My name is Amanda. I am a graphic designer & free lance artist. I live in a cute mid century split level home in Syracuse, New York with my husbot Mike and our two chihuahuas. My work is inspired by my childhood in Southern California in the shadow of the Hollywood sign & Disneyland castle. Some of my biggest influences include mid century fashion, art & design, old Hollywood, Disney animation, true crime, sci-fi, Japanese stationary & 90s magical girl anime series. When I’m not arting I’m usually caught up in a diy project for the house, listening to podcasts, watching murder shows, lurking at estate sales, reading, crafting, gardening, baking, or subverting the dominant paradigm.

really i think the key difference between david tennant and peter capaldi as fans of the show they were in is that david tennant's childhood obsession shows through when he comes face to face with elisabeth sladen in school reunion with all the joy of someone who was in love with the show as a kid in the 70s. you know, like a normal person. (by doctor who standards.) whereas peter capaldi's childhood obsession shows through when he comes face to face with creepy mummy-like cybermen based off a partly-lost william hartnell serial which is deeply deeply disturbing on a psychological level with all the glee of someone who was disturbed on a psychological level by the show as a kid in the 60s

When I’m reading smut and the author breaks the flow of the story so that the characters can tell us that they have enthusiastic consent it feels exactly like when Dora the Explorer looks directly into the camera and says ‘Seat belts so we can be safe!’ anytime she gets into a motorized vehicle.

Despite being cool.and upbeat (and she is) she also suffers from anxiety and recently started speaking about it in social media. Instagram posta detailing her inability to even go downstairs and how support her fam are etc. She also recently did a bbc documentary about anxiety disorders.

Nadiya is also a perfect example of why diversity in media is important. A government report on community cohesion said she’s done “more for British-Muslim relations than 10 years of government policy”, because her presence on TV has helped to humanize the image of the hijab-wearing Muslim woman in the eyes of the public. She’s not even really a political activist or anything - she’s just a nice, honest, down-to-earth person. Sometimes that’s all it really takes to convince people.
