If you pride yourself on saying that you are an “asshole” or that you are “blunt” or even pride yourself on not being a nice person. Don’t be surprised that people don’t want to be around that. People confuse the words blunt and honest. It’s like confusing a knife with a fucking chainsaw. Because they can both cut things Being direct is a fantastic trait to have but being an asshole just shows you have poor emotional control that you wrap up in a flag and label it “I just tell it like it is” When it’s not it’s hurtful. To me all that tells me is that you value saying whatever pops up in your head more than you value whether it is constructive or even necessary. You don’t have to sugarcoat anything. I see so many people thinking that communicating is only two modes. Either being fake . Or I’m an asshole deal with it. You can always be Clear, honest, and assertive. Without turning it into a performance. Being around people like that is draining. And if anyone chooses to not want to be around that then let them.
