I wanted to illustrate a gaze of hope.
An old piece
I think art is an expression and most artists tend to express themselves; a part of their life, a feeling of theirs, a memory or thought to share to the world. Though most people correlate art with visually appealing pictures, dances or emotionally enchanting music, writing; that is also art through my definition, even when doodling a little stickman - the picture is an expression of your thoughts , a thought which made you doodle a little stickman, a desire which made you want to create something, is being expressed through a little doodle. When a teen draws a character as fanart it is an expression of their love ( or any feeling relative to context ) to the character - it is art, a part of their self - a part of their life being expressed through even a poorly drawn sketch. Even when copying a thing exactly in any medium, like making a cover song, it is art - an expression of oneself in there, their appreciation for the music and their voice to sing or play their instrument to express themselves through a melody. I believe you cannot separate art from the artist, a piece of you will never leave your creation, sadly bad people can also very well make good art. Though our current applications based on large language models , street name AI , cannot make art for it is an algorithm not a being, a code determines the coordinates of pixels from it's piles of data, it has no conscious self. Maybe our imaginary robots like Wall-e and Doraemon, an actual conscious being , actual artificially intelligent being can make art ? It is debatable. Though coding can be a tool to make art or considered an artform, it is much like writing for a purpose - create something, the code expresses the desire to create and it creates many things like games. Games are an artform, some narrate rich stories in an revolutionary way, if I dare to say so, being an actively participating character in a tale rather than a member of the audience is marvelous to me. And these little programs do make us feel varying emotions, it expresses a range of emotions for the player- joy, anger , frustration ; an artform which expresses the player rather than the creator, and that is what art is to me, being able to express a part of life through your creation. If I stretch myself thin from my statement - Science is art, we humans became smarter and decided to learn about our world, and we express the fundamentals of the base design of this universe through the laws of physics, the things we are made of through the lens of chemistry and how we are alive through the studies of biology and a major portion of this is understood through the language of mathematics - hence the world is expressed through the art of Sciences. And these thoughts were in front of us always, a painter uses chemically derived pigments to paint, learns anatomy for the form of the subject , understands the light and calculates the ratios of objects on paper -they use science to imitate life, to express the world. We learn art to learn about people, we learn about Sciences to learn about the world ; people and world cannot be separated so can art and science despite what the society thinks, this is why we should not devalue arts or humanities, how can we discourage creativity and wish for innovations in medicine and technology ? The reason I think Art is important is because empathy, which breeds humanity. Art helps create a medium to absolve differences between people by learning about eachother, movies and books show perspectives different than our own , food is an edible expression of culture, music transends language - when words are not enough to convey feelings and every other artform can share compassion between those who look, speak or identify or love or pray differently . When we discourage art, we lose a part of life and a way to share love. Without love what remains, hate which breeds a lot of cruelty in our world. And right now the world needs art, I feel .
I wanted my first post to be about art , since that is why I am on this platform.
