a respectful way... Mingi is big.
I don't need to see him naked to know this: his stylists had to stop putting him in tight pants because he kept ripping them with his giant thighs but also because the fabric kept pulling/constricting/drawing attention to a very sensitive area.
Hell, sometimes even large/baggy pants weren't enough... this goes back to debut/19yo Mingi, and it's how we got that unfortunate Pirate King relay dance:
Atiny told me some of the comments at the time were truly disgusting, and that his stylists started dressing him more carefully from then on, giving him trenchcoats or longer shirts.
So yeah, Mingi wasn't hard. He's just that big even when, uh, relaxed. The type of fabric also plays a role in making a bulge seem bigger/more evident. Then he adjusted his trousers and the area was flat again.
The only possible exception that I can think of is Coachella Weekend 1, but even then, the zipper combined with his natural bulge played a role.
(Ateez are professionals, and I don't mean that professionals can't get hard lol but that they wear garments like dance belts or compression shorts to help keep things in place and as flat as possible when doing such high-energy choreos; can you imagine jumping and running all over the stage with things just bouncing and swinging around in your pants? 😂)
Do we think the new contracts had a special clause for Seonghwa and Mingi almost having sex on stage ???? Like, a we're only signing if we get to be the biggest SLUTS in the group specifically WITH EACH OTHER, clause ????
