I hate how for years Silver characterization discourse never went beyond "He's serious". "Silver is a serious character" or "Silver shouldn't be serious because that's just Shadow again". Not even how or why he's serious, just "He's serious.

"Serious" is not a character. It's not a personality, it's not anything by itself. The fact that neither side could say anything about Silver in the games besides "He's serious" for years shows how much Sonic Team doesn't explain him. People hated Silver when he debuted because they viewed him as nothing but serious which is why they call him diet Shadow and want to change him into something else because "Serious" isn't a character.

Is Silver "Serious"? Yes, he is specifically just as serious as Blaze is but also just as aggressive, headstrong, awkward and emotional (though he doesn't bottle it up like her) as she is and that's the reason why they're in-sync. They're mirrors of each other by design (Silver's design, Blaze was made independently of him for Sonic Rush).

From now on we have to talk about Silver's character in actual personality terms besides "He's serious". Silver is a delinquent, he's straightforward and honest, he is righteous, he is hot-headed, he is focused, he is altruistic. Those are actual character traits and not just saying "He's serious" over and over again.

I just love that this very video is an accumulation of thousands of years worth of art made by people who have never met each other. The concept of this video was so completely unfathomable to every single artist who made the sculptures and yet they’ve all put something toward the creation of it.
