Honey Bones, Grey Lynn
Drinks pictured: Flat white ($5) and hot chocolate.
Went to Honey Bones for a coffee on Saturday. It was packed when we passed by around noon, but we managed to get a seat around 1.30pm. They serve Coffee Supreme, which was good, and my friend and I really liked the detailed latte art on her hot chocolate!
A friend of mine with a passion for folklore and small presses recently introduced me to Inhabit Media, and I’m so glad to have had a chance to peruse these books.
Inhabit Media is an Inuit-owned publishing company based in Iqaluit, Nunavut (i.e. very very very North). They are dedicated to preserving and promoting the stories, knowledge, culture, and language of the Inuit and of Northern Canada, and they publish a range of books for children and adults that include contemporary and historical fiction, folklore and legends retold and beautifully illustrated, and non-fiction on history, science, and arctic life.
If you enjoy folklore, oral history, wintertime storytelling, or really superbly creepy mermaids, definitely check them out.

“Becoming literate, then, means far more than learning to decode the written representation of a sound system. It is truly an act of knowing, through which a person is able to look critically at the world he/she lives in, and to reflect and act upon it.” — Paulo Freire, Cultural Action for Freedom

18 September 1995, Blur at The Showbar on Bournemouth pier (Seaside Tour)
photos by Wilko (thank you!): The same night Oasis where to play at the BIC a stone’s throw away but I’m sure that got postponed due to the media storm of that time, as I saw them not long after. The photos where taken on a disposable camera and are very hazy probably due to all the cigarette smoke, Damon was handing out beer at this point and I managed to blag a can. This was the best night of my life as a teen growing up in the 90s I was very lucky to always see the band every time they came to town. [X]
