Choosing the Right Agency
So I feel like I’m getting used to escorting now so I thought I’d share some wisdom. Many people are very anti-agency. And generally speaking, I get it. You’ll make so much more money, have more control, fewer clients, and in many cases it’s safer. However, reading some of the posts on Tumblr, some of these girls are pretty naive and I wouldn’t advise going Indy right away unless you really know what you’re doing and have the money to invest in branding yourself. Agencies can be a great starting point and good ones (like mine) can provide support as well. Still, it’s important to do as much research as possible so you choose the right agency, rather than a scam, or worse, a pimp.
1.) A legit agency will not find you, you will find them. They usually don’t advertise on Craigslist, etc and they will not contact you on any site. Find legit agencies by reading through reviews on The Erotic Review and other escort sites in your area. Make sure they have a website that looks professional.
2.) Make sure the pictures are of actual escorts at the agency. When searching for agencies in NYC, I found that a lot of so-called agencies all had pictures of the same 12 girls. Huge red flag!
3.) A legit agency will not ask for nude pictures! They may ask for lingerie pictures however.
4.) Read through their screening process for clients on their website. They should ask for name, work info, and at least 2 references.
5.) Once you’ve applied, they should set up an interview. Make sure it’s in a public place and prepared a list of questions.
6.) During your interview you should find out: rates, what percentage they take, if they’ve ever had any problems with law enforcement, how much you can expect to make in a night/how many clients you will see, whether they offer a driver (not a deal-breaker if you live in a big city), what costs they cover (hotel rooms, photoshoot, transportation, etc), how scheduling works, how they handle problems if they occur (like an aggressive client), where in calls typically take place (nice hotel vs. trashy motel). Also make sure to find out how and when you get paid. You should be paid upfront after a day of working (i.e.: you just pay out their cut). Other pay structures may indicate more of a pimp-like set-up.
7.) Compare with other agencies in your area. It’s best to interview with several so you can get a better idea of what is legit. Also compare rates, but note that if it seems to good to be true it probably is.
If anything seems off, trust your gut. Also, a legit agency should not make you do anything you’re uncomfortable with (dealing with aggressive clients, working while sick, etc).
