I cannot comprehend people thinking that more mass surveillance and censorship will “protect victims” and “prevent abuse/harm”, how tf would giving more power to the government who has NEVER cared about protecting women and children suddenly make them protect women and children? All they have ever done with power is criminalize poverty, queerness, mental health, leftism, etc. and that’s all they’ll do with every AI camera devil tech and every censorship bill they get. They didn’t do anything with the Epstein Files, they know a child rapist and murderer is President and they don’t care, they do not want to censor libraries and the internet to protect your kid from predators. Also, you don’t have to be the most digitally savvy person to know they can already catch people doing legitimately horrible things. It’s already legal that companies have to hand over people’s data with warrants but those require evidence of serious crimes, they’re trying to weaken the 4th Amendment. End to End Encryption doesn’t stop the government from finding people committing crimes, it just stops them from easily mass spying on everyone. They don’t need any of these bills to be able to prosecute CSAM rings and terrorist groups, they want to grossly weaken those definitions to go after marginalized groups without due process.

Wanting privacy isn’t about wanting to protect people from accountability for serious crimes, that’s already an exception that exists, it’s about protecting your civil rights. “But I’m not doing anything wrong” doesn’t matter when Christian Nationalists who believe being LGBT or not a Far-Right Christian is wrong and should be punished take power.

The Tennessee Supreme Court is currently weighing whether or not it is constitutional for a woman who has been a victim of repeated rape and physical abuse by nearly every man around her from the time she was a toddler to be executed by men and experience more male violence in her final moments at the hands of the government. I think any woman should be concerned about the precedent that sets in how our government is allowed to treat rape victims. The crime Christa Pike committed was inexcusably heinous and she is fully accountable for it, Colleen Slemmer was beautiful and kind by all accounts and didn’t deserve to die at only 19 years old and she certainly didn’t deserve to be tortured by people she thought were her friends before her death. It was so senseless, violence almost always is but it disgusts me in these cases where women inflict such cruelty on other women over men especially a drug dealing loser.

At the same time, Christa Pike was 18 years old and had never had any positive relationship modeled to her. She had never been protected, her mother let her boyfriends and Christa’s grandfather abuse her physically and sexually, her neighbor was convicted for assaulting her but he got a plea deal and was still allowed to live near her and make her afraid to even walk to school. 18 is still a kid and someone with severe trauma is psychologically much younger than their age. Christa Pike was not an adult at 18 in any meaningful way beyond legally, she was a severely traumatized teenager who had only ever been taught violence. Will inflicting a final cruel act on this woman undo the horrible thing she did? You can say she deserves it, but she already suffered her whole life before she perpetrated the murder. Harm causes more harm, it doesn’t undo it. What this will do is set a dangerous precedent for women and how the government treat victims of male violence.

I’m so tired of performative violence fantasies against abusers derailing conversations that are actually materially helping victims. Someone made a great post saying when educating kids about CSA Prevention to never say “I’ll hurt anyone who does this to you” or anything like that because usually it’s someone the kid knows and cares about and they won’t disclose if they think that person will be hurt. Or (which they didn’t mention but I’m adding) in certain types of abuse children are made to believe they are perpetrators when they aren’t and will feel you’ll hurt them and not love them if they disclose. And the comments were just a bunch of stupid, cringey shit about “Well, the kid doesn’t need to know”. Yes, more secrets and gaslighting, that’s what victims need. Shut up. It’s so stupid and not helping the discussion. The kid would find out most likely and would be retraumatized by that. You need to care about victims more than you hate abusers.

These are not tasers, they’re not designed to incapacitate someone who is an active threat, they’re only designed to cause pain to an already restrained person with seemingly no limit on how many times they can be used. It’s for torture. That’s unambiguous, the purpose of these is torture. We’re already getting reports of widespread torture in ICE concentration camps, now they’re giving them torture devices to use on anyone on the streets, anyone they grab into their unmarked vans, on activists and neighbors and family who oppose them, etc.

Defunding is not enough. Abolishing is not enough. ICE needs to be tried and punished for their crimes against humanity. An example needs to be made of them or this will get worse. They are trying to commit genocide and because we aren’t accepting it, they’re increasing terroristic tactics against the American people. Mass Surveillance. Use of torture. Murders of innocent citizens in the street. It’s all intentional.

I will forever and always despise “evil child” horror with every ounce of strength in me. You will never catch me reading that shit. All of it is just “Oh this child has been tortured and/or murdered and you think that’s bad but, plot twist, the child is ontologically evil and deserves it”. It reinforces the exact cognitive distortions people who harm and kill children have. And these stories demonize marginalized groups of children who already face more violence specifically disabled/neurodivergent children and fostered/adopted children. Common behaviors from children who have experienced trauma and/or who are neurodiverse are treated as ominous, suspense-building indicators of their evil nature which absolutely does impact how people view real vulnerable children. It is 100% that deep and if I see one more page list “The Perfect Child” as one of their top whatever horror books again, I will go insane and I will take you with me.

