I've been complaining about this overall "anti Targaryen", "anti dragon" campaing that hbo shows are pushing (ive seen it a bit in AKOTSK and more and more in season 3 of HOTD) and is not a theme that ive seen portrayed in the books (in the sense that in the books the Targaryens are not seen as an overall "evil" family by the people of westeros nor by the maesters)

and it just struck me that they have to keep pushing this narrative to justify Daenerys awful ending in GOT

because no matter how hard they hammer Aegon's prophecy, they fucked up aegon's prophecy in the main show, so now they have to make it look like the prophecy is another sign of "targaryen madness", and the seven kingdoms were seven peaceful realms before the evil dragon lords came to take it

what i find puzzling is why they keep making shows about characters they so clearly hate and see not as fucked up and complex individuals but as evil incarnate

I just know they're gonna fuck up Aegon, Visenya and Rhaenys so much, my heart cant take it

This fandom is just obsessed with pretending femininity is some moral issue so they can praise themselves for liking the "right" female character. Never mind that Arya is one of the most progressive characters in the books, has a lot of positive relationships with female characters, and is one of the only non-classist noble characters. We literally got "the woman is important too" in her very first chapter. She got justice for a victim of a gang rape that she never even met, which is more then most characters have even thought about doing. She has no issue befriending the courtesans in Braavos despite how Westerosi standards would view them. But none of that means anything because she doesn't conform to the patriarchy. Mind you, there's a character who actually looks down on other women, marginalized ones at that, but that never gets talked about because she passes the trad-wife sniff test. Because you know what really makes a feminist? Wearing dresses, being pretty, and never doing anything but what you're told is okay. And these are the same fans who swear their faves have suffered more then anybody because they're feminine. So basically women should just be feminine, helpless victims who suffer in silence until they're eventually rewarded for "doing their duty". Look at our femininsts dawg, we're never making it out of the patriarchy 😭🙏🏾

funny how people take melisandre as a reliable source only when it comes to her misinterpreting her visions, and not when she cites (in first person or through other characters quoting her) the official azor ahai lore that unequivocally talks about daenerys and daenerys only

we learn from what selyse (= melisandre) says that the aa lore contains the exact “only death can pay for life” principle, the same lesson that is specific to dany’s agot arc and that plays a cardinal role in it, the magical rule that she literally used to birth the dragons. but for some reason we’re supposed to believe it’s just included for the shits and giggles or something

i find it very interesting how yi ti’s version of azor ahai is described as a woman with a monkey’s tail, and then in agot—the same book where dany fulfills the aa prophecy—we learn from one of her chapters that there exist lemurs who look exactly like dany.

lemurs are not monkeys, but their tails are very similar. this detail is also particularly intriguing because this is a legend coming from yi ti, the civilization that descends from the great empire of the dawn
