“Who is the internet even for anymore?” is such a valid question. Companies are sanitizing the internet and stifling natural human expression in the name of child safety and being family friendly, but the kids such as fuck aren’t benefitting from this. The internet is becoming too childish for adults and yet still too adult for kids.
Still holding on to light.
As with every oil lamp I make, I do a series of burns with different wicks to make sure that they produce a reasonably long, steady burn. Because of the way this lamp is constructed (with a small, difficult to access reservoir) there's a steel pin that keeps the wick from accidentally sliding into the lamp, and oil is added with a syringe under the hood. Worth it for this flame though! It'll burn at this level for about an hour--shorter than many of my lamps, but that's the tradeoff for a pose like this.
it says so right there in my bio textbook i would never lie to you

For class, we got to pick a book we liked to illustrate a few scenes from it (and design a dust jacket), and I picked @cryptotheism's Amber Skies!
Wow!!

It took a while to figure out how Filet/fillet crochet was supposed to work, but it's easy enough once you get the hang of it.
Ignore the little pointy bits. I blocked it out a little too tight to correct some warping. This was done in number 10 off-white cotton thread with a 1.25mm hook.
Next step is learning tapestry crochet, and getting into fancy borders.
Very cool!
I've become the foster for a feral cat who had kittens under our house as local shelters won't/can't take them. It is kitten season and mom being a feral really limits our options, unfortunately. The good news is she is just a scared feral and not too spicy. I don't know if we can gentle her but if I can get the kittens to the point of weaning I can get her in a feral cat program and the babies into an adoption program.
If you'd like to help me take care of momma and her three jelly beans until I can get them fixed and adopted out consider throwing a donation or two at my kofi. If you cannot donate, please signal boost. I want to give these four the best care I can. DONATE
@talesfromtreatment deals with a lot of kittens.
Also the feral cat rescue nonprofit Tiny Kittens has a case studies section of their website that maybe you'll find helpful: https://tinykittens.com/cases
Beautiful! Love the colors!
I lost a needle I liked in my pincushion so I decided to get a strong magnet and see if I could pull it back out.
I pulled out 68.
I very rarely sew.
This was my grandmother's pincushion. How many were hers?
Finding a 68 needles in a haystack pincushion
Where you would expect to find needles!
AND YET.
(I jibbled out some more so we are at 71 and I can feel at least two more in there by sweeping the magnet across. Now hunting for my strongest one.)
tomato is perfec t size for put needle inside very soft and comfort needle
A friend suggested 'a mimic that eats needles' and I got the most vivid mental picture.
I KNEW IT I KNEW THIS PINCUSHION ATE NEEDLES i have one just like it and i've lost so many to this damned thing
The unsavvy talk about furries like they're some hypersexual excretion of modernity, but drawing animal-people is one of the top 10 neolithic human activities. It's up there with collecting berries and producing clay figures of fat women.

Happy 19th birthday to this precious idiot.
Happy 19th birthday pretty kitty!
We’re currently in a tornado warning in NJ, which is how all my new coworkers learned I’m from Kansas. And I learned that none of them knew what the proper procedure is for a tornado if you’re out driving so. From a Kansan to those of you who didn’t grow up where tornadoes are a regular thing:
Try to find shelter first and foremost. But, if you’re caught out driving in a tornado and you cannot find a tornado safety shelter, your base instinct is that you wanna get under something like an overpass.
You must ignore this base instinct. You want to get out of your car and lay flat in a ditch. Yes, out of your car. And definitely don’t go under an overpass. You will sustain considerable more injury and possibility for death from debris if you stay in your car or go under an overpass.
You cannot out-drive a tornado. You cannot reasonably predict a tornado’s path. Get out of your car, lay flat in a ditch, cover your neck and head with your hands. Avoid areas with a lot of trees.
If your home does not have a secure basement under ground, go to the most central, lowest part of your home or apartment with NO windows (a bathroom, a hallway, etc.) and cover yourself with something like a mattress or couch cushion, at minimum a blanket. Avoid areas where heavy things like fridges can fall on you. Protect your neck and head from flying debris.
This has been a Kansas spring weather tornado PSA. Stay safe!