And don’t even get me started on all the shitty movies and docuseries about Natalia Grace, I hope Hell exists and there is a deepest pit reserved for everyone making money off demonizing and dehumanizing this disabled child who was tortured by her adopters and adultified by a corrupt Judge because she was disabled. Every one of those stories her abusers told about how “scared” they were of an 8 year old who could barely walk was proven to be a lie, stop fucking acting like this is big mystery what is true. We know what is true. And don’t even start with some “but the person she moved on with next had similar stories about her” the woman who saw a disabled kid living alone and took her in to use her for her welfare money? If it’s unbelievable to you that more than one adult could abuse and DARVO one extremely vulnerable person then you don’t know anything and need to shut the fuck up about the topic of abuse and crime completely because that’s literally the experience of most people in her situation, they go from abusive situation to abusive situation and are consistently demonized.

Sexual Violence is not an anomaly, it’s a foundational form of terrorism from the ruling billionaire class. The Epstein Files were just the surface of the issue. A Far-Right pastor spoke about fathers spanking teenage girls (only girls) using pornified language on stage, he was fetishizing father-daughter sexual abuse. A Fox News host grinned and laughed on television about rape. In response to the military testosterone program, he said “Get ready female service members and Asian women, these men are gonna be wild!” Theres nothing else but rape he could have been referring to especially when mentioning those specific groups who face endemic sexual violence from male service members, and he was giddy at the idea of more rape happening in the world. Sexual Violence is something they want to happen to support their paradigm.

Big Tech is increasingly pushing technology that’s sole purpose is to sexually terrorize women and children. Musk is suing Minnesota to allow AI nudification claiming it’s “Free Speech” and denying the proven fact it’s being used for rampant CSAM online. The only use of that is to take pictures people didn’t consent to taking nude because they took them clothed and make them naked. They’re pushing these spyware glasses no one needs unless they’re filming without consent and knowing they can be used with AI to dox and/or create explicit images of women and children even if they never upload photos publicly.

It’s not that they just don’t care about the risks, they are making these things for the purpose of sexual violence. They want to harm women and children, they want us too afraid to exist in the world so they can continue to take all of women’s rights away.

There’s a few reasons I actually do think we need to stop saying pedophile instead of child rapist, and it’s not because of the technicality that most people who rape children don’t fit the clinical definition of pedophilia.

1. It reinforces the dangerous myth that sexual violence is about sexual deviancy and perversion instead of power and control. Sexual violence is violence not sex, it’s about wanting power and control over children more than being attracted to them. This is the same underlying assumption that Conservatives use to call LGBT people a danger to children because they think being too sex positive leads to a slippery slope to sexualizing children which it doesn’t. Theres no data to suggest that. Sex positivity centers enthusiastic consent which is incompatible with assault, what is compatible with assault is conservative and restrictive ideas about sex as an obligation, as an expression of hierarchy and manifestation of ownership.

2. Pedophilia is a paraphilia, it’s a pathology that, as far as we can tell with the research so far, is caused by miswiring in the brain. That explains the behavior and the conversation ends there. It individualizes the issue and ignores cultural and systemic issues. But factually we know most offenders don’t have that miswiring which leads to a discussion on why so many men are sexually abusing children if they aren’t just mentally ill and attracted to them. When you look at offenders who meet the criteria for pedophilia and those who don’t, men who sexually abuse boys are far more likely to be pedophiles than men who sexually abuse girls are. Pedophilic offenders tend to have more victims and perpetrate outside the home whereas there is estimated to be far more perpetrators who abuse girls within their family, mainly biological or non-biological daughters. Thats important because rape isn’t equally common across cultures or genders, sexual violence is a product of patriarchy. Cultures where women are respected and in leadership roles, where there is less gender roles, and where fathers are actively involved in raising and nurturing children there is far less abuse. These are men who aren’t bonded to their children and easily see them as sex objects.

3. About 1/4 to 1/3 of child sexual abuse is committed by other children. When you refer broadly to sexual abuse and say “pedophiles”, you’re perpetuating the myth it’s only adults hurting children. The fact that other children can be a risk is dangerously overlooked in prevention. It’s also not fair to class children with adults who offend, most of those children have been abused themselves and are highly rehabilitatable unlike adult offenders. Most will never commit these offenses as adults (the likelihood they will goes up if they are violent offenses or if they are older and going after much younger kids but they’re still more rehabilitatable overall).

4. Actions are evil not thoughts or feelings so to me I don’t get why people think pedophile is a worse word than rapist or perpetrator or offender or abuser, to me those words should be worse because they focus on the crime and harm they actually chose to do. It’s actually disturbing to me how angry and vitriolic people get at people over this conversation because rapist is not a bad enough word to them.

Using the correct words for violence against women matters, especially when that form of violence is one of the biggest indicators of future homicide and needs to be taken seriously.
